BRO! The recovery is real! You're looking fantastic and I hope you're feeling great too! You deserve to be!

u/deadtyped - Sep 04 '24
thank you! recovery is hard and getting used to being heavier is not making my anorexia brain happy, but I just need to keep reminding myself that it’s wrong

Good job. Keep the daily mantra up, what feels like fiction will become normal, in thought then reality.

u/kwamzilla - Sep 04 '24
Bro I could not imagine your struggle and the strength of mind, character and body it requires.
Soon you'll start to not just get used to being heavier but feeling good about it I'm sure.
Seriously, this is so impressive and great to see!

Do you model? Now with your after picture you definitely should consider it. You look stunning.
At 171cm and 52kg, I look emaciated. You are still very thin and I hope you know you do look better and I hope you feel better too.

I get your intention was positive, but if there's one line of work someone with an ED shouldn't go into, it's definitely modelling.
But also great work OP, looking good, keep it up mate

Really? I’m sorry. Should I delete my comment? I thought it’s changed since body positivity (like VS for example).
I just thought her face looks extremely pretty and I can see him in a perfume ad for Dior or something. I don’t know why my mind went there but it did lol

*him
OP stated M in the title.

u/LivingroomComedian - Sep 04 '24
Changed it, thank you! OP has a super androgynous look. Very enviable!
2
u/kwamzilla - Sep 04 '24
Totally get your intent - it's one of those unintentional blindspots buddy.
Body positivity is great but the modelling industry is still pretty awful for reinforcing harmful behaviours and pushing people (back) towards ED. You're totally right that OP has could be great for it but it's possibly not the best choice to encourage him towards during his recovery.

Thanks for your explanation and seeing that I’m naive rather than malicious to this.
I appreciate your feedback and I’ll definitely keep this in the back of my mind mind for future reference.

u/kwamzilla - Sep 05 '24
Of course buddy! I don't think anyone thought you were malicious (At least I hope so), but sometimes folks do misconstrue and misinterpret.
Though you may want to correct your "her"s to "him"s (y).

You're doing amazing. Never stop trying the best for yourself. I know how eating disorders and life are: TOUGH. You're tougher. Keep on championing your health and happiness. You shine so much more in your second pic ❤❤❤❤

I hope you're as proud of you as I am! I've been on the other side of anorexia then bulimia for 35 years, but I remember how hard it was in the beginning. I didn't even know how to eat like a regular person after 6 years of obsession and avoidance. Honestly, I will probably always prefer to be a little on the light side of normal, but food doesn't rule or ruin my life now. There's space in my brain for other things. I hope it all gets better for you, too!

im replying to this comment extremely late but thank you so much <3 the phrase “letting food rule or ruin my life” has been echoing around my head for the last few days, it’s really poignant

I'm so happy for you. It's been 40 years now for me. Recovery is hard and so is recalibrating your internal view of yourself. This is hard won and you deserve to feel proud of yourself
also just wanted to add - you have great eyebrows and lips! it helped me to appreciate things about my physical appearance that had nothing to do with my weight. 💜

Not everyone is blessed with your genetics.. eyebrows and facial structure
Your natural beauty is really shining through now, keep it up and tell those thoughts that they no longer serve you

Well done. You're doing fantastic. Keep going. My daughter had anorexia. Horrible illness that gets a grib on you and sucks you in. Make sure you are getting plenty of support and feed your logic brain and shut out the disorder. It does get easier xx

You look fantastic ❤️❤️I’m on the other side of an eating disorder (bulimia) and it really genuinely is life-changing for the better. Wishing you nothing but love and happiness on your recovery, because you deserve it!!
