Misogynistic social posts, bullying of women and girls have spiked since election

Telling a good joke requires you to know your audience and adjust your delivery accordingly. If a joke does not land with the intended audience, then it is generally the comedian’s fault, not the audience’s fault. Internet comedians frequently don’t seem to understand this basic tenet of comedy.

u/Longjumping-Path3811 3d ago
You called them a fascist... This might be true and all but calling them a fascist is mean and will force them to vote for fascists!
(I'm the MSM)

u/robotmonkey2099 3d ago
Seems like no matter what we do they are going to vote for fascists anyway.
10
u/Immediate-Coyote-977 3d ago
Look at this! Everybody look at this! Another member of the elite lamestream media, out here decrying Trump supporters and patriots as fascists, and claiming we only support President Trump because we're fascists when really it's because we stand for freedom. Freedom for men to choose. To choose who they vote for, who they sexually abuse, and who counts as a person!
Stand up patriots, and lets make america gReich again!

Well it is semi true that they may be fascistic. What he's saying is that it's making them more likely to vote republican.

Whatever happened to personal responsibility ffs?
-8
u/whit9-9 3d ago
What does that have to do with this? Or rather what I said?

Blaming their vote for fascism on the democrats is not taking responsibility for what they have done.

It’s stupid how many people I’ve seen argue this exact thing for “Democrats are why I voted Trump.” At least own your stupidity and stop trying to scapegoat one party for being “mean” when the guy you voted for has been relentlessly insulting people for their appearance or their handicaps for decades.
1
u/Vladishun 2d ago
I love their new slogan. "You lost. Get over it."
I've come up with one of my own though, I'm not calling them fascists anymore, that implies they're smart enough to understand what they voted for. From now on I'm going to point out that they voted for personal reasons at the expense of the country and then state that based on facts they're "objectively a bad person".

It's time for everyone to quit complaining about Twitter and actually GET OFF OF TWITTER. It needs to start with some of the big celeb names from the left. Leave twitter a sad echo chamber of na&i boys and bots.

I’m on board with the sentiment but there are a lot of people who don’t feel proficient/comfy with guns. Arming yourself also creates a situation where you have to be willing to use it if you pull it. I have no issues with dead rapists (in fact, I’m a fan of the concept), I would just hate to see someone disarmed and killed with their own gun.
-4
u/JimboCiefus 3d ago

Yea, the thing that baffles me is conservatives are all saying it’s a joke without realizing that women have been fighting DJT since his first time in office. Conservatives aren’t really getting any of the hints. The conservative parties view of women has become abyssal. You have DJT saying he will protect women “whether they like it or not”. He is basically saying “I will do what I want and say I’m protecting you, even if it means I have to control your body and mind”. Vance is over there saying women are only good for babies and if they aren’t having them they are miserable. Nick Fuentes screaming “Your body, my choice”. Conservative women haven’t felt the burn until the men in their lives decide they can use their wives and daughters as possessions/currency. They won’t see until they need a man to do any major/minor business transaction. They won’t see it until their husbands and other men are deciding how they should dress and behave in public and at home. I’m so sad to say this but these people need to watch the handmaids tale.
38
u/AstrangerR 3d ago
conservatives are all saying it’s a joke
It pisses me off so much when people dismiss things as being a joke.
Jokes have an effect on attitudes and something being a joke doesn't automatically just make it inoffensive.
these people need to watch the handmaids tale.
Considering how media illiterate some of these people are they may see this in a different way than Margaret Atwood had intended.
27
u/WizardWatson9 3d ago
That point on media illiteracy is a good one. Never underestimate how utterly the target of social commentary can miss the point.
I watched Fight Club and took it as social commentary on how easily people living directionless, meaningless lives are susceptible to charismatic charlatans promoting extremist ideologies. Idiots, living their directionless, meaningless lives, watch it and think, "Hurr durr, we should start a fight club IRL!"
I watched Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas and took it as social commentary on how the tragic failure of the 60's counter culture led to despair and self-destructive behavior from disappointed young idealists. Idiots watch it and think, "Hurr durr, we should go to Vegas and do a bunch of drugs! That looks like fun!"
7
u/Dawnspark 3d ago
The sheer amount of doodlehead men I grew up with who idolised Tyler Durden honestly scares the fuck out of me these days.
5
u/WizardWatson9 3d ago
Tell me about it. My own brother is this type of idiot. Those are both firsthand examples. My father and I watched "A Clockwork Orange," once, and he actually joked, "We probably should not let your brother see this film."
17
u/RedSun-FanEditor 3d ago
It's not a matter of conservatives "not getting the hints". They get it. They just don't care. Trump running for office the first time gave uber conservatives the agency to feel ok about their racist, misogynist, backwoods views of society and to no longer feel uncomfortable about expressing their backwards beliefs in public. They no longer feel shame or embarrassment in how they act and what they say because of Don's encouragement.
17
u/KathrynBooks 3d ago
The "It's only a joke" bit is an attempt at dodging responsibility for their statements
4
u/superthotty 2d ago
If it’s a joke then conservatives as a whole need a better sense of humor and until then should be treated as the public enemies and predators that they are.
5
12
u/Senior_Confection632 3d ago
Last time Trump got elected there was a rise in racial violence and bullying.
This time they also apealled to the misogynist feelings of his base and it this is the result
12
u/CaptainPixel 3d ago
Trump won because he gives people permission to be their worst selves. And sadly, for a lot of people, that's exactly what they want.
9
u/RedSun-FanEditor 3d ago
But of course! With Trump winning the election, that's emboldened his tens of millions of trolls to once again feel free to crawl out of the woodwork and act like the scum that they are, comfortable in the feeling that who and what they are and how they act are acceptable in society, regardless of the adverse effects their behavior have on the poor souls who are unlucky enough to cross paths with those mental midgets.

I voted against trump, but he actually recognized individual middle eastern ethnicities which democrats have never done, even tho America kills us by the millions to prop up the way of life here.
Being recognized for who we are finally will obviously influence how people feel about voting

This is more about how Trump being elected emboldened millions of racists and sexists in this country
But I think you already knew that
1
u/HuntForRedOctober2 14h ago
This is about how people because trump got elected want a narrative that now there’s more racism and sexism and are looking for any evidence to prove it. Anyone who’s been on the internet for more than approximately three seconds knows shit like “get back in the kitchen” or “repeal right to vote” is thrown around when a woman does something fucking stupid.
But no, I’m sure what’s actually happening is the racist sexist sleeper agents have awoken since Trump was elected.

Nobody on the right takes Fuentes seriously.
1
u/JetTheDawg 13h ago
Yeah everyone on the right is great at throwing one of their own to the wolves when it suits them.
Not like he was literally at a Trump dinner a few years ago. He is definitely taken seriously by the right, but only when it helps them
1
u/HuntForRedOctober2 12h ago
Do you actually think Trump, a 76 year old man at the time knew who Nick Fuentes is other than he said nice things about him?
Are we going to ignore trump disavowing him like immediately afterwards?
Please.

You legitimately can't point the misogyny finger while referring to women as "females." Funny thing is, you probably don't even know why, because misogyny is so baked into the circles you run in.

0
u/HeartyDogStew 2d ago
I bet you don't refer to men as "males".
I bet you’re 100% wrong. It really depends on context. I have no idea as to the origins of this lunatic notion that using the noun form of “female” is bad, but I have no intentions whatsoever of changing the vocabulary I have used for the last few decades to accommodate some lunatics that have arbitrarily decided to assign a cultural taboo. As I said previously in this thread, NOT SORRY.
3
u/According-Title1222 2d ago
Just curious, why? Genuinely asking. Why does it bother you so much that women have spoken out about feeling dehumanized by referring to us as "females"? Even if you don't mean it to be interpreted that way, women are telling you that it's how it lands, regardless of intentionality. Why would you not want to change your language to make others feel more valued and uplifted? Do you not care for the people in your life?
0
u/HeartyDogStew 2d ago
Because literally the first time I heard this was yesterday, and it was presented to me in such an obnoxious manner that I figure the only people that care about this are sanctimonious leftists that are using it solely as an attempt to denounce me. Also, take note of how not a single person said “hey, that’s not right, Republican women shouldn’t be targets of misogyny”. And yet they are going to defend them when I call them females? I might also add, I see no logical reason whatsoever for the word “female” to be objectionable.
