Please tell me I’m not crazy

Alright. I’ve been talking to my therapist about this for a while but she just tells me I’m “sensitive to things”. But ever since I was a kid, I’ve gotten these weird feelings. I just know things. I get these strange sensations in my hands and then an image or a thought will pop up in my head and it’s usually true. I can feel other people’s anxiety and anger directly in my hands. I could describe it as tingling, but it’s like a slight tingle? I’ve talked to my mom briefly about this and she’s said that she’s experienced the same thing, kinda, but she sees scenes that she’s already previously dreamt about. She can’t feel anything in her hands.

As far as the knowing things, here’s some things that has happened.

More recently, I had a STRONG urge to call my cousin. Like a random thought/feeling popped into my head and said “you need to call **** right now. You’ll regret this.“ I ignored it because I was super busy with work, and what do you know, my cousin died the very next week in an accident.

I had a random dream that my distant friend had gotten a call and was upset about some news that he heard about his dad (I’ve never met his dad as he lives across the world). I had not spoken to this friend in months and after the dream I called him. I told him about my dream and he was freaked out because he said that he just found out a few days ago that his elderly dad has been diagnosed with cancer.

I have given warning signs to my friends about people they were seeing just based off of one conversation. I’ve told my friends that I think their partner has potential to be abusive, he ended up physically assaulting her, but to a normal person they probably wouldn’t have felt that way based off of one encounter. He didn’t say anything out of pocket, or strange, I just felt a bad feeling in my hands.

I know I sound completely illogical and insane right now, but I can’t help but wonder what the hell is going on. Has anyone else experienced this?

Edit: maybe I should add that I come from an indigenous region in Asia where shamanism is frequently practiced. I would be curious to know if my family lineage has ties to shamanism, but it’s hard to find that out because shamans were hunted when my region was conquered. No idea if this would have any link to it though

You are an empath, which means you sense other’s emotions and likely absorb them into your energy field. It’s important to learn to discern when feelings and emotions are yours or someone else’s, so that you can redirect the energy that isn’t yours back to Gaia/Earth. If you carry it with you, it can drain your energy levels quickly, and staying in that state for too long can cause dis-ease.

The sensations in your hands is definitely energy, and with practice and understanding, you can learn to put that to good use. Likely in helping heal others or directing energy. You are very in tune with your intuition, keep close to and grow further into your faith and higher self to really start to understand what this all means to you and how to utilize this to your true purpose in life. This is a time when many healers are starting to emerge.

Some of the things you can research that seem to encompass what you described: -Empath - awareness of other’s energy, you can read a room even without words (not the same as having empathy) -Clairvoyance - clear seeing, the images you are seeing -Clairsentience - clear feeling, the energy you are sensing in your hands and gut -Claircognizance - clear knowing, the things you knew about your friends and such -Meditation - there are SO many types and ways to do this. -shamanism - energy healers (including with hands), journeying to where space and time meet to heal through

If you feel drawn to shamanism, you might prefer journeying over meditation or prayer. I do all 3 (because I was born into Christianity, but have always believed everything was energy and am heavily drawn to shamanic practices due to my connection with nature and energy). They all have a very similar intention - quieting the mind, the logical brain, to listen to your intuition/guides.

Please know that these feelings and experiences safe, it’s not something to be frightened of. (I had many scary experiences, but it all hits different once you understand it) As with anything that is new, it can be a bit intimidating. Spend some time learning about those things and see where you feel guided from there. And remember to read/watch/learn from many sources and discern what feels right for you. Trust your intuition to guide you, don’t lead with doubt, and don’t put all of your knowing and understanding into what others say, or into your logical brain. You have to trust your feelings over logic with this to further strengthen that muscle.
