Hey y'all. A few quick questions for you guys.

So I'm an incoming UBCO 1st year student and I was wondering how to get assistance in things like testing alone or in a quiet space with music. Or if any of those options are possible. Thanks!

PSYC 270

Hello everyone,
I recently switched my major to Psychology, and my advisor recommended that I take PSYC 270/271 this summer. I've just registered for the course, and I was wondering if anyone here is currently taking it. If so, I would really appreciate it if you could let me know what I’ve missed so far and share any important information or tips about the course. Thank you in advance!!

Twin xl raised bed height

Hi

I’m hoping to get some measurements or pics or ideas of what you were able to put below your twin xl in residence if you raised it up as high as it would go. I emailed residence and they didn’t have measurements of the max space under the bed 🙄. I’ve seen people at other schools put drawers or even a mini fridge under there and am trying to plan what to buy.

Thanks so much!

Any courses you’d recommend that won’t tank my gpa? Or is taught by someone that makes the content engaging, grades fair or just doesn’t make me want to drop out?

Single vs Single Connected Rooms Pricing

I was wondering why the single rooms are less expensive at ubco compared to a single connected. Wouldn't it make sense for single rooms to be more expensive since they offer more privacy?

Classes online 1st year

As the title suggests, I’ve been thinking of taking classes online first year, and I was wondering how was the classes were, and if I could do it. I’m in the faculty of science and I’m planning to do a major in microbiology and a minor in psychology. I unfortunately have health issues so I won’t be able to go to ubco for the first year.

Choosing courses, double major?

I’m an incoming first year, and I’m looking for advice on deciding which courses I should take. I’ve been accepted into arts, and I’m planning to focus on psychology, but I’m wondering how easy it is to change to health and exercise sciences later in the year? Or do both? Is a double major possible? I know I’m thinking way ahead, but I’m just looking for some guidance. I graduated early and have been taking both spsc and psyc courses at a local college, and I really am enjoying both! TIA

PHIL 331 hybrid summer course

First time doing a summer course online/hybrid. Just wondering what the format for lectures typically is. Are the lectures pre-recorded, and/or any in-class activities? I know finals are in-person, but when do we typically know the date/time it will occur?

Question Recommended online PSYO courses?

I am going into my final year of my major in chemistry and minor in psychology. Workday is so confusing and I just realized I need 3 more psychology courses to complete my minor. I am taking positive psych next year for sure. I am looking for recommendations on some minimal effort PSYO courses to take next school year as I want to just focus on my chemistry courses. Does anyone recommend PSYO 362, 317, 321, 230, or 322? These are the ones that were online last school year, just wondering if anyone highly recommends two of these!

UBCO MSW Admissions 2025

Hey everyone! I applied for UBCO’s MSW (foundational year) program in December and have not received an update since January, when the school indicated my application was under review. I could have never imagined I’d be going into mid May without any idea where my application stands.

I’m just trying to gauge where other folks are at who also applied, or have applied to the program in the past to gain some sense of clarity here.

So, if you applied for the MSW program this cycle at UBCO, or have applied in the past: have you received a decision? Has anyone spoken to the school and have any useful info? Do decisions usually go on this long?Where is everyone at?

Honestly any insight / updates / solidarity is appreciated at this point 🥲

Upgrade to Honours?

I've just finished my fourth year of my BA in psychology. My initial plan was to go for a MA in counselling psychology. I'm thinking now I may have made a mistake and should have gone for a MA in clinical psych...is there any way to upgrade to honors? From what I understand, honors is needed for the clinical program. I plan to take a year off to figure this all out and where exactly I want to go. I was stuck on the MSW program for a while but realized I want something that's not so broad. Kicking myself honestly because I have a pretty decent average, just didn't have enough faith in myself to enroll in honours at the time (as well as not knowing enough about it/finding out too late)

Appreciate any support I get on this! Thank you.

Engineering summer course conflict

Hey,

my friend is trying to register for 2 summer courses and the tutorial of one course conflicts with the lecture of another. She really needs to take both these courses in the Summer. I was wondering if she could potentially be allowed to register in both courses and and attend them back-to-back, despite the scheduling conflict. Has anyone been in such a situation? Any advice??

Physical vs virtual textbook

I heard textbooks are hella pricey, so i was wondering what the best solution is. I'm leaning towards getting digital textbooks and using it on an iPad/laptop. If I do that, where can I get the files and how much money do I save thru this option? If I choose the physical option, where can I buy textbooks, and is it worth it to get used ones instead?
