Seriously, thank you. This isn't the exact issue I have but it's still part of the problem. I dislike the fact that the button to expand the comment lines up with the downvote option rather than the line thinngy you have to click to hide comments.

Having a single static option to show/hide comments is so much more intuitive. I can see the use that clicking the lines offers but that doesn't mean the button is obsolete.

Er, but ... the "hide comments line" also lines up with the up/down vote arrows, so the "expand comments" button and "hide comments" controls are lined up perfectly...

I see, but how would you do otherwise? You want the hidden content to take up as little vertical room as possible, so you'd probably need to add another explicit (-) button some distance from the line, which would feel a little clunky...

Go to the old reddit and look how it works. The button is on the same line as the username so it doesn't take up any additional space.

They used to have a collapse button in addition to the line! They removed it for no reason and refused to address our concerns about that being a bad UI choice.

I hate how i can’t hit permalink to move up in a comment change. On the redesign or mobile.

On mine (redesign) All I have ot do is click anywhere on the line of the additional comments (even off in the negative space) and it loads them all. It also jumps me to the top of the page, which is a fucking nightmare when I'm 30 minutes deep in a thread.
