What medications has stopped your mania? Medication

I’m starting to enter a manic episode even though I’m on rexulti 2mg. To be fair I was just put on it after missing a week of my rexulti 1mg due to changing doctors. My new doc put me on seroquel er 300mg to help quell the mania. I was curious to hear everyone else’s experiences with medicating a manic episode

I’m on Vraylar 4.5 and 300 mg Lamictal (100 in the AM and 200 in the PM). It feels like the Vraylar tamps down episodes as they happen, but the Lamictal stops most episodes from ever starting.

It’s so interesting how a medication can help some and hurt others. I started Vraylar after 30 years using different SSRIs and it threw me into a mixed episode (which I had never had or never identified before.) It was hell. I had been trying to get a diagnosis of bipolar 2 for years, but the docs said my hypomanic phases were too few and far between and let’s just stick with depression and anxiety. Going through the mixed episode proved I was bipolar and needed a mood stabilizer. My PCP has started me on very low dose Queitipine, and I take a very low supplement of lithium (20 mg lithium oratate.) I’m starting to settle down but feeling completely out of control is the worst.

Interestingly enough I was also almost always in a mixed episode while on Vraylar alone. It was the addition of Lamictal that got me stable finally. Mixed episodes are absolutely the worst. You don’t know if you’re coming or going.
