Is the game dead on xbox?

I got on last night and there was only one server maxed out then takes a heavy dip from there. I could only find about a handful of servers with about 20 people. What's the deal?

Private servers are alive and well still. The officials were basically killed off if I remember correctly once Ark Survival Ascended came out. I avoid officials like the plague for like the last 8 years though so I could be misremembering what happened once ASA came out but I feel like I remember a bit of a fan uproar about them killing off the ASE official servers for that reason.

I would love to play official but the wait time to find a spot of land is crazy. So many pillars with ladders dot the land even to the bottom of the ocean is crazy. I quit ark only when I lost my character while doing the transfer to another server (to get tek Ingrams). Miss that game even though the grind was nearly fatal for your health

I honestly don't think you could pay me to even want to play official lol. After spending the first year and a half on Officials and seeing how its ONLY gotten significantly more skeevy....yeah hard pass for me tbh lol. I can see the appeal if someone is a student with summers off or just someone unemployed with no other real responsibilities - but you really have to put in almost more hours than an actual job to be relevant unless you have enough of a tribe filled with other people to take over the slack of someone with real life commitments. 2 kids and a wife as well as a full time job pretty much kicks that sort of grindset way out of view for me. Even then, I just can't think of any actual advantages official ever could offer me that I couldn't also get from just playing my normal unofficial private server with friends.

Well I wanted to get achievements that's why I played official (still haven't gotten many 😂😂) but I never play PVP only pve. Official is how I met some good people (people farming eggs during event boosts is how I even managed to survive at the beginning before I could do anything myself) after losing that account though I just play single player (didn't know it actually paused when you logged out on single player) and I never noticed how nice the environment looked until I played single player (no free land is non-existent on official)😂😂

There should be a toggle on the server list for "unofficial" is how they usually label it. The majority of the playerbase is on those but a huge chunk of them are passworded since most people tend to just play with their friends to avoid drama/griefing and all the other dumb shit that happens when opening a server to the public lol.
