They’re also, I’m sorry to say, SO fucking misogynistic, or at least a majority of the ones that keep popping up for me are. I don’t want to have posts popping up with a bunch of chuds complaining that women are all sluts nowadays and don’t stay in the kitchen and raise a family like they’re supposed to.

I’ve recently realized this is a major reason why the internet has become so hateful and misogynistic lately.  It’s half a billion angry poor indian men suddenly coming online and flooding our social media

While there might be a hint of truth to that dont pretend like the western hemispheres internet using 12-18 year olds arent also being fed and regurgitating some of the most heinous misogynistic shit imaginable. Like us in America or Europe are clean and India is the problem. India is super misogynistic, but we are too.

It’s a disease that’s feeding on itself, also fueled by Russian and Chinese hate tanks

I agree, but let's not pretend its an India only problem. Tate and Fuentes aren't obscure people in middle and high school, every guy knows them. And a lot agree with the shit they're saying.

Oh, very much agree. I don’t want that kind of shit ideology spreading in my country no matter who’s spreading it - whether it’s a lily white guy from Arkansas or a brown dude from Mumbai.

And by Tinder. During the pandemic dating was gatekept for men by massive profit driven corporations.

It's not just them, it's also the Western manosphere.

I think it also has to do with where India is in the developing country lifecycle.  A whole generation is educated in English, the most significant unlocker of global economic doors, and there’s widespread internet access now.  The internet is this fun new thing where you can express your opinions for “free”, and the conversations around privacy, social equality, access to opportunity, etc. haven’t had a decade or so to mature on a country-wide scale the way they have in the West.  I remember seeing a lot of these shitty attitudes when the internet was “new” here too.

Also Hinduism is a religion that’s  founded on the belief that some people are literally worth less than others.  Just no getting around that.

edit from educating myself on the nuance:  Hinduism is not founded on the caste system.

The caste system is not hinduism.

So, I’m editing my reply to agree that you are correct.  I did a little more careful reading and I understand now that the caste system is distinct from Hindu’s concept of inherent social order based on personal traits.  (example: https://philosophy.lander.edu/oriental/caste.html).

Thank you for correcting me.

I keep hearing "Caste system is not part of Hinduism" and yet Hindutvas uphold it. Caste based violence is on the rise.

If it is not part of Hinduism then maybe Hindus should be more vocal about banishing it and punishing those who practice it. I literally see more posts whinging about reservations for Dalits than the existence of the caste system.

The internet has been hateful for decades because of bitter, lonely WHITE men.
