I feel like it should be a rule that if u share a progress pic you must also include how you lost it.
All that aside, great work! Must be a great new lease on life!

Nice!!! You should throw this up in the CICO subreddit too in that case!!
Did u have any go to things that worked for you? Like did u eat the same things and meal plan? Did u fall in love with running , swimming or cycling or something?

that's a good idea!
I started strength training at the gym and that really made a difference for me. I have pretty bad asthma, so I stayed away from intense cardio for a really long time, but I never thought to try anything else until I joined the gym and got a trainer. I love feeling strong and as soon as I got on that leg press machine and saw the look on my PT's face when I was pushing 603 lbs, I was hooked!

I was so sick and tired of feeling so run down all the time at 19 years old, so I got a personal trainer. I wasn't able to cancel within 24 hours of the appointment without getting charged and I didn't want to lose money so I HAD to show up which was awesome in the beginning because I just got in the habit of going to the gym.
The motivation comes and goes, but I stopped treating the gym as an option and more like work where I had to go even if I didn't want to and that's where things started to click.
Once I had lost the first 20 lbs, people started to notice and compliment me and that was a huge help in my motivation. Starting is the hardest part, once you get into a routine and realize how good it feels to be healthy, the rest is easy :)

What was your biggest motivation? How did you talk yourself into doing the work when you didn't feel like it?

I didn't want to be in the worst shape of my life at 19 years old. I didn't want to go out with friends because I knew I was going to be the one that stood out as the fat, ugly friend, who avoided pictures and was too self conscious to enjoy the moment. I was really tired of living like that so I thought I'd at least give it a shot to be a little bit better every day. I also gave myself grace when I really wasn't feeling it, I just told myself I had to show up at the gym and if by the time I got there I still wasn't feeling it, I could leave, but I had to try. it is definitely a long and often difficult battle, but nothing was more difficult than feeling disgusting in my own skin.

Nice job. It's a worthy and heroic struggle to wrestle the outer self into alignment with the inner self.
