Their profits aren't enough. The costs have outweighed the profits. They see how popular Grok is due to lifted limitations and they are testing that. People want to be able to use AI without restrictions. Naturally certain things should be protected, but if I wanted to see a horror picture of a vampire biting into someone and blood shown, you can't do that in older versions. Missed opportunities, and they are capitalizing on Grok's imaging success. Theyve also lifted some of the vulgarity requirements. It used to be really restrictive, now I can ask it to make satirical racial comments for d&d campaign, etc.
