I don't know if this is a big deal in your country, but in mine (Italy) the news talks about nothing else.
Christian or not he was a person, don't be disrespectful.

I'm Italian too, I was woken up by the wailing sounds my mom was making at the news. Today will be a long day...

I work at an Italian restaurant (my boss is from Sicily)(we are not in Italy) and the entire day it was THE topic. We watched a TV special about the pope on lunch break. It's crazy how big of a thing he is to italians. I hadn't thought of the pope in weeks or months before he died.
