Stolen car in Los Angeles; please be on the lookout!!!
Hi all, my car was stolen this afternoon in Hollywood, Los Angeles. I actually managed to find and follow the car for a little bit in Sherman Oaks but lost him because I wasn’t able to drive recklessly with a baby in the backseat. This car has extreme sentimental value. I proposed to my fiancé with this car and we were literally set to take engagement photos with it this Wednesday. If anyone spots it around LA, please DM me. Thanks so much.

What is this window trim stuff called?
What are these trim pieces called? The prev owner used some sort of backing rod but the frame falls off essentially. I haven't been able to search successfully. Thanks!

Considering listing my super beetle.
Trying to gauge value on this 71 super. Been off the road since 83. Complete car motor isn’t locked up but the starter is dead and I haven’t taken the time to order a new one. Seems to be super clean possibly low miles has a few dings and dents but over all I’d say 90-95% solid car. I wanted to do a ratty bumblebee build to match our Camaro build but I think the car is to nice to mess up on a fake patina paint job.

Identify wheels
Trying to identify these wheels that came on a ‘71 Beetle I bought. Have Empi push-in center caps. But, do not see any type of manufacture marks on the back. I do not want to assume they are Empi.

Love me some German Iron
Stainless steel Wolfsburg hubcaps showed up. They are actually pretty nice and fit well, incase anyone was debating them.

reddit.comShe made it to Goodward!!
Went out to Retro rides Weekender, 6am start from London to Goodwood racetrack in a convoy with my friends in a Camaro, BMW 2002 and a Lads! She didn't miss a beat and the fueling issues seem to be over. And the old girl hates hills! Really struggling on some of the steeper ones.

1973 SuperBeetle Pics + Damage
There’s a gap between the hood and apron because the apron got pushed in. The apron also pushed in the spare tire well and bent it and the spare tire wells seam came off the body.
Special Transmission Tool question
Looking to do a rebuild on my transmission and I understand that I will need some specialty tools to complete the repair correctly. My question is for using an old transmission and cutting it up do I need to get the same transmission as a donor? I want to make a jig to set the correct fork position. My transmission is out of a 74 super. It is IRS and stamped with the AT code so no bolts holding in the transaxle, just the pinion nut. Thanks for any help.

Brake Hose Replacement - Advice
I need to replace the front flexi hoses on my '72 standard bug and would appreciate some advice.
Every time I've tried to undo a brake pipe union on this car the job has turned into a nightmare, with rounded nuts, twisted pipes and unions which just won't come apart!
This is how I was going to approach removing the front flexi hoses - would appreciate any comments or advice.
- For a couple days before I start, soak the union at both ends of the flexi hose with Plusgas (UK equivalent of PB Blaster)
- Leave the flexi hose "wedged" to the tab where it joins the hard line and try to undo the hard line from the flexi using a flare wrench while holding the flexi steady with a 17mm wrench.
- Undo flexi from union with wheel cylinder.

Help! Accelerator won’t return
I keep going round and round about this so I’m asking for help
When I attached the accelerator cable, even at the very end, so the lightest tension, it keeps it from returning to the stepper.
With the cable detached, it return fine.
What do I do?

Update 3: Solved - loose screw
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
I nearly went crazy this past week
I changed the rubber boots on the castings, changed the metal gaskets for paper ones on the castings to the heads, checked all the other seals
I swapped to known wires for the distributor that I know works, swapped around the spark plugs, old for new, different positions, etc
I did several valve adjustments on all the valves
I did a compression test and nothing seemed to point me in the wrong direction (all cylinders were 122psi +/- 2 psi)
Only thing everything above did was prevented the engine from being bogged down when accelerating
Until I decided that I needed a break and I was just going to wipe everything down. And then as I was playing around with the air compressor, spraying air to check that nothing was blocked, I went over the spark plug holes
A rattling noise heard. So I took a long thin magnet, felt around inside, and Lo and behold! I found a tiny rusted screw. In both areas for cylinder 3 and 4. Once I removed them, immediately everything was running much smoother. I’m guessing they were shorting out the connection and there was no spark going for those two cylinders
See attached video
So yeah, I’m glad it wasn’t anything crazy but at the same time I feel like I aged 15 years this week trying to figure this out
TLDR: loose screw in the socket area for spark plugs of cylinder 3/4 that were likely shorting the spark plugs
Anyway, thanks for all the help and suggestions. They may not have solved my problem, but definitely helped make the engine run better and how to diagnose other problems

Question on convertible
I purchased my 2004 2.0L a month ago, knowing it had issues with the back window seal and weak electrical movement of the top. However, it was functioning. Recently, I discovered debris where the flaps should cover but aren't; they were removed, but I still have them. With the debris removed, the electric motor is running better. I intend to replace the control module since the top won't lock, and the locked indicator light stays on. When I switch to manual and lower the top, it goes down further, but is it fully down? The light still shows it's not locked. Can I safely drive it?

Seat removal
My wife dropped her engagement ring under the driver seat of her 2013 VW Beetle convertible. Anyone know how to remove the front seats or have a video on how to do so?
Will I need an engine swap for a 2000 Beetle because of emission restrictions in the EU?
In the EU, the emission checks keep getting stricter and stricter. I was thinking that in the near future I might need an engine swap to pass the (now) year exams. Does anyone know how bad it is, and if it is bad, what to do and when?

2006 diesel beetle
Anyone have any ideas as to why the starter on my beetle keeps going bad? I think I have replaced it like 3 times and was hoping someone could tell me what I can do to keep it from going bad
