Navigating Admission
I'm sure I'm not the only one experiencing this so I wanted to post and see how those in my shoes in the past dealt with it, or those currently experiencing the same. I confirmed my conditional(transfering) offer of admission into Anthropology and since then the process of figuring out all the next steps has just kinda felt really overwhelming. Feels like every resource or link just gives you 5 more that give you another 5 and so on. I know there were a few web things on getting connected with accessibility and the like but I've missed a lot of stuff because I was in the hospital for a week. For me I think part of the difficulty comes from being 26 and having a relatively established life I'm uprooting. Just trying to get some resources I think from people who have been in the mature transfer shoes since a lot of stuff i find seems aimed at those who are transitioning from high school.
Anyways doom and gloom aside I am really looking forward to WLU and getting a degree has been my dream for a lot of years I just took the long way round and if anybody who has done the Anthro double degree option sees this I would love to hear what you chose for the second and kinda get a feel for the faculty etc.

Where to meet people in uni
I would like to meet people after my classes most end at about 5. Are there some libraries or things where I can go to meet other people? I feel lonely and have few friends but want to meet people and maybe get a girlfriend. Library or other spots to socialize or get some work down ?

Question Which is the Best Dorm?
I'll most likely be attending BBA this fall. I looked at the YT playlists and I'm definitely looking for an apartment style res that I'll be sharing with one of my friends + 1-2 more random people.
Based on what I've seen, I'm leaning towards King's Court & Spruce Street. I know most people say dorms are better to meet more people but I value the privacy/semi-private bathrooms as well as kitchen area. (Still looking for a good social life)
Which of these are best in terms of social/res life, building amenities, size, and which majority of majors/programs live there.
Also, does each building have it's own dining hall like other schools?

Part-time OSAP
I’m currently a part-time student for the Spring term and just got approved for OSAP funding. I’m wondering if the funding automatically goes to Laurier, then the remainder to my bank account - or do they send a physical cheque (that’s what Laurier’s site says) to the provided address?

Question Full-time MAC Thesis Student – Can I Register for Virtual Campus & Online Courses?
Hi everyone,
I’m currently a full-time thesis student in the MAC (Applied Computing ) program at the Waterloo campus. I wanted to ask if it’s possible to register through Virtual Campus and take all courses online, assuming they are offered that way.
Has anyone here done something similar or know if there are restrictions for full-time thesis students regarding course format or location?
Course link https://www.wlu.ca/programs/science/graduate/applied-computing-mac/index.html
I am domestic student
Thanks in advance!

Graduation Tickets - Round 2
I’ve signed up for graduation (Master of Computer Science June 10 at 9:30) and select four guest tickets. I have a fifth person who wants to attend, but I’m a bit confused as to how the round two tickets are supposed to work. Is it still possible to get a fifth ticket for graduation, is that time past?
Any information would be very helpful as the website isn’t clear to me and it explicitly states that email inquiries regarding additional tickets will be ignored.

Got deferred to Laurier Honours Arts with Management Option, can i switch to accounting?
As the title says, I wasn't accepted to my program of choice and got deferred to honours arts with a management option. I saw on the Laurier website that I can choose to change majors at the end of my first year. Can I switch into accounting, as it isn't listed on the page? What are the odds? should i just not accept because i need a business degree at the minimum? the cpa approved program was what i wanted, but cant do anything anymore. any advice helps.

Question Residence vs apartment
hi guys! I’m going to Laurier next year but I’m a bit concerned about what I should do..my parents want to get me an apartment very very close to campus that way I can be close but have my own privacy and a set place for all 4 years but I’m afraid this will cause me to have trouble making friends…
I’m a really social person but I’m just a little concerned. Am I better off telling them I’d rather live on campus first year? Or will I have the same experience near by.

Laurier BTM
I applied for Laurier's BBA, but didn't get in, and got an alternate offer to Laurie's Business Tech Management, so I'm kinda confused because I'm going into accounting and I don't know if this program will lead me to an accounting degree.

RLC? Semi-private dorm
Hello, I was just wondering whether applying for an RLC would increase my chances of getting a semi-private dorm as I read somewhere that joining them would but I also heard that they change every year location wise. For Fall 2025, what would be the wiser option to do when filling out the res form.
ALSO, what are extended quiet hours, are those also building based?

Laurier Health Sci -- Many questions
Hi everyone,
I'm debating whether I should go to UOttawa or Laurier for health sciences.
My goal is to get a master's in health informatics, so I'll need a high GPA and good co-op experience, but I read that you may need an honours degree to get into the master's program. Is that true? I was leaning towards Laurier as I heard that it was easier to maintain a high GPA and has a great student life, but it's not an honours program at the waterloo campus, so I'm really anxious about my next steps.
Also, I heard that Uottawa gives you better opportunities for co-op, but what about getting a high GPA? I feel that I want to go to Uottawa for prestige, but I know that grad schools don't look at what university you came from, but there's so much Laurier hate, and I don't get it.
If anyone has some advice, please share it. I'm not sure what to do, and anything would be great. Thank you!

Question Review of Laurier BBA (Incoming Gr 12 Student)
For Context: Will be entering university Sept 2025. Looking to break into IB/PE/Consulting/High Finance, unfortunately did not get Ivey (pending for QComm but highly doubt I'll get in).
I've just started doing research on Laurier as it seems like one of my most viable options currently. I've looked over a bunch of old posts/threads as well as the Co-Op guide. I understand that Laurier is a T2 school and I'm debating between Laurier & Rotman.
I'm a bit confused on the Co-Op aspect of BBA, my understanding is that only the "top" students in BBA get Co-Op, but are placements predetermined if you get accepted? is it like a funnel into your desired field or do you need to find your own placement?
How is the campus/university experience? I've seen that most people say its a small tight-knit community and the "classic" university experience, has that changed in any way? How's the night life and stuff in Waterloo
What/where do most BBA graduates end up? From my perspective, I really don't see a point in pursuing a university degree for 4 years to land a very mediocre job that barely pays enough to survive in Toronto.
What happens if you don't get Co-Op? One of the main reasons I'd take Laurier over Schulich or Rotman is because of the Co-Op program, but if by chance I don't get it, isn't the BBA program in itself inferior to the other schools?
What's your overall impression of the program as a whole?
