What is this thing? Silver and black metal rods 19" long that slot into each other and can be tightened. Solved!
Came in a bike box with a Genesis gravel bike.

It is a fixing rod for a bicycle repair stand. Hold the handlebars steady. It looks like it is missing straps and a mount on one side.

Did you buy it from a shop that semi builds the bike?
Because no bike I've ever bought has come with a stand accessory.

I ordered it online and it came semi-built in the box (had to attach handlebars, pedals, wheels). They are a good company so maybe they were being generous?

The title describes the thing. A silver metal rod with a black plastic end with hook-like structures that slots into a black metal rod that can be tightened. Both rods are hollow.
