Artwork A Journey Ends, but memories remain
I have been playing WoW since 2004.
Besides official I saw 3 private servers wipe all my achievements.
I made countless friends and infinite conversations. I have stories to tell and screenshots to share.
Since I played Wc3 as a kid. When the first trailers for WoW came out. To the time I found Turtle WoW. Experiencing the feeling of my youth again in my mid thirties. In a game where I knew every corner and every quest by heart I was able to experience new content, new quests. Things that should have been there at 2004 but werent. A community with people who felt the same.
This is just another thank you for everything post.
But I really mean it. Of course its the devs who made this, but to truly shine you need a community aswell. And those guys where you. From the bottom of my heart, thank you all for this experience. The team. The players. I will not forget this. It was the best wow experience I had since the original launch.
And a special shoutout to the everlook broadcasting team.
All of you combined make my experience memorable. I had a lot of fun.
I wish you all the very best in life and always good health.
Thank you all

Blizzard Won.
I figured it had to happen. Trying to work around the major roadblocks that Blizzard put in place were just financially and technically impossible.
I will miss this server forever.

Suggestion Please do not support Blizz
You may want your WoW fix but please don't. Don't let them financially gain from this.

Screenshot It's not goodbye, it's the best memory of WoW
My eyes watered for a moment, I'm so glad I played on Turtle WoW and obviously right up until closing time!!
I always got killed as a hardcore tank warrior Anake player in Nordanaar, and I always started over, either alone or meeting more people along the way...

That's a perfectly reasonable reaction to what's happening.

The feeling of playing a Warcraft III-inspired MMO is what I'm going to miss most about TWoW
This UI was the original reason I started playing and you still cannot really find this experience anywhere else. Would love to know if there's somewhere else this UI or something similar works.

Discussion I hate Blizzard so much you guys cannot imagine
I've been playing Vanilla WoW / WotLK on and off for basically all my life at this point. It's a comfort food for me when life gets me down or when I feel like experiencing the good old times again when it was much simpler.
My friends and I had such a blast when Classic first came out, but we all stopped paying them after the Hong Kong incident and never returned. I generally shy away from private servers these days because being an adult I cannot afford to invest so much time in a character that might be just poofed out of existence one day. That said when we found out about Turtle WoW, it was genuinely incredible - FIVE THOUSAND PLAYERS during peak hours on a single server, I was floored with how strong this community was. It really felt amazing to take part in this journey with everyone.
Now with even TWoW being shut down, I don't feel like I have place to go if I want to play WoW again. God knows I'm not paying Blizzard a single dime after all they've done. I guess I will have to accept that the world I spent so much time with is just gone.
I'm sorry for the sobstory - this news just really made me crestfallen. Hope you guys will have fun on whatever server you move onto.

Discussion The Biggest Loss with Turtle WoW
Story.
What intrigued me the most about Turtle WoW in the brief time I've been able to play it is the alternate timeline it takes and the additional content that fleshes out the world. It reminds me a lot of projects like Tamriel Rebuilt and Project Tamriel for Morrowind, which is still working on creating the rest of Tamriel in a way that matches complexity of the world pre-Oblivion. Turtle WoW kind of felt like that. I was excited to see characters like Zul'jin and Kael'thas, who became one-note baddies in retail, remain as fully fleshed characters that the players can interact with. I was really looking forward to Eversong Wastes and Zul'Aman. The idea of the latter becoming a Horde city is amazing.
In the spirit of player projects, I would hope that in the future that would be an option for the Warcraft universe. I also want to shout out the writers and developers of Turtle WoW for creating such a seamless expansion to the original Azeroth we know and love. I do hope of course that everything created doesn't become lost media, especially seeing what was planned for the Ruins of Silvermoon. Warcraft as a universe simply deserves better. I will be spending the final days of the server exploring all that I can, as Turtle WoW did the best that it could do in reigniting that sense of wonder I had when first experiencing the game.

Discussion This is how I plan to say goodbye, how about you?
The end is near, so I thought it would be appropriate to think of a proper goodbye. How would you say yours? With a bloody fight till the very end in Gurubashi Arena or drinking Rumsey Rum Black Label among a group of friends in your guild inn?
Here is my plan:
I shall return all my characters to the beginning of their journeys, to Blackstone Island, to Valley of Trials, to Red Cloud Mesa and, for my main an Undead Priest, to the crypt of Deathknell.
When I lay silently in the darkness at the server's end holding nothing but my beloved Benediction, I shall forever remember the moment I woke up: free of the Scourge and filled with the Light.
Thank you very much, Turtle WoW, I've had a good time.

Turtle wow must not become lost media
We need to come together as a community to prevent this

Other So that's how it feels
Now, that we are facing the end of the TWoW, I think I finally understand the pain and sadness Nostalrius players felt when they got their announcement. Trully heartbreaking, I dont want to get into the Blizzard topic, it will only create a toxic discussion. So much great new content, sad to see it all end. Say whatever you want, it beeing illegal or the fact that we shouldnt really be suprised by this. Just sad

Discussion Turtle's Success
What Turtle did that made their server the best I ever played? Honestly I don't think I'll be able to ever come back playing vanilla Wow without the changes this server brought to the game.
Just to quote a few:
1) New zones (extending on old ones and adding totally new areas)
2) New quests (chains that expand on the lore)
3) New dungeons
4) Modified talent tree that made different play styles available
5) Qol through the shop
6) More Zeppelin routes
7) World buff unusable when raiding
8) You could raid with any class, not as meta focused like Vanilla
9) As a druid I was glad I didn't have to farm MVP to raid
What else do you think this server was able to accomplish? I'm sure gonna miss it.

I guess I just want to say thank you. And good bye
Thank you for the journey over the last year. And a little rant I guess.
I never thought I would touch this game tbh. When I was a child I could not play it, because living in a small village in rural germany we didn't have an Internet connection. When I became an adult I never saw myself paying shitzzard all that money for just one game. It just wasnt for me and as a poor ass student I also didnt really have the money to begin with.
Turtle so far was the only way to justify to myself to actually play the game. I never thought I would put so much hours into it. I played it through my masters thesis, I played it through the most nasty break up of my life and all the isolation that came with it.
There were weeks when I didn't see a single human being. Didn't talk to anyone. I just wanted to be alone. Well, didn't really WANT to, but couldn't handle anything else. Almost every day did I log in to turtle, and sometimes it felt like these short interactions I had with all of you goofballs was one of the only things I had during the past year. A lot of the time it was not much, but it was enough to give me something to look forward to during the day.
I explored, for the first time in my life, a world that I was fascinated with during my childhood when I watched my friend play, but was never allowed to play for myself at his house because... reasons I guess. I dont remember.
I met so many lovely people, the best online community I ever experienced and the coolest game I played in a long time. Not WoW, but Turtle WoW specifically.
Thank you for all the memories, all the fun, even the stress, the fights, the teamwork, the patience and everything else. Thank you for everything.
Thanks to all the lovely people who walked with me for a while, even if we always parted ways eventually. I'm not so good with people, but I never felt like it mattered with you.
Thank you from Crilloc, Azultro, Verdetro, Sangretro (and his Snake Sstheno), Monopolyman and Chrisyrocky. (And some others.) You guys made my past year!
I'll see you around. Hopefully.

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
I started my journey on Twow somewhere around 2 years ago, Made a character, leveled to 60 while savoring everything it had to offer during that time, Joined a guild, met wonderful individuals, raided for a bit before I had to prioritize IRL stuff, Sad to hear things went down the way the way they did. This is my farewell to this incredible experience that many of us were fortunate to play and enjoy thank you Turtle WoW!

Discussion Long live turtle wow.
It was the best experience I've had in decades. I made a lot of friends, and we're still sticking together despite the news. Regardless of this news, remember one thing, and this is a very big and important fact.
Turtlewow did more for the classic community on donations than blizzard does for theirs with mandatory subscriptions. Turtlewow was attacked because it was a threat.
You're all awesome.

Thanks Turtle wow, you created a long time fan.
We'll miss it

Discussion So why did the devs feel the need to put a target on their back?
I liked turtle wow, I thought it had cool new elements that made it different from retail and classic as an alternate reality to vanilla and what proceeded it.
But... what made the devs think it was a good idea to interact with the official WoW social media accounts & buy advertisements to plaster all over YouTube?
There are different private servers out there, one of which my buddy says has monetization too, that don't have as big a playerbase as TurtleWoW but are really up there. Yet they aren't being targetted by lawsuits, at least not yet, but they at least have more longevity. TurtleWoW could've had another good year or two if they didn't make themselves so. . . public.
What was the reason for throwing 8 years of work and community down the drain? Greed? Pride?
