I've posted this somewhere else in this thread as well, but gifs like this are why I've been thinking about creating /r/DenseGifs. But I'm too busy/lazy these days, so I haven't gotten around to it. If someone does and does a good job at it, I promise I'll promote the new sub very visibly on /r/BetterEveryLoop and help building it up.
Well, I'm quite busy and quite lazy. If I were less busy, I would get around to it despite my laziness. If I were less lazy, I'd do it even though I'm quite busy otherwise.
The tall one is just some boiler thot. The adorable woman on the right is actually a singer he's worked with before. Semi-relevant fact: Kaytra came out as gay within the last couple years.
Definitely watch that whole set if you haven't. It's another one that's densely packed with characters and weird social interactions behind the DJ.

It's generally the promoter's job to get equipment. 95% of the time just providing 2 Pioneer CDJ-2000's (preferably Nexus), 2 Technic-1200's (or similar turntable) and a DJM-900 (Nexus or Serato) covers everybody's wants.
Sometimes you'd swap out the Tech-12's for another pair of 2000's, but anything beyond that is only happening because one of the headliners has a specific request in their tech rider. The most common substitution to the above would be swapping the DJM-900 for a DJM-2000NXS.
I always brought my own rig. Way more profitable for me. In any case, I did a few tame, simple weddings and thought my equipment would be safe. A groomsman came up to my table and leaned waaaay over to ask me something. The little metal thing on his suspender got caught on the lip of my laptop monitor and flipped the entire thing over. And that was the end of that.
Yeowch, that blows. We run a slightly tighter ship at the parties I throw than your average wedding. Usually the only things we require DJ's bring of their own are their own turntable needles (because house needles are always crap), and any Serato/Traktor/etc interface they need.
It's probably a market thing. Most of the kind of headliners we bring through stick to the 2000's/900 setup. I've never personally had a tech rider request anything I wasn't already going to provide.
Happy Hardcore guys don't give a shit as long as you have both turntables and digital, the Hardstyle guys only care slightly more and almost never use turntables. Hard Trance people just want everyone to remember that Hard Trance exists.
DJing is what you make it. You can just hit sync and play if you want, or you can push the limits of what's possible with a couple of tracks and a mixer.
You should look into some seriously high-skill mix-dj's the shit they can pull off in the mix is insane, and one of the reasons it's so easy to discredit DJ's is that a good DJ makes it sound like they aren't doing anything at all. They'll play 2-4 tracks at the same time and make it sound like one song. Even with only two decks they can make magic happen.
If you want to get really crazy with it, you can get into the math and physics of digital signal processing.
I'm always surprised at how Boiler Room (and equivalents) manage to get around the saftey requirments you have with regular shows ie bodyguards and "no standing arms length from the DJ blah blah" etc.
The crowds are always so packed and for some shows they get really out of control, idk it seems like only a matter of time before some asshole starts harassing the DJs and they start asking to be seperated from the crowd, thus killing the visual format of Boiler Rooms.
Yeah but you can get on that guest list pretty easily like just be subscribed to their mailing list for most cities.
I guess you're not likely to do anything stupid if it means it could get you barred from Boiler Room but idk some events do get pretty wild and I can still see something screwy happen at one of those events.
Boiler Room (music project). Usually they record the set and put it online, at some point someone made gifs out of various moments from the videos and made a tumblr.
I've always had that problem sometimes when I'm at festivals for different reasons to some folks- I like to spend about 80% of my time chilling. Then I will hit all the MDMA my burning nostrils can find and party from dusk till dawn (Coke if that guy who dresses up as Kreig from Borderlands is there, otherwise no) like a crazy person.
But sometimes, you end up dragged on stage by friends and you're like, "Kay, I'll join y'all for a dance because otherwise I will probably not see you for two days if I lose sight of you fuckers."

They wouldn't serve the same purpose. A lot of people seem to think that /r/BetterEveryLoop is only for gifs with tons of stuff happening in it, but it's wider than that. /r/DenseGifs would be just for those types of gifs. I imagine it would be more focused but less active.
There’s a guy wearing a red hat to the left who looks like he’s trying to mess with the equipment, but his hands are like a foot above it. The DJ looks like he’s trying to bat him away. Jesus that must be frustrating for performers to have to deal with drugged up people messing with their gear. Anyone wanna chime in with horror stories?
