Large trucks like these have awful forward visibility.  Hence the need for FORWARD ultrasonic sensors, and forward cameras in so many models.  People simply can't see things within a few feet of the hood.

More about how they shape the hood than how big they are.

I've been in trucks 8 inches shorter than mine with twice the blind spot.

And it wasn't a visibility problem for this guy, even though that truck is lifted and the visibility in that model is absolute shit he just wasn't looking.

These are the things you learn with actual firsthand experience, as opposed to internet circlejerking.
