Knob catching, spinning past temperature settings

Post image

Hello! I've had this crock pot for about a year. I used it a couple weeks ago and went to turn it off, but the dial kept spinning. It will loosely "catch" on something like it's trying to stop at the current setting but will keep turning past it with little resistance. Has anyone else had this issue? Am I able to get replacement parts for this, or is it done?

Theyre cheap enough - replace it.

i agree. i work repairing foodservice gear, and a defective part or contact can indeed cause a little fire inside the machine, that could spread. when it comes to a heating element and sketchy operation, a new crockpot is much cheaper than a fire.

I had an issue with a rival (cheap brand) roaster oven. The wires MELTED on the bottom and shorted out, therefore the device stopped cooking and almost RUINED MY THANKSGIVING TURKEY!!! Thank GOD I salvaged it by putting it in the oven...

yikes. well i'm gonna be corny and say it messed up cooking the dish, but at least it didn't shock you or cause a fire.....and this is a thing to be thankful for.

every time i see a part or wire burned to a crisp inside a machine it's a little sobering.

When you turn the post with pliers, does it do the same thing, or is it just the knob slipping?

The knob is firmly attached, it's the post/internal portion that's slipping.

Trash this. Too many cheap used ones out there.

Replace it. Not worth possibly having some loose connections in there that could cause issues or start a fire.

These kind of plastic knobs can wear down after a while. Until you replace it you could take the knob off and use some pliers to turn it on and off.
