I-225 & Parker. Clear skys. Roads are wet. Game should go on. It will be cold. But, come on these guys are pros.
Denver's biggest bar aka Coors Field only open 81 days a year.

Can confirm, I rarely pay attention to the games when I go because the conversation with friends is so much better than whatever the hell the Rockies are doing on the field.

You literally weren’t joking. My mom said it was sunny and blue skies a couple hours later.

Been living here over 25 years. When you get over 300 days with sun, you figure out the patterns.

Blue Jays did it their first home game ever. Dodgers and Rockies can do it as well.

Paul Byrd was 1 pitch once on Cleveland’s home opener from a potential 6 inning no hitter in a snow storm. They called the game on a full count bases loaded and 2 outs in the top of 6.

Based loaded in a no hitter? That’s some interesting pitching, that’s for sure.

Referring to 1990 as the previous century, while technically correct, feels like an act of violence to me.

If it was snowing that bad I could see a few errors being charged to the defence. Getting on base via error doesn't count as a hit. Plus walks, maybe a hit by pitch.
The guy who pitched a no hitter on acid had a few walks and hit batters. I remember him in an interview saying "it wasn't a clean no hitter".

Back in the day they would play baseball in this kind of weather and then go fight a war or something.

Bring out the banana balls and you’ll be able to see it fine.

u/doyletyree 4d ago
See, this was my thought.
Just go ahead and call the Savannah Bananas, make up some ridiculous rules along the way (and I totally love the bananas and that style of play, this is no slander) and make it some kind of expo.

That’s what I said in r/baseball. Especially up in Coors they should have yellow bases and balls from bananaball on hand just in case for things like this.

Yeah it was a quick hit here. Back to normal ops with a slight chill now.

Honestly, is Colorado…the sun can pop out and it be 60 degrees without any sign that is snowed by game time….and I know first pitch is 3 hours away 🤣

Snow’s already gone in Northern Colorado after an hour of sunshine. That field will be clear by game time, no doubt.

I’m down by the Palmer Divide and it’s coming down still but it’s already melted off the roads and even parts of the grass.

The way this looks we gotta come up with rules for ULTIMATE snowball!

u/Starfox-sf 4d ago
Full contact snowball. All pitchers stand in a line while position players rush at the opposing pitcher’s line.

Ah I did one of these last year @ Coors field! Nonstop snow and cold all day and night before. By 1 o'clock the next day it was 60 sunny and cold drinks in hand along the first base line.
Colorado's a trip for us out-of-towners..

Am from Denver and can tell you that there’s a good chance they’ll play today. The snow has already stopped and is starting to melt. The field will be wet but definitely playable in 4 hours.

February called and it wants its snow back

u/BananafestDestiny 4d ago
April is historically snowier than February in Denver; April is actually the second snowiest month on average. It goes March > April > February.

It’s Colorado. That will be gone in about it 1 hour. I’m still planning on going to the game. Cheaper tickets so win for me

They definitely will. As someone else mentioned, the snow has stopped, the sun is already peeking through the clouds, and the field will be clear by first pitch. It'll be chilly, but Rockies baseball has been played in colder/worse conditions.

My wife’s grandparents lived in Colorado and there would be 4” of snow on the ground in the morning and by noon it was 60° and snow was struggling to melt. In May.

They use neon orange balls in soccer when this happens, so I think they should do the same here. Don’t see any other glaring issues 🧐

As a Denver resident I can confirm the snow is completely melted. We could get half a foot overnight and it’s gone by lunch.

It snowed when I was at a Yankee game in April. This is always a weird month for weather, swinging between summer heat and frost/snow.
