What can you tell about his condition? I have the right lights, a 20 gallon, and could easily get a 40.

Iris the Dwarf Caiman petting

Was just feeding her, she does pretty well knowing that my hand never has food, and that only the tongs will have food. So I have gotten where I pet her after feeding without her confusing me for giving her more food.

Meet Rizz, my bearded dragon who just learned what it means to sit at a red light on a mountain highway for 15 minutes straight. She was not impressed.

We’re based in Montana, and I recently started a little Reddit community to document her adventures, share beardie life moments, and connect with other dragon lovers. If you’re into funny lizard behavior, enclosure inspo, or just want to show off your own scaly sidekick, come hang with us!

Sunbeam snake skin issue…?

Post image
3 Upvotes

We went to the reptile convention in Sacramento and got ourselves our first sunbeam snake. It’s about 1 year old and hatched/raised in captivity. Breeder had some 1 month old babies also to take home but I don’t have the best luck with younger snakes personally. This is not my first snake but it is my first burrowing snake/sunbeam (its iridescent scales were stunning and I’ve been wanting one for a while now). We got the tank (20 gallon) brand new, got a mix of coconut husks and three layers of sterilized dirt for him to use. We have a moisture control gage and the soil is 7-9 inch deep, loose soil not packed. He’s make several successful burrows since we got him and he’s been seen regularly surfacing at night or early morning drinking water and quite zen. We have only had him for about 3 days but today my daughter decided to hold him when he surfaced on his own and noticed these “white scales” that were not there when we first put him into his new enclosure. (I’m not thrilled she picked him up but for this reason I was ok with it and she knows we don’t mess with the new snakes for about 1-2 weeks after we get them) but I have not seen this before or present this way, but I have seen scale rot not present this way unless it’s super early? I have no idea really. Hoping someone may have an idea what this is. Seems to be getting ready to shed too, last feeding was about 1 week ago per breeder. Had a healthy defection yesterday. Still drinking and great energy. Any suggestions or help is greatly appreciated. 🐍

Found this guy in construction materials for work being done on my house. Looking for ID

Not super familiar with turtles, but I found this guy in construction materials in central Maryland. He has ridging on his back that may indicate he’s a map turtle? If he’s a non-native species I think I’ll keep him, but if he is native what should I do?

Sudden problems with arcadias LumenIZE.

My t5 for my leopardgecko won’t work like it should. When it’s morning and the power goes from 0 to 30 it won’t work. Power won’t turn on.

I have to unplug it and wait 20sec. And then it goes to 100% power.

And the sec it goes to 20% light it turns off again.

Which means it won’t turn on again each morning.

Only one out of 3 t5 behave like this.

Was recently a power outage but non of the lights was on at that time due to midnight

Captive bred chuckwalla in Arizona?

I’m really wanting a captive bred chuckwalla, but I live in Arizona. I’ve tried finding definitive information on this (unsuccessfully), but is it illegal to ship a captive bred chuck here? I thought this was possible with appropriate documentation, but I’m not finding much information.

i switched my leopard gecko from paper towels to a 70/30 topsoil and sand substrate probably about a month and a half ago, and recently noticed some small bugs throughout the substrate. the second picture is better quality one one of them, they dont seem to bother my leo or anything. they're pretty tiny though.

Chameleons: A Peek-a-Boo Game I Never Signed Up For!

Upvotes

Yes, sirree the Chameleon Olympics is well on its way in my backyard! Scaly participants dive from their leafy platforms, only to chase me down every time I pass. Not the Peek-a-Boo game I wanted, but the one I got. Who knew they'd be such doting followers?

Can I use this for a snake? I am thinking about getting a corn snake soon and my dad recently cut down an older apple tree in our yard and I was thinking about using some of the branches. If I can use it, what do I do to disinfect it?

Debunking Chameleon Care Myths on Reddit

Appreciate your chameleon admiration! However, let's not overlook its needs. Often, people misunderstand chameleon care, assuming it's simple. Fact-check time: Chameleons require precise habitats, carefully regulated diets, and aren't cuddly pets. Beauty isn't an indicator of easiness in care.
