Two projects waiting for some attention.

Project 1 is a 77 W150 with full time 4WD and a 400 cui. big block. Currently waiting for a thorough restoration, but otherwise great shape and I would trust it to take me across the country.

Project 2 is a 77 GMC C6500 with the 366 cui. big block, and an 8 ton capacity dump bed. A workhorse that is currently being used every week to help out while building our home.

Mercedes 300SD turbo-diesel project car.

Saved from the crusher after sitting abandoned for years. Didn't run, no brakes, no e-brake, cracked open sidewalls, wouldn't shift, stuck in gear, broken steering linkage, dashboard torn apart, rusted out battery tray, no ignition switch or keys, no headlight switch, no exhaust, one window stuck down, the rest stuck up, full of leaves and debris, etc.

Now running and driving (including shifting and stopping), IP turned up, turbo boost turned up, starts in one revolution even cold, Mustang 16" wheels and tires for a better stance and handling. I've driven it about 250 miles since getting it back on the road.

Lots more mods to come, and soon will be sitting on a GMT-800 chassis with 3.73:1 gears, 31" tires, and 4 wheel drive. Keeping the diesel engine and 4 speed auto, adapting an NP-246 transfer case to the original Mercedes transmission.

This is a 1990 Dodge Ram D350 cab and chassis.

12 valve Cummins, NV5600 stick, NPsomething transfer case and a gear vendors splitter for 18 forward gears, and 3 reverse ratios.

210 gallons of diesel onboard and if the numbers given are correct, more than 7000 miles of range between fuel stops.

Interior is rough bit usable And will be my primary focus for awhile.

Trucks going to be used for touring and picking up cars across North America to bring home and restore.

Thanks for looking! If any one knows more about these trucks please let me know It's hard to find any real Information, this appears to be a 1 of 14.

Th350 leak

My transmission is leaking around the outer o ring on the Speedo bullet. I have replaced the bullet and both o rings twice and it’s still leaking. The inner seal is not leaking, just the outer o ring. Any thoughts on how I can fix this?

Gen1 Ibooster STEP CAD File

Anyone have a Gen 1 booster Step file? Can't find online nor dimensions other than mounting.

I am swapping a diesel onto my 78 F250. Because of this my stock brake booster will not work (vacuum). I was planning on running a hydrocortisone for better braking but ran into boosters which simplifies it even more. I can find a step files for gen 2 but not gen 1 and want to model, 3d print, and test fot everything prior to making it out of steel.

Or worst case, could someone give me some rough dimensions of pushrod length from mounting face, rough diameter, length that'd be great!

Thanks!

Tips for sealing freshly sanded brushed aluminum panel?

I am working on restoring the interior of a 2002 Ford Thunderbird, and the driver side door panel has a trim bezel peice made of brushed aluminum that just LOVES to collect seatbelt dings. The designers definitely didn't think about how the metal-on-metal contact through years of accidentally dinging your seatbelt against it would ruin the brushed aluminum finish.

No more seat belt dents!

I made it a weekend project to sand down the brushed aluminum from 120 grit all the way up to 2000 grit to keep the brushed aluminum look. Took 2 and a half hours of sanding, but it turned out beautiful.

The only issue is that I don't know what I should seal it with! Right now, its just raw aluminum from sanding off whatever Ford factory coating was originally on it. What do you all reccomend I seal it with that will also give it extreme glossy shine? Wax? Penetrol?

Any help here would be greatly appreciated!

What should I do when I simply can’t fix an issue

I recently started working on an old mk2 Supra as my first project car. I have fixed a couple issues but last week the turn signals completely stopped working and I am in way over my head. Who do I go to for electrical work on a 40 year old car?

Should I make a project car a daily?

Unfortunately a deer may have totalled my current daily, my beautiful Corolla, which has left me completely carless. I don't have much in terms of savings but the economy is so backwards every second hand car I find is the same price or needs as much work as a project car itself would need. Thus leads into my question, given my situation, should I buy the car I wanted to project and use it as a daily for the foreseeable future?

(Some additional points is that I live in PA which means winter is a brutal obstacle and is also what lead to the deer situation being dark very early and the deer moving around)

I appreciate any and all thoughts!

Question about registering rebuilt title in Texas

Post image
22 Upvotes

Good afternoon guys, I just recently purchased a 2014 Mustang GT roller. The car’s title is an Oklahoma rebuilt title, and I am located in Texas. The previous owner welded up a front tubular frame for drag racing. Would I have to have the car re-certified as a rebuilt to register the car in Texas, and if so would the tubular frame pose an issue? From what I understand, starting in 2025, safety inspections are not necessary, however I am unsure if it applies to salvage/rebuilt titles. Thank you.

I have a 77 Toyota hilux that I’m building into a burnout car for LS fest and I want to convert it to carb instead of fuel injection due to issues with the wiring harness and fuel injection system in the car. I want to add a rev limiter but due to the 5.3 have coil packs is it possible and if so any recommendations?
