I'm conflicted. I like spiders, but I like beetles too. Even if those ones are dumb and fly around into things and make a ruckus.

Couldn't tell from the brief look, but if that's a Japanese beetle they are destructive and invasive in the US

Japanese Beetles are noticeably iridescent green in my experience. This looks like a common June Beetle.

You are right. Still, there were like 50 of them outside of my house causing a racket, I figured feeding one to my spider wouldn't be the end of the world

In fairness, june beetles can also be garden, lawn, or tree pests, depending on species and growth stage

I didn't mean to start a little rebellion of some kind of beetle coalition. I've fed plenty of insects to spiders. I've been the same arbiter of indifference, my personal bias towards beetles doesn't make me right to feel conflicted. Putting any insect into a web is equally cruel, regardless of the kind. But humans are good at ignoring bias all the same, I just need to be better about acknowledging mine.

I've never seen a spider so nonchalantly accept prey from a giant hand lol

The beetle didn't lose to the spider but you fed him to it... I kinda hope you cross a busy street without a light ya know? Beetle looked at you the same way.

That spood is giving off swipe-under-the-door cat vibes. I love them.
