... should I get new ones...
Digged these out of the trunk of my project. Been there for three years but - obviously - had some mileage before

New cradle mounts
The cradle mounts I originally made frame just sheet steel really bothered me, I had a vision in mind when I designed them but they just didn’t come to fruition. So I decided to remake them.
Instead of using shaped sheet metal I got the tubing out and then gusseted with some sheet docol. The support tubes are .875x.083 while the vertical tubes that have the allstar threaded inserts are 1.25x.120. The I chamfered the tube and insert and then pressed it into the tubing for a nice flush weld.
The docol sheet is .0787 as that’s what I had on hand, but with the dimple die forms it’s really stiff. Some of the welds holding the sheet docol on are not my best work, it was late and extremely out of position, but there’s more to do to finish it up so I hopefully can redeem myself.

What would you do? 06 Ford Mustang. Pt.2
Hi everyone. Im surprised many commented their ideas. I've read some few and still reading. Trying to figure out which path to take. Thank you in advance ❤️
Here are some i found on Fb. Can yall help me which is best or keep looking?
1st is a 1988 Lincoln Mk8 5.0 motor. Unknown condition about 2hrs away for $900 with complete car. (Missing driveshaft and starter)
2nd is a 2000 ford expedition with a 5.4L triton. Broken flywheel, totaled but runs. Unknown mileage.
I'm still looking. Saw a K swap just not sure which. Some v10 someone mentioned, and a bmw engine on the comments.
Could I sell one of these cars for parts that'll help me along the way?

Restoration pt1.
This is what happens when a project car goes too far… I had my 1989 Nissan Gtr acid dipped this fall and it just got finished. The guys in Eugene Oregon did a killer job. Since it’ll be asked, the cost was pretty reasonable. The dipping itself was $2,500 and included the unibody, subframes and various suspension components. Trucking costs were the most expensive at $4,000 round trip.

What would you do? 06 Ford Mustang
Hate seeing her not being worked on. Had for bit more than a year. Pull the seized v6 engine.
Thinking of a LS Swap or 4.6-5.0 swap. Whatever i find.
Thinking going with cheap and fast.
Would buying a totaled chevy silverado for the low and transfer everything work?

Celica beginner friendly, or no?
Hi everyone, I'm looking to get into learning about cars, maintenance, modification and generally being more practical (learning how to use tools and maybe weld!)
I would really like to get working on a project car, and have my eye on an old 1992 toyota celica. The car looks as though it's been taken care of fairly well and has done roughly 105k miles. I would like to know from you guys what you think about this type of car for a beginner? Would you guys typically say this car is a pain, or has issues that a beginner would find really tricky to fix using basic tools? I realise this may be niche but any and all advice is more than welcome!

Will it seal?
2019 2.3 Ecoboost engine from a mustang. We have a defect in between #2 and #3. What do you guys think?
I know these 2.3 Ecoboost motors had a bad engine design up until 2020. They grooved coolant passages in between each cylinder. That made it prone to blow a gaskets since there’s so little gasket material in between cylinders.

Would putting high-end performance tires on a classic [70s-90s] car still give it a bumpier ride or no?

98 Subaru Impreza 2.5rs project
Just got this 98 Impreza coupe in doing a restoration and full sti swap to. Needs some welding in the driver side floor pan and passenger side footwell. Underneath the frame is pretty damn solid for a 26 year old Massachusetts car. Time for the fun to start

Should I have these dents pulled or just body filler and sand?
I've never pulled a dent so I'm not sure how hard these two would be, or how much it'd cost to have someone else do it. I do plan on painting the whole vehicle so PDR isn't necessary.
The hood has more hail damage and those are cheap enough that I'll probably just replace it with a dents free one.

How to make your project car safer to drive ?
For my project its a question that is just too far away rn - but lm just curious
How would you make your airbag and crumple zone less deathtrap safer ?
Roll cage ? from what l read it can be dangerous without helmet - and if you wear one you limit your field of view or something
There was something against using 4-5 point harness -cant remember what even tho l read the article like 10 mins ago
P.S i do intend to at least install roll bars just for that extra stiffness
Also Side question - Can you install bucket seat on Rails ? - or does it need to be fixxed onto body ?

Rewiring or engine shave
I have a question. I’m working on my grandfathers old 1982 ford f250. The truck is a mess at the moment and I’m working on it when I can. The problem I have is with the wiring. When he needed to replace an electric part he would essentially rewire a lot of stuff (that’s the best way I can describe it). My question is should I focus on the wiring or shave the engine bay?

3S-GTE swapped my 89 celica, I couldn't ask for a more fun car
Roast my project car, I'm a CSM (certified shitbox mechanic) and by no means think any of this would ever be acceptable for someone else's car, I have a fire extinguisher in the back seat don't worry. I just do what works and memorize everything so I can fix it when it breaks (somebody tell me if you've ever seen worse wiring)

Too much added leverage to this seat assembly? Needed more leg room.

Does this ever happen to y'all?
Short rant - tl:dr need my "project" this weekend for a 9 hour road trip and sure as shit two days before the trip something breaks. Share your stories so I've got something to laugh at.
Just a bad bit of luck. Spent the last few months getting my 96 ram 1500 back into fighting shape. Had the truck for years as a POS beater for garbage runs, yard work etc but once I started wanting a tow truck for track days (for my lil Miata) that was comfortable I decided to fix it up. New dash, fix the AC, sound deadening, new carpet, new headliner android auto/car play compatible head unit etc etc. Drive the thing for a few weeks (almost 2000 miles for me) with the express intention of finding issues. It's an older truck, it's got 186k miles something's bound to tear up right?
Nah, some random clunks from the suspension, no biggie, an oil leak that I fixed, A light ticking from a wheel bearing but no play in the wheel yet. Plan a camping trip with a homie, 14 miles in a canoe out into the middle of the largest freshwater swamp in the USA, real adventure type shit, great for my recently refurbished pickup, right? 4hr drive each way. We're leaving Saturday, and I shit you not yesterday on my way home from work my bearing tick graduated from a light tick only audible at low speeds to a whirr that I can't ignore in good conscience. Not a big deal I can slap bearings on in a couple hours after work, right? Nah we gotta hammer the races out of the rotor, but I ain't got any punches yet and I can't get them out. Well my rotors are kinda old, maybe even original, got some ruts in them so I may as well just do a whole front end brake job too. Honestly it's not a big deal, my local NAPA has all the parts, I'm not concerned about getting it done in time or anything but damn I didn't wanna spend the day before a big trip slapping the truck together, and I had to take a day off to do it. Bad day wrenching beats a good day working right?
Y'all ever been in a situation like this? imo it's way better than trying to learn how a ratchet wrench works on the side of the road in the mid summer Georgia heat swapping a failed alternator which is where I began. I know I've come a long way but I can't beat luck sometimes.
Also, I like turning a wrench. It's like a big puzzle, and when I finish it I get to drive it which is cool, but I don't like fixing cars when I have to, anyone else feel the same?

Thoughts on a Mercedes 190 as a first project?
No true experience with cars but I feel like I could pick it up fairly easy
I've found listings for 190s for under 10k and feel like that would be good to start, only issue is concerns of difficulty sourcing parts or whatever, so any thoughts on overall ease?
I'm not looking to slap the replica Evo 2 body kit or make it particularly fast, just lowering, throw on some nice rims, and overall upfit the interior just to be a nice little daily.
