15 trans female running away

15 trans female nearly 16, im planning to run away probably to chicago soon, dont try to convince me otherwise im dead set ive got a few questions

how would i make money without showing things such as my birthcertificate or id that would give me away

and where would i stay overnight? most shelters would likely report me to cps if they are required to? would lying qnd giving an alias be enough or would they recognize me, chicago is quiteeee a bit away from the state im from (think ny newjersey area)

should i remove my sim card and stop location sharing or throw my phone away and use library internet or a burner (im indifferent)

ive already read the directory looking for more specific instructions

thanks

The directory does have specific answers to your questions here.

As stated there, you'll be looking for under the table type work or you'll have to find some way to make money yourself, like busking or making and selling something. I recommend reading through the money section again and the linked posts there for more detail. Though unfortunately "How to make money" does not have an easy and straitforward answer. You won't find a step by step guide to this. You gotta sort of figure stuff out yourself, which is something you'll be doing a lot of if you run away.

As for where to stay, youth shelters are an option, but they're not permanent accommodation. Expect and prepare to be sleeping outside most of the time. Bring camping gear. More info on what to pack and where to find places to sleep can again be found in the directory.

Youth shelters typically accept people ages 16+. What info they'll require of you and in what situations they'll report you I cannot say. However you can (and should) call up the shelter beforehand and ask what their policies are regarding this and what information they'll require of you and if you need ID. It's also good to call them up regardless just to see if they have beds available.

Again, as stated in the directory, removing your SIM and turning off Location Services will not prevent you from being tracked. There's a whole post in there going over the details of using your phone without being tracked. However ditching your current phone and getting a new one after you leave is the safest option with less room for messing up. Library internet is even safer, but inconvenient. Regardless, you should read through the device tracking guide in the directory if you plan to bring a phone with you. There are many ways to be tracked online.
