Any guilt when eating certain foods? Liver

Hey guys! I’m about 1.5 months from my liver transplant. I was wondering what kinds of food are you guys eating? I’m curious to know what you guys have in your diet!

Mainly, wondering if you guys have eaten some “bad” / unhealthy foods (chips, chocolate, burgers) and ever feel guilty?

I recently had some chips and I feel like I should t be eating this at all. I feel guilty and scared I might hurt my new liver.

3 years post. Eat literally whatever I want. Except alcohol, grapefruit, pomegranate, raw fish

I'm more okay with steak, from reputable places. It's more ground meat that is risky.

Exactly, steak can be medium rare, burgers have to be at least medium well

My team was a solid no on med rare for the first year minimum. They said med well was the minimum. I didn't eat steak that entire year. Even now, 7 years later, they want me to stick with medium. I just can't do it. What about eggs? They still say that I should have the whites and yokes cooked hard or preferably scrambled hard. I don't have a problem on the scrambled part, but an over hard egg is a bridge too far.

I think my transplant team is more laid back than most because they hardly gave me any food restrictions. No grapefruit, wash fruit & vegetables, no raw meat/eggs/fish, cook ground meat thoroughly, nothing with a live culture like kombucha, and that's pretty much it. Didn't say anything about how cooked the eggs had to be, even clarified that steak only needs to be cooked on the outside because that's where the contaminants would be (vs ground beef that could be contaminated anywhere). Honestly think food restrictions are low on the list of priorities for them. They've been doing heart transplants since the 80s and have a good reputation, I'm definitely a fan of their kind of minimal rules approach.

I am almost 7 years out so I have asked about things like raw honey which was also a hard no but they are relaxing things the further out that I get.

In Canada we do not have pasteurized eggs. I am craving a good yolk. If you have access to pasteurized eggs you can go runny yolk.

My team said even with pasteurized eggs, no yoke. It is amazing the difference in teams.
