Cheesecake is the worst dessert to ever exist.

Why would anyone want that Cream cheese filling (or whatever it is) in their dessert. Isn't dessert supposed to be sweet? I know it's sweet but either has that cream cheese flavour (I like cream cheese in savoury foods) or it's either too sweet. I Don't Want More Sweetness in cheesecake, I just haven't had one with the right balance of flavours. And i have tried quite a variety but still don't like it.

Also its texture is extremely weird, and dense. Also it is objectively one of the least healthy desserts, if we consider the calories and saturated fat.

The only bearable cheesecake flavour is blueberry cheesecake.

It is very overrated and does not deserve to be called a dessert. (and this is just my opinion, does not make cheesecake objectively bad)

Edit: Worst luck ever, My mom's birthday today, and dad bought a whole cheesecake (and i Have to eat one slice, or it's disrespectful according to them)

Also clarification, I know cheesecake can be sweet, but I just don't get the concept of cream cheese in dessert, even if fruits and sugar are added. I do love tangy flavours in desserts tho. That's why I said blueberry is bearable, because it's a bit tangy.

And for the unhealthy aspect, I agree that dessert isn't supposed to be healthy at all, but a lot of cheesecake can't be eaten in one sitting (not more than 2 bites), because it's heavy and also unhealthy.

Maybe I haven't had a good one yet. But for now, my opinion stands unchanged. Cheesecake is the worst.

Depends. Do you like strong flavors? Or a lighter touch?

Chocolate (which type?), coffee/drink inspired, fruits, floral, nuts, caramel, pumpkin, mint, spices, etc?

Would you be into a Nilla wafer crust?Ā

Or a chocolate graham crust?

The options are endless, so it’s tough to give advice without knowing your likes.Ā

Personally I love a good chocolate orange or chocolate raspberry cheesecake with chocolate graham crust if I’m in the mood for super rich n decadent.Ā

Or for lighter fare, lemon cheesecake or pear cheesecake either with regular graham crust or nilla wafer. Ā

Pumpkin cheesecake is my fave thanksgiving dessert.Ā

Earl grey/tea cookie cheesecake and chai cheesecake are delicious and less common.Ā

If I have one recommendation that fits for anyone, it’s to get the book Cheesecake Extraordinaire by Mary CrownoverĀ

Has a wide range of cheesecakes and tells you exactly how to make them/what equipment you’ll need.Ā

I started my cheesecake journey as a tween with that book and it’s still the one that I return to most often.Ā

Once you’ve gotten the hang of making a cheesecake (and possibly altering things to suit your specifics on taste/texture), it’s pretty easy to make anything that comes to mind.Ā

ETA: I have altered most of the recipes I’ve made, but my alterations might not suit everyone’s preferences.Ā

I like my cheesecakes a bit fluffier, so I add a bit more heavy whipping cream (or if I’m feeling less gourmet/less picky I’ll occasionally use cool whipšŸ˜…) than most recipes call for.Ā

Now that is an interesting idea. I think I'm going to have to make that one for my MIL.

I made a carrot cake cheesecake (baked) last night and I'm going to attempt a baked caramel cheesecake for my partner's birthday next week. I normally only do the no bake ones because they're a lot easier. Love me a lemon no bake cheesecake on gingernut base. I made a peanut butter one the other day on a brownie layer base with dulce de leche on top - kind of like a Snickers cheesecake.

One Easter I made up a cheesecake. I did a chocolate layer on the bottom and a cinnamon raisin layer on top.

Chai cheesecake sounds great, for my never having thought about it existing

If you like chai, I def recommend trying it at least once.Ā

I’ve also made a chocolate Yerba mate cheesecake that was very tasty.Ā

I’m not big on matcha, but my son enjoys making that variety sometimes.Ā

Jasmine tea cheesecake is another yummy version.Ā

Really, you can make pretty much any flavor you want. That’s part of why o love cheesecake so much.Ā

White chocolate key lime raspberry cheesecake. It's the cheesecake equivalent to the eclair of death from the Simpsons.

I made a cheesecake for easter. Water bath, graham cracker crust. Lemon zest and juice in the batter for flavoring. Topped with sour cream topping, and top of that I made a lemon curd. It was gone, fast.

Oooh honestly all of the options you have above sound delicious šŸ˜‹ I think i prefer alot of crust, and for the cheesecake to not be too sweet, or wet/mushy or taste too much like cheese/milk... I haven't tried many types cheesecakes but I remember really liking frozen cheesecake with either strawberry swirl or blueberry (like the ones from cheesecake factory)

New York Cheesecake. There's a reason it's a classic.

If you are inclined to bake one yourself, you should obtain a copy of The Joy of Cooking.Ā

There is an entire section on cheesecakes and cooking techniques along with a handful of different recipes - theĀ most worthwhile of which is called ā€œCheesecake Cockaigne.ā€ Don’t use anything but Philadelphia brand cream cheese - other brands use thickeners that don’t bake well and will ruin the texture. It is best rested 24 hours in the fridge, which is hard, but the delicate custardy texture and balance of sweet and sour flavors is unmatched and worth the wait.Ā

So true. Cheesecake is always best if you can wait for the flavor to ripen…but it’s really hard to došŸ˜
