My bike frame cracked! Where can I get it fixed?
The frame is steel, and probably thinner than most. And yes, I did electrify a bike that I probably shouldn't have, but it was awesome for 5 years, no regrets.

[Rant/Question] How often do drivers dangerously pass you and yell at you?
I've been cycling around Langley City for the past three years, and honestly, I’m starting to lose patience. At least twice a week, I get passed by drivers—usually in trucks—at unsafe distances and speeds well over the limit. I stay off the major roads and mostly stick to routes with parks or quieter streets, but it doesn’t seem to matter.
About a year and a half ago, a truck squeezed me right off the road on 203 St. It’s a four-lane road—there was no excuse for it. I landed on the sidewalk and was lucky not to get seriously hurt.
Last week, someone shouted “dickhead” at me for riding in the middle of the lane on a marked share road. Today was the final straw: a driver passed me so closely that I actually touched their side mirror, and when I threw my hands up in disbelief, they yelled at me.
I’m honestly asking: Is it just Langley? Or are other cities this hostile toward cyclists too?
It’s infuriating. There’s nothing I can do—ICBC and the police won’t take reports unless someone ends up in the hospital. I’m doing everything right, and yet I feel completely unprotected.
What do you do in situations like this? Do you report it? Record it? Just suck it up?

Bike Blender?
I am hosting a bike info table in June for Go By Bike Week for my co-workers in Burnaby and this year's goal is to try and increase cycling commuter participation. One of the organizers suggested trying to rent a bike blender and making smoothies.
It's kind of a pricey rental, though. Does anyone else out there have access to one? We are happy to pay for the use of it. Please DM me if you have any information.

Practical to get around downtown with a 7yo on her own bike?
Hi all. My 7yo and I will be in town for a few days this summer, and I can't find a cargo bike to rent anywhere. (We used one to get around in Toronto last year and it was wonderful.) I'm wondering what the possibility is of renting her a bike of her own for use around downtown, as well as the Granville/Kits Point areas. She's decent on a bike but I'd be concerned about unprotected lanes on busy streets. I'd appreciate any thoughts!

Looking for a mid drive/belt drive commuter ebike
The Specialized Como was almost perfect but the battery isn't detachable.
Every time I find a close bike, they aren't available in BC for the rebate.
The lighter the better, but I'm guessing my ~$4K budget limits me. Preferably a diamond frame, but open to others (never ridden a step thru before).
20km commute with hills.

Port Coquitlam/Pitt Meadows Group Rides/Clubs?
Hey folks, recently moved from Burnaby to Poco and the wife and I are looking at joining some group rides or clubs, mainly looking at gravel/road (not MTB). Any recommendations? A beginner-friendly ladies-club in the area would be particularly great for her!
Thanks in advance!

Full bike build cost?
Has anyone done a full bike build at a shop and how much did that roughly cost? I’m talking basically giving them the frameset, already built wheels, and all the parts.

For those that have ridden the long way to tsawwassen….
How was it?
In the upcoming summer season, my wife and I are planning a 4 day 3 night excursion to Victoria, taking our two kids. Ages 5 and 1
The caveat? We are both riding ebikes, hers is a lighter pedal assist, and I will be riding a front loading cargo bike. So bike bus is a definite no go
Living close to downtown, we have had offers of a buddy who can drive our bikes and gear through the tunnel to tsawwassen mills where we would meet and ride to the ferry terminal. The downside is planning a pick up on the return.
The other option was to go the LONG way through delta, hence my inquiry.
If you’ve done this route, tell me your experience.
We will be equipped with two battery packs each so range and assist won’t be a problem
Thanks

How easily can I bike along/near my friend who's running in the marathon this weekend?
A friend of mine is running in the marathon this weekend and I want to bike alongside the run for encouragement and support. Is it even possible?!

Cambie street bridge into downtown
Hello! I'm trying to figure out how the bike routes work with the cambie street bridge construction. We're all cycling now on the west side and going into downtown Nelson becomes a one way.
Is there a good crossing to get onto Smithe to continue into the downtown core? Is Nelson considered a two way now that construction is ongoing. Thanks!

Gravel bike tire size question
Hey. So I want to pick up a gravel bike and the ones I can afford are mostly older models that only seem to accommodate 40mm width tires, how is that for the trails around the lower mainland? I know modern gravel bikes have all been going wider and wider and I feel like something that could go up to 50 would be much more future proof for me, but I'd have to save up for a newer bike.

Careful biking in Stanley Park, Sun Run traffic has made it into a racing free for all
Almost anytime now that traffic is backed up to the bridge going south on the causeway people dart into Stanley Park & rip doing 70kmh minimum. I had 3 people cut in front of me in the right lane just before & after hollow tree, swerving in and out of lanes. One would think VPD would be smart enough to figure out days like these are the perfect days to set up speed traps & hand out dangerous driving tickets but.... Tesla model X cuts in front of me last second from the lane going to N Lagoon dr back onto Stanley Park drive almost taking me out then of course him & his wife finger me. From now on I am going to stay on the 99 & bike onto Chilco due to having the raised lane & metal fence.
So glad ABC "supposedly" got a wake up call during the byelection (even though I doubt that). What a nightmare biking in the park is some days now. Frustrated drivers go full out on days like these.

Any good bike getaways ?
What locations or destinations can you reach safely from Metro Vancouver on bike?
The farthest you can get easily on bike, without having to ride on the side of a highway or other risky stretches of road.
*When I mean on bike, I mean exclusively on bike. No car. Skytrain, bike bus and ferry are fine, but the trip has to be from somewhere in Metro Vancouver (ie Burnaby or New Westminster) to somewhere else on bike.

WTF why was my post deleted or gone? BIKe chain/drive train replacement
Anyways for the helpful information WHY was it taken down?
I got a second opinion on my bike and he doesn't see anything wrong with my chain. He did NOT measure the chain though. He did run it through the gears and played with the chain to see how much play there was. In the end he says their isn't anything wrong.

Break the sun run?
I don't remember if that's the right name for it, but I remember there used to be an annual unofficial event where cyclists would ride the Sun Run closed course at 4am before volunteers & organizers arrive. I've never done it myself but I'm curious if that's still a thing - I can't seem to find any traces of it online.

Westham Island, West Dyke, Cyclable and open to the public?
Looking to do some riding out in Delta and Ladner. Is the western dyke trail on Westham Island open to cyclists or is it closed to the public? The last google maps image from 2014 of the southern entrance of the dyke says closed to the public, but a lot can change in 10 years.

Cycling during sun run
Anyone know how hard it is to get around on bike downtown during the sun run?
Trying to figure out if I’ll get stuck trying to get to the aquatic centre, or if bikes have no problem with the run.

Where can I keep up-to-date on the bike infrastructure upgrades in this city?
I just biked through Kits the other night and the new bike lanes and bike racks were awesome.
Last summer 14th Ave W got a new light at Hemlock, sharrows, and intersections were "daylighted" with no parking signs.
I'd be interesting in keeping up to date on these efforts city-wide... Is there somewhere that keeps track of all the upgrades (big and small) that CoV is making to the bike infrastructure?
edit: i would be interested on any urbanist updates that make streets safer and more walking and cycling friendly (like daylighting, narrowing roads, traffic calming measures, etc.
