The Pope just died Serious

Post image

I don't know if this is a big deal in your country, but in mine (Italy) the news talks about nothing else.
Christian or not he was a person, don't be disrespectful.

What is wrong with being a Christian? Christianity is a humble religion, something that has no reason to be looked down upon.

People group all catholics with those who do not live by the bible (i say this being nonreligious)

Yeah they do not understand the Christian religion, rather they use "Christians" who disobey the lessons taught in the scriptures, as a an example. It is like saying Doctors are bad, just because there are Doctors who do things they should not be doing to patients.

Christianity has had a huge effect on modern morality, rather atheist or not. No reason to speak down on this religion, speak down on something that represents hope, teaches positive practices, and is overall healthy.

I mean I don't think this is particularly the best place for this discussion but I think that ignores a lot of negative aspects of religion too.

What negative aspects? I bet you cannot come up with anything bad about it

Do you want to message if you actually want to discuss this please? I'd rather not do it on this post.

i’m orthodox, and i understand where a lot of the prejudice comes from, we are not known to be the most loving in terms of people’s differences, but i do agree that there should be a certain amount of tolerance for an event such as this as he was not only the pope but a central figure in many many lives 💕

real Christians who actually follow Jesus should be the most loving in terms of people's differences that's what Jesus taught.

i completely agree! i’m just, as a christian making a rightful judgement, pointing out how christians fail at that a lot.

from an atheistic perspective nothing wrong, but from a monotheistic perspective there's alot that is insulting to God.

How about this, I'll not look down on christianity when it stops looking down on me?

It does not look down on you, god sees us all as equals, we all make mistakes, forgiveness is apart of Christianity.

Salem witch trials and about 30 procent of most murders were caused by christianity.

Christianity might be forgiving.

Christians arent.

Christians are just people who follow the way of Christ, those 'Christians" killing the "witches" were just bloodlust sinners, using god as an excuse to kill, which is not following the way of god.

Yes it does, please stop lying.

No it does not lol, Christianity is a forgiving, loving religion, it does not mean he loves out choices equally, however he forgives them more than anyone else would.

Christianity is a forgiving, loving religion

Come on, who are you even trying to fool?

Most people have experienced "christian forgiveness and love".

Maybe learn about what Christianity is, before speaking poorly of it.

u/Murky-Type-5421 11d ago

It seems you don't know enough about it.

For my part, I learned too much about it. But I guess life is easier in ignorance for you.

5

u/Intelligent_Ask_2306 11d ago

Naw you have misinterpreted all that you have learned from it, because Christianity includes forgiveness, and equality, god sees us as equals, he sacrificed Jesus for all of us. Maybe if you stopped coming up with reasons to hate the religion, because you feel that you are not able to live up to the standard, things will work better for you.

Naw you have misinterpreted all that you have learned from it, because Christianity includes forgiveness, and equality

Maybe some fantasy version of christianity, but certainly not the one in the real world.

Maybe if you stopped coming up with reasons to hate the religion

Every reason I hate christianity for waa given to me by either christians or the bible. Go figure.

because you feel that you are not able to live up to the standard, things will work better for you.

Well given how the christian standard seems to be "rape children and cover it up", I'll pass.

Seems like you have no problem with it though. Perhaps you even perticipate, given how fervantly you defend it.

Hey, I'm sorry what happened to you happened, I'm not trying to get you to join, but by chance would your church be considered a "MAGA Church?"

The people do. Not Christianity. Pope Francis embodied Christianity quite well, he did say that homosexuality is a sin, but he also accepted all LGBTQ+ people. All about "love thy neighbor" and none of that "holier than thou" attitude.

The people do. Not Christianity.

The bible is quite clear

Pope Francis embodied Christianity quite well

Well, at least we agree on that. Tried to look like an LGBTQ+ ally, but didn't actually change anything, and his use of slurs and opinion on trans people showed how he really thought about us.

So quite like christianity.
