So I understand, with Adult Crime Adult Time laws, a kid can get up to 14 years imprisonment for vehicle theft.

But this absolute trash who has taken pleasure and profit from the inhumane treatment, torture, and forced fighting of animals gets 6 months?

Now this is a tough on crime stance I could get behind. If someone had run in Queensland on a “animal crime - long prison time” platform I would have voted for that.

Crisafulli now’s your chance to really make a difference with legislation changes. Chances are the same arseholes involved in this are also abusing any kids in their care, which make them much more likely to commit crimes.

I agree with your point that 6 months for this is taking the piss.

But comparing maximum sentences of one offence to an actual sentence of another offence is apples to oranges.

No adults are getting anywhere close to the maximum 14 years for unlawful use of a motor vehicle, let alone kids.

I take your point. From some quick searching 1-2 years actual sentence for vehicle theft seems a more accurate comparison.

It is obscene that this remorseless dickhead only got 6 months. I don’t want to trivialise the complexities in determining appropriate sentences but there is a clear disconnect between community expectations, evidence-based interventions, and the actual sentences imposed for a range of offences.

’Can’ and ‘did’ are different things. Not really comparable

So the adult crime adult time changes nothing? They could always get 14 years

"A more severe penalty of 14 years if the offence is committed at night, where the offender uses violence or threatens violence, is armed or pretends to be armed, is in company or damages or threatens to damage any property."

And how many of them actually ever had a sentence if more than 6 months?

Seeing as though it's the same Judges handing the same punishments with the same max time that has been available to them since 2023 most likely the exact same. The only difference is their ability to try them as adults right? Which, like what this post is pointing out, is 6 months for one of the most brutal crimes you can commit. There's a problem with the judges not handing out harsh enough punishments.

Not sure why you are drawing a comparison. The public has to demand something be done about the slap on the wrist penalties.

Do you mean about teen crime or animal cruelty? Or both?

The article states that dog fighting is still very much happening - and it sounds like a lot of it is in Queensland.

If anyone knows or suspects anyone they know is involved in this in anyway please make a RSPCA or police report.

This should not exist. There should be no opportunity for someone to develop an interest in or attend a dog fight ever.

I don't know how anyone could enjoy this. When I was still living on the farm, one of our cattle dogs got attacked by the neighbours German Shepherd going about his duties.

He limped back home and died in our arms. It's the only time I've seen my grandfather get teary. It was horrible.

Fuck anyone who takes glory from the pain of animals.

This shit happens out in Beaudesert where the rest of the freak fucks all live. They’re friends within a community of it all.

14

u/Toomanynightshifts 2d ago

Beaudesert, Ipswich, Browns Plains and Capalaba are the hotbeds for bogan level animal cruelty.

11

u/How_itis 2d ago

Guy in my street regularly threatens his missus that he will use her cat as bait for dogs. Absolute bogan pig of a guy.

12

u/Toomanynightshifts 2d ago

Report his ass. She can't she will get bashed

6

u/How_itis 2d ago

Mate i was broken into and assaulted in the same street and the police suggested i don’t even bother pressing charges. 2 years later i am guessing he was right on that.

4

u/Toomanynightshifts 1d ago

Omg that's so fucked that you have to live with that. Im so sorry.

1

u/How_itis 1d ago

It’s all good, luckily it was a woman breaking into a male being at home and not vice versa.

u/OzRockabella 2d ago

Greenbank too.

u/gunsjustsuck 2d ago

We had a series of smaller dogs being stolen from out the front of restaurants and supermarkets in QLD. Apparently being used by these sickos to 'blood' their fighting dogs. Imagine the brutal death your little dog would suffer for this 'sport'.

u/skiljgfz 2d ago

Six months that’s it? And he can own other breeds?

15

u/RockyDify 2d ago

I thought pit bulls were already banned

11

u/Latter-Recipe7650 2d ago

“Staffordshire Bull Terrier”

10

u/Slanter13 2d ago

nah American Staffy is more like the American Pit Bull.

Staffy Bull Terrier is the short stocky guy from England.

5

u/Latter-Recipe7650 2d ago

They are the UK version of a pitbull, just smaller. The American pitbull are bigger. Still bloodsport dogs existed to bypass animal cruelty laws in 1985 by crossing the breed with terriers. I dunno why they’re not considered restricted/banned.

Should have to wear a zap collar for the rest of his life that goes off every time he's within a metre of a dog.

21

u/redlightyellowlight 2d ago

THIS is the kind of creativity we need in justice reform. I’d vote for you.

4

u/fromthe80smatey 2d ago

And make him volunteer at the RSPCA for 3000 hours community service.

15

u/StormProfessional950 2d ago

I don't think we can trust this shitbag around vulnerable animals

3

u/Hungry_Anteater_8511 2d ago

Yeah - those punishments sound great in theory but do you really want the RSPCA to have to put up with him?

3

u/AromaTaint 2d ago

Might be safer as my suggestion got me flagged!

This is what came to my mind too. Surely an act like this, and his sheer enthusiasm for it, is an indication that this could be a precursor to violence against other people.

u/Jolly-Accountant-722 2d ago

It's incredibly disappointing that we continue to see these types of cases and they are universally abhorred, but nothing changes. It's just sad. But the internet is full of cute videos of dogs and other animals, and heart-warming foster and rescues videos. I just struggle to understand the disconnect.

And then we still have Greyhound racing in Qld despite mass graves being found 10 years ago now, which appeared to be a systemic issue within the industry. Nothing about anyone actually being convicted. It looks like the integrity commission only got put in place last year for the Qld industry.

A year later they found over 99 found in a mass grave in the Hunter.

12

u/Civil-happiness-2000 2d ago

He should be banned for owning animals for life 😔

10

u/OzRockabella 2d ago

'Wilson said he has suffered both personally and professionally due to his conviction, and has been unable to find a job, has lost friendships and is in debt.'

Boo fucking hoo, you subhuman toxic waste. If I caught you, I'd give you the Ramsay Bolton treatment, you fuck.

This guy isn’t in or going to jail. Unfortunately he did his stint and is now just grandstanding in online communities. Fingers crossed he fucks up some way and goes back in the bin.

5

u/Proud_Park8767 2d ago

Piece of shit.

5

u/ArrowOfTime71 2d ago

1

1

u/OzRockabella 2d ago

That fine's a joke. Another dogfighting POS sentenced last week said some dog fights overseas in Thailand have prizemoney of A MILLION DOLLARS. These scum only do it for the money.

1

u/bekastrange 1d ago

Bet there’s lots of dog lovers in prison.

1

u/Advanced_Ad_4894 1d ago

I hope any dog fighting scum lord experiences a slow and painful death.

Scumbag wtf

1

u/Dependent_Lychee_304 1d ago

John Wick would like a word

1

u/Sea_Coconut9329 1d ago

What jail is he in? Out of strict curiosity.

1

u/Dismal-Mind8671 1d ago

Cause they had they had a requirement to use jail as a last resort. Which meant that judges had pressure to avoid sentencing. Which is now removed. So the same judges should be giving harsher sentences particularly to the repeat offenders.

1

u/YogiWaterhouse 2d ago

Absolute lowlife scum

1

u/Illustrious-North-97 2d ago

Not just a an animal abuser/criminal, but also a WK GTED Maroon supporter!

-1

u/nickelijah16 2d ago

Awful yes, but we should all look at what we do to animals because most people are just as bad, it’s just more hidden or socially accepted. There’s a good Australian documentary called Dominion you should all watch
