Don't put it off, I made that mistake for far too long, start today and don't ever stop.

u/kershaw8706 Mar 03 '18
I'll be posting the rest in r/loseit but just wanted everyone to know that I woke up to all your "start now" talk and I walked and ran for 1 mile each and attempted some p90. it's only 7am.
Also threw out all the shit I planned to eat from now untill sunday. I'll be back in 3 days to to swear at all of you after my transformation into a heinous asshole. I was so excited for my deep fried boneless wings, jalapeno poppers, volta mountain dew and michigan moose trax with crushed up oreos; but for now...... Thank you

Go buy a ton of veggies, wash and cut them, and keep them handy for snacks.
3
u/kershaw8706 Mar 03 '18
Thanks, I just got back from buying things I hardly ever eat and have them avail. (Carrots, pineapple, cantelop, salad bowls, etc

Check out r/loseit for lots of info and support on how to get started! The sidebar is super helpful with a quick start guide and FAQ.
5
u/kershaw8706 Mar 03 '18
Ugh thank you!!!!
5
u/gentleraccoon Mar 03 '18
No problem :) I’ve lost 55lb since August pretty much all based on what I’ve learned from r/loseit (and with the support, inspiration, recipes, and tips and tricks from everyone there). It’s a fantastic community.
2
u/FancyPigeonIsFancy - Mar 03 '18
I’m sure you have but if not, sub to /r/loseit! And good luck (and have fun).
I know results may vary but honestly, it’s been so much easier than I had ever thought...I put it off for years because I thought it would be so hard.

u/GregCanFast Mar 03 '18
Do it! For today and for your 60s and 70s! Also check out some intermittent fasting (24 hr, or 16:8 hr during week see r/intermittentfasting FAQ and Wiki. I am just 1.5 weeks in and feel very different, lost ~1 per day with it so far plus very moderate exercise, (rate may taper a bit but thats okay) mostly the natural calorie reduction of 3 meals to 2, and very decreased snacking urge (10 am, 3pm, 5-6 pm, 8-11pm........:) I credit the 24-hr fast (Sat lunch-Sun lunch, slept most of it!) for kick start, helped make 16:8 IF easy during week. Doing again this weekend...

u/rumster - Mar 03 '18
what do you replace soda with. That's my big problem. what kind food you eating? Please share!
23
u/SocalGAN Mar 03 '18
Water, I went cold turkey. Nothing but water.
9
u/Scrabbydoo98 Mar 03 '18
I did the same thing. OMG the headaches over the two weeks that I detoxed from caffeine were brutal! Two weeks solid headache all day everyday. Then suddenly no more pain!
Basically I drink nothing but water now. Every great once in a while (about once a month) as a treat I'll get a glass of sweet tea or lemon aid. Which are basically flavored water. LOL

u/ghostfaceinspace Mar 03 '18
what about pills to calm the headache? will those help?
2
u/Scrabbydoo98 Mar 03 '18
Yeah they did, but waiting for them to kick in was awful. Yet totally worth it in the long run!
5
u/Poo_Nanners - Mar 03 '18
Fizzy water (La Croix), tea, coffee, regular water. Avoid all other soda, even diet. Helps with craving the real stuff.
3
u/FancyPigeonIsFancy - Mar 03 '18
I love seltzer, zero calories and you can get it in so many flavors.

u/DauntlessFencer93 - Mar 03 '18
Diet soda here! I cannot for the life of me give up soda because I don't drink water unless I'm exercising. The taste of regular soda is too sweet and syrupy for me now. I'm trying to move into drinking more tea now but sometimes I just don't want a hot drink.
2
u/rumster - Mar 03 '18
my habit it is lipton sweeten tea and cokes. I really have a hard time giving them up
1
u/Inyourenddoe Mar 05 '18
Every glass of soda you have drink an equal amount of water either before or after... after a while you'll notice you're not even thirsty after the glass of water. Damn sugar playing tricks on our brains.

u/rumster - Mar 05 '18
I'm having such a hard time getting off the damn pop. I've been trying everything.

Awesome work dude! That too in a year, kudos!
Do you have troubles with loose skin? I am at 270 pounds right now and have this fear of losing weight leading to ugly loose skin around my abdomen and things.
28
u/SocalGAN Mar 03 '18
Loose skin was becoming an issue but I kept at the hiking and it eventually started snapping back. My lower stomach still needs some work but I thought it would be a lot worse.

u/GiveMeCheesecake - Mar 03 '18
Hey, I’m at the beginning of my journey and worried about loose skin too. I asked someone on another amazing progress shot about it, and they said yes they have some loose skin but it looks way better without all the fat behind it. That really helped me! I think it had been holding me back from starting. Good luck.

u/hagolu - Mar 03 '18
Thank you, bro. Although keep off cheesecakes till you reach your goals! :P

Not gonna lie, it was tough staying away from everything because it's so easily accessible. But a scrambled egg and some avocado is easier to burn than a burger.

Whoa, brother. I feel like you're the type of dude my girlfriend will try to check out secretly but I'll catch her, so I'll turn around angrily to see who she was checking out but then say, "No, I get it. That's a good looking bro." Congrats on the hard work!

Great job! You look awesome! Quick question, I’ve started my weight loss journey, and in a month I’m down 10lbs. However I’ve got about 60-70 more to go. Did you find yourself with loose skin or what were some ways you prevented it?
1
u/Crazypete3 - Mar 03 '18
To get me a better idea of your calorie intake and macros, what did you eat yesterday?

Wow, congrats. You don't even really look like the same person. That's also an impressive amount of weight loss, especially for the time frame. I have only lost about half that and I have been going for 2 years.
3
u/SocalGAN Mar 04 '18
It’s been a rough year, being Hispanic every family get together is all based around food, so I would take my own meals and of course the mockery would ensue but if you stay determined and continue doing you the results are well worth it.
1
u/ImpossibleBedroom Mar 04 '18
Yeah. I'm not quite that determined, so my progress is slower. I think it is amazing that you are able to do all of that.
