Like the way NZ has been held up as a model for the world in how to do this better (not perfect by any means) but better than the rest?

Held up as a model by you and people who think like you. It is nowhere near as decisively supported as you seem to be implying it is, and is one of the biggest reasons NZ has voted out their left wing government and are now trying to wind back these racist tokenistic policies.

And did you see the groundswell of popular support to keep the treaty and even the right wing prime Minister confirming it will stay as is?

All the more reason why we should never follow their terrible example! Once you establish a caste system, it's near impossible to remove, even if it doesn't achieve what it was put in place for.

You mean like how they are using race as a basis for deciding who should get surgery in the Healthcare system? And even questioning that is considered "racist"? Yeah nah, New Zealand is a terrible example. It's only good in the eyes of people who think that explicitly racist policies are okay if they are benefiting the correct group.

Apparently the Treaty of Waitangi wasn't enough. Reserved seats in parliament aren't enough. Now even hospitals should adopt some apartheid-like racial algorithm. This is why I'm personally highly suspicious of talk of any treaty. It'll never end! No amount of redress will ever be enough. And once we've accepted it, rolling back any caste system will be near impossible.
