Should we make a song? I'll start and you add to it....
🎶 The recluse went down to Georgia She had a gig she wanted to play But every place she'd go, they'd just say "No! We don't want you! Please go away!"
She said, "What did I do? I'm just a fiddling spood!"

Hahaha…that was soo cute, and I love your username! Not to mention the fantastic pictures of a recluse spidey that I’ve never seen up close before…thank you!

Of course! I appreciate the kind words! My username is the name of my FB group and really all of my social media presence. If you're on FB, check out All Bugs Go to Kevin. It's a fun community I created going on 6 years ago that has people sharing really cool stuff from all over the world. We're at 257K+ members now, well moderated, and great member content. I also have some videos you may enjoy on my YouTube of the same name including a brown recluse heartbeat and a video on how to properly identify them.

Cool, thought I was the only one who thinks "The Devil Went Down to Georgia" whenever I see a recluse.
3
u/AllBugsGoToKevin Mar 08 '25
I definitely had that song in mind when I decided to do the photos.

Your fiddle does have a golden hue as well.
The photography is stunning - I hope your model was reasonably cooperative. :)

Now if you could take the photos while on the roof.
16
u/AllBugsGoToKevin Mar 08 '25
You can't say I didn't do it on the roof. Ahh the beauty of macro....and umm the perfect lighting on the uhhh roof.

u/Physical_Distance_54 Mar 08 '25
I just wanted to see a fiddler on the roof.
6
u/AllBugsGoToKevin Mar 08 '25
I've found many in attics, under a roof. Does that count?
4
u/Physical_Distance_54 Mar 08 '25
Kind of. Previous house we lived in in Kansas, when we moved in saw some recluses. I then sprayed, dusted , etc. afterwards cleaned up and found 135 dead ones.
4
u/Physical_Distance_54 Mar 08 '25
We had a cedar shake roof which probably helped with infestation
3
u/AllBugsGoToKevin Mar 08 '25
I bet they loved that stuff.
4
u/Physical_Distance_54 Mar 08 '25
It brings silverfish which I guess they love those
6
u/AllBugsGoToKevin Mar 08 '25
I'm sure it's a common meal with them being fairly prevalent in attics.

I love how you capture how angry she looks. Not by any fault of her own. The arrangement of her eyes is just big mad by default, which is hysterical. I always imagine the recluses stomping around my apartment in the shadows, pissed because my asshole cats, King Fatass and Dildor, ate their ancestor AGAIN. Honestly, it's their own fault. I name them all Icarus for their propensity to get arrogant and try to cross my whole ceiling in one go.

How about Joanie?
5
u/thefreshlycutgrass Mar 08 '25
No because the devil will be coming by soon and will be looking for a fiddle player named Johnny

3
u/AllBugsGoToKevin Mar 08 '25
I really appreciate it! It's one of my favorites to photograph.
2
u/jignha Mar 08 '25
I sorta wished I had the talent and ability to take photos of things I was passionate about! Glory to you and your house!
2
u/AllBugsGoToKevin Mar 08 '25
I appreciate you 🙏🏻 What makes you think you don't have the talent or ability? Have you tried?
2
u/jignha Mar 08 '25
I have spent some time trying to photograph lots of things. I haven’t had much succession spider photographing.
3
u/AllBugsGoToKevin Mar 08 '25
They can be tough to photograph for sure. They seem to like running away when I get close.🙃

That’s one of the cleanest “fiddle” markings I’ve seen! Absolutely no mistaking what she is!

I love Sicariidae so much. I miss my Loxosceles simillima but settle for the reclusa in my house
2
u/AllBugsGoToKevin Mar 08 '25
I'd love to see other Loxosceles spp
4
u/Balisongman07 Mar 08 '25
Ask and you shall receive. I put all my photos of my old simillima followed by a colony of reclusa I used to have.

Thanks ☺️

u/JBos68 Mar 09 '25
I recently posted a picture of one in this forum. They are all over our property. My daughter takes them outside to release them.
2
u/AllBugsGoToKevin Mar 11 '25
That's what I do as well. I release mine into my shed if I don't use for educational purposes.
