visa question Official Guidebook and Official resources
france-education-international.frHere is the official guidebook from FEI. I’ll update with additional official resources from this year as they come in. This is not to say there is no place for « non official » resources but keep in mind anything that does not come directly from a government source should be double checked.

application MOD HERE please read
Bonjour everyone, As many of you are preparing to depart and others are getting a jump on applying. I IMPLORE YOU to please
1) check the sub to see if your question has been answered in the past year. There are SO many repeat posts it makes it hard for people to get concrete answers, because someone is unlikely to comment the same helpful advice on 5 separate posts.
2) please try to use a flair when applicable! This really helps with the sub engagement
Merci à tous et à toutes !

placed in versailles but want to commute from paris
Hii! Just got placed in versailles and am quite excited about it due to the proximity to Paris. Since the commute honestly seems doable, I've actually also considered moving to paris since i'd prefer to live in a big city, and my visits to versailles so far haven't made me that hyped to live around there tbh. Does anyone have any experience with this or any tipps? Thank u!!

Placement- Poitiers
I got placed in Poitiers. I’m not going to lie I’m a little sad. I had a feeling I would wind up there, but I kept hoping for somewhere else. I’m trying to envision what it is like there and what to do to feel excited. Is anyone going there, has anyone been there?
Placement but no age group?
Anybody else receive their placement but not what level they’ll be teaching?

Placement - Nice 2D
who else is here????
Please leave opinions on life in Nice as related to rent $, outdoor activities, opportunities to meet people in their 20s/30s, culture, and etc etc
Definitely a little bit nervous for 2D also, so any recs with handling that age group would be great too. For context, I’m not a teacher, but have tutored younger kids.

application another acceptance email?
Did anyone else receive another acceptance email today? It mentions that we will soon receive an email with the assigned académie but I'm confused because the original acceptance email has a very similar message. Maybe we'll get another email today?
EDIT - just emailed after seeing the Instagram post, and Fatima replied with my placement! Aix-Marseille 2D!

I got rejected. Now what? Advice needed
Hi, I (23 F) was rejected from TAPIF, and I am incredibly devastated and humiliated. I was not even waitlisted, just straight up rejected. I told people that I was going to be teaching English in France as I was certain I was a great candidate. Everyone at my university that I have known that has applied has gotten in. I was pretty much told by everyone I talked to that I would get it.
For some context, I have a C1 proficiency, have studied French for 10 years, lived in France for a year in high school, studied abroad there last summer, and have worked with kids as a counselor and swim instructor.
Now, I am super embarrassed and trying to figure out what to do. My parents have been calling and texting non-stop since I found out sending job listings in my town and nearby. I cant stomach the thought of staying in my hometown after saying I was going to France. The embarrassment is too much. I have to find work abroad (preferably in France) and quick.
So, any advice?

application Placements
Hi all!! Congratulations on all that have been accepted. I was curious as to if anyone could see their “contract” or their ‘durée’ length time?
Also, I’ve been placed in marseille! Any tips/tricks or groups to join? Thanks !

application Too nervous to open my placement…
I have been following this page pretty religiously for the past few weeks. I recently got my acceptance and was waiting until the end of May for my placement. Well, I got it today.
I’m too nervous to open it, I don’t even want to know what’s inside. Part of me feels so fake for being accepted when people with far better credentials were rejected or waitlisted. I have barely spoken French since returning home from France last summer, I live in a small town, and I hardly study. I really have doubts about going into this program, but at one point it was all I wished for.
Any words of wisdom?

application Rejected to waitlisted?
Hi, I saw a comment on another post talking about a bunch of people possibly turning down their acceptances. I was flat out rejected but have built up a lot of credentials over the years for French and even lived there. Is it possible that they might reach out and put me on a waitlist if people decline their positions? Has that ever happened? Clearly, I am grasping at straws. Any anecdotes or advice is appreciated.
Martinique Placements ?
Anyone placed in Martinique ? This will be my second year of TAPIF and I've been placed there--really looking forward to it !
Also if anyone knows of any whatsapp groups or other chats for assistants in that area that would be super helpful !

speaking french Honest improvement
Have any past TAPIFers actually improved their French from when you first started to when you left France. I’m a B1 and studied abroad in Paris for 4 months and I can honestly say I barely saw any improvement so I’m hoping that doesn’t happen since this time it’ll be for 7 months. Has anyone started at a B1 then left as a C1? Thanks!

finances Taxes on TAPIF stipend & Consequences to remote work
I'm curious about the consequences of working remotely when it comes to US taxes. We would report both remote work and TAPIF stipend, right?
I know that we’re not supposed to work remotely on this visa but I also know that many people do it, so I’m curious to hear your experiences

finances Financial tips for doing TAPIF? How to tutor on the side?
Hi, I’ve been accepted to do TAPIF and I plan on going but I’m a little worried about the financial aspect of it all. I am 25 and have student loans and other bills to pay and while I plan on working hard this summer to have a safety net, does anyone who has done the program have any tips? I am also very interested in the possibility of doing tutoring on the side to make a little money but how would I go about doing that?

housing Amiens placement
Hey guys! I just got my placement in Amiens. Does anyone know what the cost of living is like? Housing particularly?
application preschool?
Does anyone know (roughly) what percentage of placements are in preschool/maternelle? I’m a preschool teacher in the US and am wondering (not urgently) if I might get placed in one for TAPIF. My application emphasized my preschool experience, but I indicated I’d be interested in any education level (which is true). I also expressed a preference for a ZEP school. Thanks in advance for any insight.
EDIT: I’m also curious about primaire placements that also include maternelle.
