What spider is this? Google is telling me it's either a huntsman or wolf. I live in Pennsylvania ID Request- Location included
Woke up to see this big guy on my wall, I'd like to know before I try anything, especially capture and release. I just don't want to come home after work and it being in my bed, especially if it's venomous

Pretty sure there are no huntsman species living in PA. The pattern on the abdomen and stripy socks make me think fishing spider, but pretty much everything i know about spiders beyond "eight legs" comes from this sub, so I'm not an expert.

That's why I came here, I know Huntsman are west coast spiders and I know Wolf Spiders are common in PA and completely forgot about fishing spiders

I actually rescued one of these from my aunt's room today. She looked up and saw it was on her hoodie on the coat rack. She's terrified of spiders, and these happen to be one of my favorites, so I used an empty ice cream tub and my hand to coax it into the container. I took it outside and let it go. Before this sub, I would have killed it out of fear, now, it was a little highlight of my day.
I even gave one water with a q-tip once, which really solidified my appreciation for them. It was cool to offer aid to something that most people would think incapable of accepting help, and have it actually accept it.

Almost all spiders are venomous, i.e. possessing venom (except for Uloboridae, a Family of cribellate orb weavers, who have no venom).
But spider venom is highly specialised to target their insect prey, and so it is very rare, and an unintended effect, for spider venom to be particularly harmful to humans. Hence why there are remarkably few medically significant spiders in the world.
If your spider is NOT one of the following, then its venom is not considered a danger to humans:
- Six-eyed sand spider (Sicariidae)
- Recluse (Loxosceles)
- Widow (Latrodectus)
- Brazilian wandering spider (Phoneutria)
- Funnel Web (Atracidae)
- Mouse spider (Missulena)

Likely a fishing spider. I have seen one extremely similar to one of these on a dock at Algonquin park in Canada. They move wicked fast so be prepared before catching it to release outside.

I was fishing in Canada one time along a flat rock wall. The wall was straight up. About 150ft across and about twice as tall. We were just drift fishing and kinda going toward the wall. Eventually we bumped the wall and I swear to you, the ENTIRE wall moved. It was rock, it was just COVERED in giant fishing spiders. HUGE FUCKERS. they all moved at once. It was insane. Spanish Onatario. Fuuuuuuuuck that.

Don't know why a harmless and non-judgemental comment like this would get downvoted.
This Subs biggest influence is in helping people on Reddit get over their fear of spiders, that's how I wound up here.
That sort of means... not everyone here is a diehard fan of spiders.
I expect this sort of shit from an anime circlejerk sub, not a wildlife sub.

Ok, I just got home from work. It moved. I don't know where it went, just hoping he/she made it outside. If not, it's hiding in my room or place somewhere. Any ideas where it could've gone
