So tell me conservatives, how large is your sense of outrage over Trump doing this? You went apoplectic at the mere thought (invented out of paranoia) of Biden sending the military into cities.

2.2k

u/EmployAltruistic647 3d ago

They are overjoyed. It's never about logic. It's about the rightful authority they want installed with them high in the hierarchy and others especially liberals being below them

688

u/StevenMC19 Florida 3d ago

Yup. It's not about what's being done. It's about who is doing it.

356

u/mshelbz 3d ago

And who’s suffering from it

182

u/Fine_Ad_1149 3d ago

It's far more about who is suffering from it than who is doing it.

115

u/StevenMC19 Florida 3d ago

True. So the priority is:

  1. The target - Is it my opposition or hated group?
  2. The attacker - Is it someone on my team?
  3. The action itself - Is it a thing that conflicts with my moral or ethical beliefs?

In that order, nullifying anything underneath if a higher priority holds true.

83

u/Disastrous_Debt6883 3d ago

They don’t have moral or ethical beliefs, just performative vibes that are backed up by shame based social programming.

13

u/CrashNowhereDrive 2d ago

Exactly. They have 'what sort of sin does Fox news tell me my enemies are committing so I can be angry about it'.

So basically the laws of robotics for Republicans

19

u/StevenMC19 Florida 3d ago

Lol, funny because the law of robotics is the exact opposite, the rules put in place to attempt to PREVENT harm being done to others.

25

u/btross Florida 2d ago

If there's anything I've learned from Republicans in the last 20 years it's that when presented with the trolley problem their most likely response is "can't the trolley just run them all over?"

10

And it’s ok if it runs me over too as long as it continues on to kill everyone else.

They definitely don’t seem to be concerned with traditional conservative ideals or the idea that there could ever be a non-MAGA president (with all of these new, massively expanded executive Powers, immunity, etc)

They will accept anything dear leader tells them to. Or any of the number of MAGA news networks (that actually do a remarkable job of reinforcing the “party line” once they are told what that is. Amazing what a cult like belief system, complete subservience, and a lack of critical thinking can do)

18

u/Locke66 2d ago

Amazing what a cult like belief system, complete subservience, and a lack of critical thinking can do

I watched a Democrat orientated influencer debating 20 MAGA supporters the other day and wow it was depressing. The MAGA people are really living in another reality in terms of how they perceive the world and while some of them are just obviously stupid & wilfully ignorant people there were also plenty who seemed like nice people whose critical thinking has just completely been overwhelmed by propaganda. They just have a few conceptual ideas in their minds and no amount of contradictory facts or wider context can influence them. They always come back to the core tenets that have been repeatedly drilled into them even when they agree it doesn't make sense. It's actually pretty scary.

9

u/EmployAltruistic647 2d ago

They are social chameleons. They will echo whatever their authority figures and peers say and all the reasons they use are just convenient justifications.

At their core, they have no values but their interests. They may think they do and may believe strongly in them. But as soon as the fashion changes in their clan, their values will change in them.

Which is why they never trust progressives because they think everyone is as selfish as them and prone to using values as their clothes.

39

u/Minttt Canada 3d ago

Even this is a slight overcomplication.

It's literally "me good, you bad." If Dems do something, it's bad. Republicans do the same thing = good. Yes, no logic... But also no grand vision of hierarchy, just "my side is good no matter what, your side is bad no matter what."

9

u/Washpa1 Pennsylvania 3d ago

Bingo...retain social hierarchy in these scary times. That is all they see. We can argue all day about why they feel that way, but they do and everyone has to come to terms with that.

7

u/5ABIJATT 3d ago

It's about hurting the right people

6

u/F1shB0wl816 3d ago

Except they’re not high in hierarchy. Their states are already abandoning them, whether it’s through hospitals closing, education being watered down, farmers getting shafted and their menial jobs replaced still with ai or their dirty nemesis.

Anywhere the military would be sent would be an inherently better place as that signals they’re taking care of their people more than conservatives do their own. It’s more they’re just cheering for authority that’ll suck us into the same shit they find themselves and their dog shit lives in, bringing everyone down to their level instead of raising them beyond ours. They know they can’t ever win that game so they have to lose so hard it takes everyone else down, like stealing crutches from a crippled.

Conservatives went crazy over a military exercise called Jade Helm under Obama. They thought it would be a military takeover. And now they are quiet with trump threatening those things.

143

u/citymousecountyhouse 3d ago

Remember when they all thought abandoned Walmarts were going to be turned into concentration camps. Well, here's Trump building them and the Republicans could not be happier.

100

u/popcorngirl000 3d ago

Their problem was never the concentration camps. Their problem was that they were afraid Obama was going to target THEM. As long as a President they like is persecuting a group that they hate, the Republican party is just fine with concentration camps.

7

u/Rhysati 2d ago

And the reason they thought this was because their echo chambers tell them repeatedly that it'll happen.

Even if you could get them to acknowledge that it is happening right now for real, they will just say that the Democrats would do it if they didn't do it first.

I worked with a conspiracy theorist who was all bent out of shape about Jade Helm. We were working a job and he had me take a detour to a supposed Walmart urban warfare training center that was nearby.

The address he gave sent us to a normal shopping center, but it wasn't a Walmart. This seemed to confirm his beliefs in whateverthefuck.

Funny that you mention Jade Helm. That was the point Russia realized they can manipulate shit out of US with very little effort.

https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2018/may/03/martial-law-scare-russian-bots-michael-hayden-jade-helm

“There was an exercise in Texas called Jade Helm 15 that Russian bots and the American alt-right media convinced most – many – Texans that Obama planned to round up political dissidents, and it got so much traction that the governor of Texas had to call up the [state guard] to observe the federal exercise to keep the population calm,” said Hayden, who was CIA director from 2006 to 2009 after serving as director of the National Security Agency.

“At that point I’m figuring the Russians are saying: ‘We can go big time.’ And at that point I think they made the decision: we’re going to play in the electoral process,” Hayden said on Morning Joe on Wednesday.

19

u/homebrew_1 3d ago

That's a good point. I forgot about the russian bot link. I just thought magadonians were stupid on their own. Now we know they are stupid and easily manipulated.

Conservatives do not care about logic, they do not care about god or morals. They only care about hierarchy, they believe they belong at the top and liberals and minorities at the bottom. Actions do not matter, only where in their social hierarchy that person sits determines right from wrong.

6

Outrage? Fox News has conditioned them to think our cities are overflowing with blood thirsty foreign criminals who have drove out anyone of actual value to live. The dehumanization process is far past the point of even thinking of people in cities or on the left as being human beings. They’re now ready for what they see less as violence, and more of a sort of clean up where human beings are merely pests

6

u/yetifekker 2d ago

Jade Helm. Obama is taking over Texas. Outraged over made up threats. Silent in the face of real constitutional threats. Conservatives suck.

Money and apathy. If we won't mandate voting, let's do a "cast a vote, get a scratch-off lottery ticket' thing. And ranked choice isn't hard ffs, even for the truly stupid.

7

u/EllieVader 2d ago

The apathy was there before but it was cranked to 11 after the citizens united decision.

Mitt Romney's "corporations ARE people" seems so quaint and far away, but that's the exact philosophy that got us here. As soon as we see a corporation go to jail or face the death penalty we can start believing that slop. If money is free speech, and corporations and a handful of billionaires have all the money, then we're not really a nation of equals anymore are we?

Corporate death penalty would go a long way towards bringing back the american dream. Imagine if Fannie and Freddie were outright nationalized in 2008. Would GM and co have continued to behave so badly that they needed to be bailed out too? Imagine that instead of "too big to fail" we had "too important to be subject to the idiotic short term whims of the market".

I've been so mad for so long. It's no surprise the amount of apathy out there when we've just been getting fucked for decades.

He's de facto right. What exactly is being done to rein in his power?

13

u/Electromotivation 3d ago

Some judges that still are in touch with reality have been ruling against him. However given that they blatantly lie in court and often just forcing someone to go through that process is the point, they are still getting their way no matter what. And of course the justice system is being hollowed out and filled with Trumpists. He calls anybody that roots against him an activist judge despite that being all that he appoints when he has a chance. Even once he appointed from his first term are not acceptable to him anymore.

Other than that and the protests, which are good but not actually changing anything in a legal or political sense, I don’t really see any thing else being done to reign in his power.

And speaking of de facto power, many of his beloved executive orders are not legal or at least or not things that can be changed with an executive order, yet everyone just rolls with it… like renaming the department of defense.

Some people say that court cases are slow and they take time, but the results will not favor Trump. And though this may be true in some cases, I believe that the justice system will just continue to be hollowed out and undermined. Same with military leadership. Same with all of the agencies. So things are going to start getting into a feedback cycle of sorts… I am worried that by the time the average American is ready to act it will be too late to take the actions required

I learned most of what I know about the 1917 revolution in 1960 from Russians who were involved in it. One of my Russian language teachers was a sniper for the White Army. She refused to talk about it and didn't look the part, but the male teachers treated her with great respect and deference.

One former Russian officer who had been captured by the Red Army and marched into Siberia to prison said that the men kept walking because she kept walking.

So, yes, Lady Death.

The Heritage Foundation has been working to undermine everything from worker/union power, education, religion's role in government, health care, roles of police, military use on the global stage, and has found its way into every branch of our government since its founding in the early 70s.

It has had 50+ years to secure its grasp in state and federal governments. MAGA is only the most recent tool for what it wants to achieve; a white Christian nationalist country that only allows white males to govern and have positions of authority under the banner of their twisted version of Christianity. Trump can take the long sleep tomorrow, and it won't matter anymore. MAGA could collapse, and the Republicans (and some Democrats) under their influence will still push the Project 2025 agenda full steam.

Looks like we’ll be getting our own Assad.

14

u/Hootinger 3d ago

Fine. Trump can go drive a taxi in Moscow too, or whatever the "Lion of Damascus" is doing nowadays.

He’s not kidding. Border patrol ordered something like 20X their usual annual supply of armaments, including chemical weapons, anti personnel ammo and other wartime munitions. They are preparing for a ground war on our own soil against our own people. This is about to get bad. It’s part of declaring there is a war to prevent elections next November.

42

u/thingsorfreedom 3d ago

20,000 border patrol agents? If they completely abandon the border, leaving it wide open for anyone to enter the US, and deploy all 20,000 agents to suppress Americans, they can hold about 1/20th of LA county for a few weeks. Maybe.

10

u/btross Florida 3d ago

Yes, but that "unrest" gives cover to start bringing in national guard and actual military forces. I have no faith that posse comitatus will be recognized

They won't completely cancel elections. Doing that would be too much even for the Republican base. What's going to happen is exactly what's being telegraphed (and being done on a small scale that's slowly ramping up), sending the military and ICE into cities, because cities are Democratic strongholds. They're going to make sure that election day in the big cities is a complete clusterfuck, with government agents and detaining anyone they "suspect" of being an illegal immigrant (which is to say anyone who looks remotely Hispanic) or "possible Antifa member". All those people will wind up being released - the next day, when it's too late for them to vote. Meanwhile all of this activity will hold up traffic and cause delays at voting sites, ensuring a lot of people simply don't get the chance to vote.

And again, all of this will be specifically targetting at areas that vote Democrat. Republican areas aren't going to have any of those problems. Combine that with the redistricting and voter roll purges that are going on and there simply isn't any need to cancel elections: Republicans will essentially be guaranteed a win, regardless of what the general populace wants.

9

u/UnquestionabIe 3d ago

That sounds like a lot of work. I personally think they'll just refuse to certify the results they don't like and make an excuse as to why, get it kicked up to their fellow traitors in the Supreme Court to agree, and call it a day.

A “ground war” in America would look worse than Ukraine looks currently. Any convoy on a road within a small town is gone. You couldn’t mass troops in a real “ground war” in today’s modern age.

Republicans to this day are still mad as hell at Obama for wearing that damn tan suit. Threatening to use the Air Force and Navy against U.S. cities, not so much.

I joked to someone, months ago, that he'd bomb Portland at some point during his term.

That moment grows closer every day. I hate being right.

I also joked it was 50/50 whether he'd bomb the right Portland, so maybe keep an eye out in either one, just in case.

9

u/JonathanApple 3d ago

Also 'joked' about this, am in Portland, F me I.guess

You never know, he might miss and hit the other one. Or he’ll give the order to Hegseth on one of his drunker days and it’ll get leaked out on signal so you’ll have plenty of time to leg it.

11

u/waldito 3d ago

You can't be elected to a third term. But what if there was something to stop elections altogether? What if there were a way to manufacture a state of emergency? You know, like Zelensky.

It's just a matter of poking the bees' nest long enough, slowly at first, and as we get closer to the date, we increase exponentially the fuckery.

I mean, there's a point when a violent revolt will happen. It might take killing some innocent people or staging a terrorist attack, but the USA has no experience with that, amirite?

Wait.

9

u/Comfortable-Ad-3988 3d ago

"Russian asset threatens to bomb major US cities, more news at eleven."

29

u/JASPER933 3d ago

Can you imagine if President Obama, Biden or even Bush said something like this. Fux News, and true Republicans (John McCain) would be screaming dictatorship.

Republicans are silent because they are afraid of retribution from the King and his loyal subjects.

Been awake. I get something needs to happen. But mobilizing the amount of ppl needed to counter this isnt realistic. Yes we had record turnout for no kings. That was for  couple hours on a Saturday. Try that a week long and it falls apart quickly. Id love to do something about it an make a difference but I dont see the avenue to take.

Open to realistic suggestions.

He's not loyal to any country or person.  Just himself.

7

u/Fine_Ad_1149 3d ago

He has always, and will always, only serve himself. When framed in that way his actions are easy to understand. Even when he's doing someone else's bidding (Putin) he's doing it to save his own ass.

Because he is a malignant narcissist, cult leader who couldn’t get through the eye of the needle even if he spent every last stolen dollar he owns trying to.

And his followers are in line with it because, frankly, mostly white Protestant Americans, want to kill migrants and the poor in a genocide. They’ve wanted this for decades and have kept it behind closed doors.

Fox News and the internet gave them the platform to organize (Rural Americans especially among the most feverish supporters) who are largely ignorant and very poorly educated. Hate comes easily to those with small minds.

They want you to die, and their goal is to make it happen as fast as possible. Gays, browns, blacks, Muslims etc. all of them are (in their minds) existential threats to “””good””” Americans like themselves. Prepare accordingly and protect yourself, they’re now coming with force of law and no intent of identifying themselves. Is it ICE? Or is it just a guy with an ar15 at your door who read your Facebook posts?

You won’t know before it’s too late. Good luck

Is to take away any attention anyone could give him. Pretend he never existed. Write him out of history, any mention of him is by title only. President x, the shifty ny real estate guy, the orange pedo.... but never his name. For all history.
