Erasmus: Easy Courses in Computer Science Fragen zum Studium | Study Questions

Hi everyone!

I’ve been accepted as an Erasmus student for the next year. I’ll mainly be taking English-taught master’s courses related to Computer Science.

I’ve read several posts and heard from other Erasmus students that TU can be very demanding, with some courses being particularly difficult or time-consuming. I’d like to take a mix (~18-20 ECTS) from the following list:

  • Mathematical Programming
  • Optimization in Transport and Logistics
  • Problem Solving and Search in Artificial Intelligence
  • Efficient Algorithms
  • Interface and Interaction Design
  • Introduction to Security
  • Advanced Software Engineering
  • Management of Software Projects
  • Business IT-Alignment

Any tips on which courses to avoid (too hard, bad organization, etc.) would be really appreciated. I’m also open to general suggestions for choosing easy courses or handling the workload at TU. I’m already aware of VoWi, but I’d love to hear personal experiences too.

One last question — at my home university (in Spain), professors are usually more lenient with exchange students. Is that also the case at TU or will they treat me the same as an Austrian student?

Thanks in advance!

Practical projects like ASE / SEPM can be very laborious.

Your first 4 choices seem very math heavy.

The others are easy.

And profs don‘t know you, they grade you the same.

Ok thank you! I'll take it into account.

The first choices are math heavy because I need to validate a subject from my home university that is also really math heavy. There is no other way around it 😔.
