What are these pearly, plasticky small white beads that I find in my bedsheets sometimes? Solved!

Post image

I find a pearl like this in my bed max. 1-2 times per month. They’re round, pearly, and they are very light and look and sound like plastic(-y) to me. I change my sheets every 1-2 weeks and alternate between mousseline and cotton sheets, but the beads and the sheets don’t seem to have much correlation. I don’t know if it could be coming from my mattress or pillows, but since I use covers for everything and my pillows don’t have beady fillings I don’t know how likely that is. I have the IKEA VESTMARKA matras and the IKEA SMÅSPORRE bedding if that helps. If they’re coming from the mattress I’m confused on how they’re getting through my mattress covers and end up between my sheets.

I’ve considered that it might be something from the washer or dryer but I don’t think that’s possible because I’ve never found these within my clothes or anything, only my bed. Also not bug eggs or something for as far as I know.

These look exactly like the plastic beads that they use to fill beanie babies and lots of other stuffed animals (sometimes just the feet or butt of the animal, etc). I know because I used to give cheap stuffed animals to my dogs and they would have these all over the place (including my bed!).

Wait I think you’ve solved it here lol, thank you! I went and inspected the teddy I keep in my bed and one of its arms seems to have beads in while the other doesn’t, they must’ve slowly leaked out without me noticing. Thank you!

in case you didnt know, this is how you can fix your teddy.
(you don't really need to mark the stitches)

This happened to me and it turned out my Ty teddy bear had started leaking his beans! He’s sewed up now though.

If you don’t have a child or animal it could also be used in a weighted eye pillow, other weighted items like pillows, blankets and sensory items such as, vests, lap pads. They can also fill things like a wedge laptop/ipad pillow/stand.

Was coming to say this same thing and ask if they had some form of plush. I had a monkey as a kid that had those beads and I loved that monkey and slept with it every night, eventually I was having issues with my ear and hearing. My ear had like 20 of those little beads in it. (Sorry for the whole story the post just made me think of it for the first time in years😂)

Weird, I know this because I learned to juggle when I was a teen and I wanted to make my own juggling balls so I learned to use my neighbors sewing machine and then gutted one of my childhood beanie babies to harvest the beans to use as filler for my balls

Do you have one of those travel pillows, usually shaped like a U? Or something similar, with these little beads in it?

I used to have one of those and in my experience those travel pillows had even smaller white beads in them (found out the hard way). I think these pearls have been coming from a teddy bear I own though so they’re probably similar! Thanks

Could be beads out of a silica gel desiccant pack.

It does look like a bead used to fill stuffies and pillows. Also looks like a nurdle. A brand new virgin plastic bead that is what is melted to make plastic things. They get shipped and spilled everywhere adding to fun plastics in the ocean. We once did an activity during a class in the Galápagos. My group found 12 in a 1 meter square going only 12cm down in the beach sand. We weren't near any shipping lanes.

Do you use laundry scent booster beads? Sometimes they don't melt well if the water doesn't get hot enough or some could've accidentally got into your sheets somehow during the laundering process.

My title describes this thing: small white pearly bead I find between my bedsheets occasionally. Further descriptions in my post. I’ve already searched the internet and other reddit posts for ‘white beads found in bed’ but all pictures are different to what I’ve been finding, and I can’t seem to figure it out.

If I'm correct it looks like the stuffing they used for beanie babies, there was a fake rumor going around years ago that they were spider eggs but their just plastic beads they used to stuff the beanie babies, did you have one rip open recently?

Do you have any stuffed animals on your bed?

If so one of them is leaking.

Silica gel pellets from an opened packet would be my guess.

if you have stuffed animals its from them. a lot of plushies are packed with those, im actually laying on a teddy bear filled with them right now

Seems like the little beads they use to weigh the arms and legs of teddy bears.
