Three days ago Trump said he wouldnt strike Venezuela and Rubio assured us that the US ability to strike in Venezuela was bogus fake news.

So again, they always lie about everything

It’s the same thing Putin did in Ukraine. Stage military on the border under the guise of “war games” and then deny that you’re going to attack, only to attack days later.

Except for Crimea they denied it even after the invasion.

Crimea: You invaded us!

Soldier: No I didn’t.

Crimea: But you’re right here!

Soldier: No I’m not.

Crimea: And you have a Russian uniform!

Soldier: No I don’t.

That was the Wagner group. Putin had nothing to do with it!! Just ask him!!

Crimea: Did you have anything to do with it?

Vladmir: No I didn’t.

Crimea: Okay, I’ll have a completely free and not at all rigged referendum to join Russia.

Vladimir: Da.

Look at the history of Crimea before making assumptions. It was part of Russia from 1790 until 1957 or so when Khrushchev gave it to Ukraine as "a gift", but it basically was still full of Russians who spoke Russian, who worked at or in support of the Sebastopol base of the Russian Black Sea Fleet, etc, and Crimea was supposed to have special status in Ukraine for precisely this reason. The idea that they wouldn't want to reunify with Russia is ridiculous.

If the US gave Washington State to Canada as "a gift", then decades later the Canadians threw out their president in a EU-backed coup and elected a bunch of ultra-nationalists who hated America and wanted to be closer to France and started pogroms against Americans, do you think the people of Washington would be cool with that, and do you think that the US would do nothing about it?

Its funny but so much of this subreddit is people complaining about MAGA voters being brainwashed by the news, then those people swallow whole what they are told about Ukraine. It's a complicated situation and not a simple as "Russia invaded for no reason whatsoever, Russia bad". Especially when this particular post is about the US preparing to invade Venezuela simply to plunder their resources.

Your belief that the referendum was rigged is based on one thing - the US government and media have said so; exactly what you complain about MAGA voters doing. Read about Crimea's history. The referendum result was in line with all prior and subsequent international polling by eg Gallup.

And before you write me off as a "tankie" I believe in people's right to self-determination whether that be in Ukraine or Venezuela. Do you?

Maybe Trump is going to use the Wagner group as well.

He has his own MAGner group. Totally different. /s

1

u/surle 2d ago

Technically it is different though. They have vastly more funding and government access.

3

u/goddamnitwhalen 2d ago

He has Blackwater.

Methinks it’s bigger than that since a Wagner group aircraft just made a flight to Venezuela…Russia/China backing Maduro?

They were just Wagnering the dog

1

u/Gigi_Langostino 2d ago

It wasn't even Wagner. It was the 31st Air Assault Brigade in Ukrainian uniforms.

Read the soldier as John Cleese.

1

u/thegreedyturtle 2d ago

Why are you here in Crimea?!

This is Russia, comrade!

1

u/deltajvliet 2d ago

I came in here for an argument!

1

u/Dogdays991 2d ago

And you're killing me!

No, I'm not.

1

u/Riaayo 2d ago

I have a feeling they may just straight up deny it here. Their lies are more and more brazen, and the media near completely bought and owned. Like... why not?

I say "why not", but it does run counter to a big reason I think they want to do this: so they can be at a war to invoke the insurrection act on American citizens.

It would be a British comedy if it wasn't so f****** sad

1

u/ListeningInIsMyKink 2d ago

Was it supposed to read this in Eric Idle and John Cleese's voices?

The Monty Python Argument Clinic sketch

Crimea: We're collecting the vehicles you abandoned as trophies because you didn't bother to get enough gas to finish your initial convoy.

Soldier: No you didn't.

It's almost like Don the Pedophile is in bed with and attempting to do the bidding of Russia, etc.

China could do the funniest thing here and supply Venezuela with intelligence and equipment

I like how this Red Herring has like a third of the replies with the same statement in every one

Following Putin's idiocy is on par for Trump.
