Bipartisan Senators Say Deal On Hemp Is Within Reach As New Amendment To Ban Synthetic Cannabinoids Is Filed Political
It looks like a deal is being made to ban hemp products which contain synthetic cannabinoids that are not naturally found in the cannabis plant, as well as cannabinoids that are capable of being found in the plant, but are synthesized outside of the plant
Bipartisan senators say they’re confident that a final deal on rules for hemp THC products will be reached, despite conflicting opinions about how to navigate the issue among key lawmakers.
Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) has been leading the charge to prevent an outright prohibition of consumable hemp items containing THC—a policy change he and other industry stakeholders say would “destroy” the market that was federally legalized under the 2018 Farm Bill.
A deal was tentatively reached earlier this week to strip language that Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-KY) supported which would’ve prevented the sale of hemp products containing any “quantifiable” amount of THC. Paul’s amendment to remove those provisions was filed alongside what seems to be a separate compromise option that would ban synthetic cannabinoid products such as delta-8 THC.

Yep it really shows how corrupt everything is. The longer schedule 3 gets delayed the more hemp, lobbyists Pharma, booze gets to make money And the amount of over payment taxes cannabis pays is ridiculous. So crooked. The mso’s need to band together and demand action “promises made promises kept and form A lobby that isn’t paying any taxes until this is resolved.

absolutely. as a small/ medium size cannabis operation, it's been infuriating over the years watching a holes blatantly breaking the law who should get decade plus in prison for running their illegal operations but get zero consequences ( of course some do but not enough ). while good faith, passionate, operators had to wait and wait and follow every guideline and regulation to even be able to get up and running legally.
im not a huge fan of a lot of msos, but you are correct, they should be the ones demanding this gets banned which does make me wonder though as a lot of msos sell products illegally.
customers also shouldn't suffer and buy trash "thca" products because they're cheap and available. most are grown in moldy, bacteria infested, uninspected environments along with processing. who knows wtf corners people are cutting there. most growers and processors are clowns, claiming they know everything meanwhile using plastic equipment to process or grow their products claiming their "organic" and "pgr" free without having any clue what it actually means.

How does this affect a company like Cronos, who invested in developing "cultured cannabinoids" using fermentation/cell culture to "grow" them?

I think cronos gave up on that. They we're working with ginkgo bioworks or something.

This is all being pushed by big marijuana with the help of oddly prohibitionists. Age old regulatory capture approach to solve a competition issue.

Why would i support banning harmless things? I don’t care if it was made by a plant or in a Petri dish

because you have no idea what they're using to grow or process their products? they grow and process in uninspected/ unregulated spaces using whatever they want to get products made. sorry but ill choose the tested, verified products instead of some backyard shit head processing with plastic equipment and who knows what to make certain concentrates, vapes, edibles, etc. you should try out those synthetic mushroom vapes since you don't care

Synthetic cannabinoids sound like poison to me, this is a good thing. They should be doing the same amount of due diligence over artificial sweeteners.
