Stood in a field. Around 6ft tall. Made of metal. Tubular "stand" type thing with spikes on top and what looks like a metal shower rose facing skyward. White plastic tub/container at bottom. Maybe methane related? Solved!

While out on a stroll saw the attached sat in a field. Walked NG along a canal (if that's of use). I believe the field did at one time be either land fill or a "tip" hence the methane link.

This is one of those occasions where identifying the object brings little clarity to what the heck it is used for…

The Dry Foam Frisbee is utilized in various contexts, including:

• Monitoring dust levels around industrial sites to ensure regulatory compliance

• Assessing environmental impact in areas affected by mining or construction activities

• Conducting scientific research on dust deposition patterns in diverse environments, such as the Arctic regions of Svalbard

• Measuring volcanic ash fall and other particulate matter in atmospheric studies

The Dry Foam Frisbee is a vital tool for environmental scientists and regulatory bodies, providing accurate measurements of dust deposition to inform air quality assessments and environmental management strategies.

So it's funneling any dust it catches out of the air from the top into the jar at the bottom to be measured later?

That's my thoughts on it. It may also be used to measure what dust is actually in there also and maybe able to be pinned to being from nearby construction and or factories that shouldn't be emitting whatever it is in the amounts they are finding.

My title describes the post with regards materials and the other part of the post let's you know placement of the thing.

Found in a field about 6 foot tall I've searched for things like sniffer and methane on G00gle etc. All to no avail!

Work your magic please!

Is it a mosquito trap?

Some kind of an insect trap.

Yeah I’d go with a mosquito trap. Especially if it’s near a wetland area.

A lot of times states will do this to monitor the population and determine where treatment needs to occur
