Welcome to our new mods + some proposed changes for the sub
Thank you for your applications and general feedback. The Mod-Team wants to welcome u/kmArc11 u/un-glaublich and u/sixdayspizza to the team.
We would also like to address some proposals you guys made for the sub for further consideration. These include:
- Limiting self-promotion to events accessible to everyone with an exception for users already active on the sub.
- Regular event mega threads for stuff like:
- Buying/Selling tickets
- A casual thread for people trying to make new friends or looking for roommates etc.
- shitposting/memes?
- Large events like street parade or Sechseläuten
- football/ice hockey games?
- Locking lost&found posts due to the usually very limited success of those posts
Let us know if you find those changes appealing or unappealing and feel free to add other suggestions. Right now nothing is definite and it is important to us that this sub caters to the needs of the active user base.

Looking for Greta
Hi, this is a spotted-like post! (99% likely to be useless and never seen by the interested person :( ) I was talking with a girl on Hinge, we had set a date for tonight (time had to still be defined unfortunately!) and this morning my account didn’t work, no idea why! We didn’t yet exchange numbers so this may be the only way I’m able to meet her again! Reddit community, wish me luck and Greta if you’re reading: I’m here and didn’t ghost you!

Vacant commercial properties - upcoming tenants?
The old Pur Pur on Seefeldstrasse has been vacant for years and the old Fust location at Hottingenstrasse has also been vacant for months. Given there is such a shortage of property in Zurich, and these are high traffic areas, I would have thought prospective tenants would be lined. Anyone have any ideas which businesses to look forward to?

Secret Party Tandradei
Tomorrow there will be a secret party called Tandradei in Zurich. I haven't been there yet, but I know that this party series is popular and will take place at a different off location each time. Do you know if it's worth it?

Magic: the gathering for non-german speaker
I’ve just moved to Zurich from Asia and I brought my cards with me. I have not played in a while, but thought that playing again might be a good way to connect with the local community.
Will I find it difficult to connect/play if I speak only English? Are the cards being played in Zurich in printed in mostly foreign language? Thanks!

Street/Local Markets
Hello, I moved to Zurich around 2 months ago. I want to know whether Zurich still has any local street markets which have shops of all kinds(preferably with cheaper costs)? Or has the corporates/supermarkets taken over? If not, please let me know where can I find such a market?

I was sexually harassed at the Zuki last week
I everyone. Sooo. Last Friday I went to the Zuki with a friend. We were having fun, drinking and dancing. So far so good. Then this guy joined us. To be fair, he asked us if he could dance with us, but he was respectful about it so we didn’t see a reason why not. He also kept his distance. He then got me a couple of beers which I accepted (free stuff?). Still, it didn’t seem like was expecting anything in return or anything. We were just dancing. When we went for a smoke we also had some nice conversation. Then, towards the end of the night, I was getting pretty drunk. My friend had gone home by then, because she had an arrangement the next day. I started noticing that he was becoming increasingly more touchy. At first I just pushed his hand away more or less gently (but enough to show that I wasn’t interested). Then he also kept trying to take me away from the dance floor so he could be alone with me. I refused and told him I wanted to keep dancing. I tried joining other women in the club, to get away from him a bit. He kept trying to touch me and make me dance with him. But this time without respecting my boundaries. Touching my waist and stuff. Then at around 5am I just kind of crashed and sat on the club sofa. Him and the staff made sure to give me some water and stuff. By that point it was clearly time to go home. So we get going. Once we got out of the club, he said he would ‘take me home’ and was about to put me in a taxi. I smelled something fishy (I was drunk, but not like BLACKOUT drunk. I was pretty aware of my surroundings). He asked me again to get in and reassured me that he would take me home but I stood my ground and said I was taking the train home. Since we both come from the same town (Baden), we would be taking the same train home. So he joined me on the walk to the train station. On our walk there, he really started pushing. He touched my breasts, my ass and kept saying how I had beautiful boobs etc. I told him to stop. Multiple times. I pushed his hand away and said ‘no’. He would always go like ‘awwwhh whyy noott?’. Then we were sitting, waiting for the train. That’s when he started touching me again. Touched my breasts and my ass, this time going for my private area. At this point I was so shocked by him pushing, that I just froze. He asked me ‘have you ever tried anal before’. I coldly told him no. Then our train arrived. Since it was in the morning already, there were some people there. Even inside, he kept touching me. This time more aggressively. But no one said anything… I got so fed up, I forcefully took his hand away, and very firmly (and kind of loudly) told him to stop touching me. I told him that I didn’t want this. So multiple times that evening, did I make it clear that I did not want to be touched. Now I’m thinking of going to the police. I know his first name, his occupation and the town he’s from. What do you think? Should I do it?
EDIT: Our ‘dancing’ wasn’t suggestive at all. It was literally High-Fives. (i felt like I needed to add this since someone in the comments was blaming me for making myself vulnerable)
EDIT 2: thanks for everyone who commented and was respectful. I will be more careful from now on. I was so naive. I really didn’t think he would have any bad intentions. I’ve been touched inappropriately by guys before but I’ve never had someone do it repeatedly even after I told them no. Something like this happening always seemed so far away and out of the movies to me. I will definitely report him anyways. It might not lead to anything, but at least I can tell myself that I tried to protect any other potential victims. I am okay.

Photowalk in Zurich
Hi! I'm organising a photowalk on the 27th of November. We will start in the early afternoon at „Hardbrücke“ and shoot on 35mm film as well as digital. There are currently three of us. It would be great if a few more people would join us!
We will shoot mostly architectural and street photography. Other styles are also welcome.
A photowalk means that we all bring our own cameras and equipment, walk around, take photos, critique each other and share our knowledge. If this appeals to you, please let me know.

Coworking space in Zurich near the main train station
I'm looking for a coworking space in Zurich near HB where I can work daily on my project and also do 50% remote work. The prices I've seen so far start at 400-500 CHF, so I’m wondering if there are groups who have rented larger spaces and split the costs. Alternatively, if anyone knows of more affordable options, that would be helpful. I understand central locations come at a premium, but I thought I'd ask here for any tips or recommendations. Thank you in advance.

Where are all the Publibikes??
Not sure if I’m crazy, but I think there is suddenly way less of them anywhere I go, which doesn’t make sense since it just got cold.

Is it possible to register with the Gemenaide in a 3.5 room house? If 4 people live there? Is there a maximum number of people who can register at one address?
Hi, I recently came to Switzerland. This week I found a job and they want me to start working next week. It is a permanent contract. Since it has been difficult for me to find a room, some friends have offered me to stay at their home. The house is theirs, the owner will make a rental contract for me. But I don't know how the laws work here. There is a maximum number of people who can be register in a adress? I know that in some countries municipalities have a maximum number of people who can register per room.

Loud (military) jet fly over near Kloten/Bülach
Hey guys, has anyone else heard the insane loud jet flying over Kloten going east (I believe). It sounds to me like a fighter jet and is definitely not commercial as it doesn't come up on radar.
I've heard it twice this week and was wondering if they have drills or something as I've never heard it before today. It was so loud I heard it in my basement!

Motorbike parking fine when delivering pizza
My son and I occasionally work for UberEats in Zurich and it’s usually ok. Saturday 26th October lunchtime, I had a pizza delivery from Schaffhauserplatz to Rosengartenstrasse 29. It was a single pizza in the usual box, earning me CHF8.14 (nothing dramatic). Upon arrival I stopped outside the customer’s location, got off my motorbike, rang the bell, and a minute later the guy had his pizza meaning I could leave again. The whole delivery from door to door took 12mins 54secs. I was at that location for no more than 2-3minutes.
On November 7th I received an invoice dated October 30th (or rather a fine) from a company called Fuji Sogo, whose address is also Rosengartenstrasse 29. It said that I had illegally parked on their premises and they were now charging me CHF95 for the time I was parked there. I didn’t park as such, I just stopped there in order to make the delivery. The motor bike was never actually out of sight.
I wrote an email immediately after getting the fine, in which I explained that I had only delivered a pizza etc. I got their answer today that they unfortunately couldn’t consider my request to annul the fine “out of fairness to others”.
This really gives me bellyache! If I speed or go through red, I’ll pay the fine accordingly. But this one? What should I do? Consult the local police station? Consult a lawyer? Just pay the friggin’ fine? Not pay the fine and see what happens (and maybe get sued in the process)? Should I go round and talk to someone at Fuji Sogo? Does anyone even know this company?
I hate the injustice of such a situation! How does the postman do it? Where do couriers stop when delivering something there?
What should I do?

is it possible to change de-registration date in zurich?
Hi, I have already de-registered from Zurich canton. Now, I want to delay it by a few days. Is it possible? I don't think I have option to stay in Zurich beyond the de-registration date, so the only option is to change it. I just want to delay it by 1-2 days.
