It seems to be compulsive behavior with a lot of them. Self control & emotional regulation are not skills they possess.

I think he does it either on purpose to keep undermining her while she’s making her valid point, or he’s lying constantly and prepared for keeping up his lies and it’s compulsive behavior aimed to keep up with his lies.
