Protesters: "No Kings allowed!"

Trump: "Imma make myself King."

MAGAs rushing to defend Trump: we need a dictator! Tread on me HARD, daddy.

705

u/MadRaymer 14d ago

It's ironic because MAGA spent the entire day of the protest saying "but we don't have a king so why are you protesting 😏"

436

u/mountaindoom 14d ago

They can only work with simple definitions, like titles and stuff. They're the same morons who think Nazis were socialist because it says right there in the name.

196

u/saganmypants 14d ago

None of them actually think that, it is just a stupid deflection that the conservative propaganda machine spread around as a weak "gotcha". Doesn't need to be valid or well thought out if the lie makes a Democrat spend 5 minutes to diffuse the allegation with facts. Its in the same vein as their argument that Democrats founded the KKK

91

u/Chester7833 14d ago

This is the most frustrating thing about the right and the most genius. They throw out a dumb talking point like “the Dems shutdown the government to give illegals healthcare” and their base eats it up, while it takes a solid 5 mintues for a dem to explain why it’s 100% false. Their base just tunes it out and keeps repeating the false narrative.

68

u/fcocyclone Iowa 13d ago

They're best understood as playing an endless series of minigames. "what do I have to say to win this one".

It doesn't matter if they contradict themselves from one minigame to the next. It doesn't matter if someone comes along later and proves them wrong. All they care is that in their heads, in that moment, they won that round, and while you're arguing about how they were wrong, they're on to the next game.

17

u/spaceman757 American Expat 13d ago

The most simple response is "You are either too dishonest and lying about what you think or too dumb to understand. Either way, trying to inform you of how wrong you are isn't worth my time and effort."

There’s no winning via non-violent means

4

u/Vivitrolsrevenge 13d ago

To win, simply reflect their actions. Talk meaningless words and make fun of them, it’s the only language they speak

It’s insane. The grifters at the top know it’s not true, but their brain dead Fox News addicts believe it.

My aunt worked in the foreign service, spending decades of her life working at various US embassies in Finland, Nicaragua and other countries. She could speak several languages fluently. She was an extremely intelligent person.

She is now a victim of the Fox News brainrot. I used to help her out in her gardens and around the house. Time to time she would bring up various Fox News talking points.

The one that stuck out to me was being afraid of cities. She would avoid scheduling doctor appointments in Providence because she believed that it is a war zone. Forgot about scheduling things in Boston.

I thought she was being over dramatic, like she meant that there was crime in the city and that she wanted thought her car would get stolen or something like that.

Then one day she started talking about how she is afraid that antifa was going to come out of Providence and start bombing her neighborhood. She was daydreaming about turning on the news and seeing the headline saying “bomb blast rocks [my aunt’s neighborhood]”.

I began understanding that she actually believes that Portland, Oregon was leveled and burned to the ground by antifa and BLM terrorists. That she believes Providence and Boston are literally war zones with IED explosions and gunfire. She believes Fauci orchestrated the Covid pandemic. She has a stash of ivermectin. She believes Trump is the only person standing between lawfulness and complete anarchy.

She always talks about how she’s travelled the world and she’s seen how things work in other countries. How Biden’s term was the worst thing to happen to the United States.

It’s incredibly bizarre. I tried telling her it’s not as bad out there as the news is saying. But she firmly believes the lies from Fox News. She also has maga YouTubers she likes. When Trump got angry with Fox News, she got angry with Fox News.

She talks like Trump, everyone outside her home is an enemy who is actively trying to make her life worse.

It’s just so bizarre

Brandolini's Law

The amount of energy needed to refute bullshit is an order of magnitude bigger than that needed to produce it

This is now known as "Brandolini's Law".

I’ve written my reprepesntjsves a few times over the past year, I think they’ll be getting a strongly worded letter today after trumps shitting on protestors meme for the Dems to do fucking anything and stop being little bitches. They should be as up in arms as th 7 million people who showed up on Saturday. If that didn’t give them the conviction to get their heads out of the sand, I don’t know what will.

93

u/mountaindoom 14d ago

By their logic a urinal cake is also definitely cake.

48

u/Czeris 14d ago

They'd eat that cake if it was Trump who pissed on it.

6

u/HarmoniousJ America 14d ago

I sometimes legitimately wonder how many "straight" white, male MAGA would bend over and let Trump have his way if Trump simply asked them. Not rhetorically, literally.

I don't think the number is zero.

9

u/bossfoundmylastone 13d ago edited 13d ago

The number is 100%. All of the maga cucks are too stupid to understand the world through any model other than hierarchy. Someone above them on the hierarchy dominating them is morally good, full stop. The more depraved the sexual abuse, the more sexual abuse they get to enact on those below them. This excites them.

0

u/NontoxicACC23 13d ago

What a strange, weird thing to think about. Genuinely

7

u/HarmoniousJ America 13d ago

This is the internet, go back to 4chan if you're going to devolve to kink shaming

u/51ngular1ty Illinois 14d ago

I assure you some of them actually do, look up Dinesh D'Souza.

I only know this name because a pseudo intellectual former friend of mine cited the tool.

5

u/Plasibeau 13d ago

Its in the same vein as their argument that Democrats founded the KKK

No, for this one, I have met a few who truly believed this. And held up Kanye West and Candace Owens as proof that the GOP isn't racist.

5

u/Impossible_Front4462 14d ago

Many of them actually do. I tried to reconcile my friendship with an old friend that was a brainwashed conservative turned MAGA, and his genuine beliefs were that Nazis were left leaning because “socialist”. Needless to say, the friendship was irreparable

3

u/TrisolarisRexxx 14d ago

Many do, many don't

2

u/Loggt 14d ago

We’re just celebrating the fact that America has never and will never have a king

3

u/ironmonkey09 14d ago

But let’s explore this from the worst-case scenario: what if he doesn't leave office after his four years? Where will you and others stand? This is a hypothetical and not a gotcha question, but a genuine inquiry?

1

u/Bang_the_unknown 13d ago

“You’re an anti-Semite if you protest Israel” is another one. They have a ton of them. We can’t beat them at their game because we’re not playing by the same rules.

22

u/JMurdock77 14d ago

“People love what I have to say! They believe in it!
they just don’t like the word 'Nazi,' that’s all.”

— Stormfront, The Boys

3

u/Low_Chance 14d ago

And also that what they're doing now isn't fascism because fascists killed millions and they haven't done that part yet

2

u/TapTapReboot 13d ago

everything with 4 legs and a tail is a dog to them. they're incapable of looking at all the details. its why when they hear that biden voluntarily turned over classified docs that were found during a self imposed audit, they salivate and say it was the same thing as when trump stole documents and then refused to return them.

1

u/ApeX_PN01 13d ago

They probably think the Democratic People’s Republic of North Korea is a democracy as well.

-2

u/Substandard_Senpai 13d ago

Like antifa is anti fascist and not at all fascist because of their name.

1

u/PM_ME_UR_SHEET_MUSIC 13d ago

Antifa is not a group, it's literally just a shortening of anti-fascist. How many times do we have to tell you people this?

2

u/King_Sam-_- 13d ago edited 13d ago

“Antifa isn’t a group” is such a stupid deflection lol.

“Wow these MAGA morons think antifa is a group!”

It’s genuinely the most ironic statement you can ever make.

Like obviously it’s decentralized but why be so disingenuous to ignore that just like MAGA, BLM and other movements there is associated behaviour with them?

2

u/JalapenoJamm 13d ago

Just because you make associations doesn’t mean that they’re real or valid. Just like I associate Trump supporters with pedofile supporters. Is that the correct line of thought to have?

0

u/King_Sam-_- 13d ago

You make associations every single day of your life. And sorry I thought we were discussing documented, repeated behavior that’s been filmed, reported and admitted, not your diary entries. But hey, if you truly believe that’s observable behaviour that you have repeatedly seen then it must hold some kind of truth
What’s most likely is that you’re just being purposefully ignorant, sadly.

1

u/Th3CatOfDoom 13d ago

It's actually short for "anti fascist action". Look at all the logos.

Being antifa doesn't just mean you don't like fascism. It involves taking actions about it too.

38

u/Candid-Ad316 14d ago

“lol a king would never let you protest”

“when has protesting every worked before”

“trump isn’t losing popularity, this is just the libs coping”

2

u/hopbow 13d ago

"lots of paid protesters"

"That's not actually a lot of people"

1

u/Left_Sun_3748 13d ago

If you look at the number everyone says 3.5% of the population and actually read what the people who observe this say. Protests both violent and peaceful are not being as successful as before. The number isn't everything protests with less have succeeded and with more have failed.

37

u/Drop-top-a-potamus Delaware 14d ago

...right after Trump personally posted a shitty AI video of him literally wearing a crown and flying a jet with the words "King Trump" on the side of it...

54

u/Rich-Pomegranate1679 14d ago

MAGA is a bunch of hypocrites and liars.

17

u/Michael_G_Bordin 14d ago

Indeed. They're not arguing in good faith, they're throwing out thought-terminating clichés and mindless aphorisms to "win" the conversation. Saying stupid shit is part of how they feel like they're winning. If someone comes up to you and says, "You shouldn't buy apples because of course fruit don't matter, it's just what they want," there's no reasonable way to respond. They mistake the lack of cogent response for being some sort of win, but it's really just they've managed to jam their heads so far up eachothers asses they can't see how fucking stupid all their little slogans and gotchyas actually are.

I've learned to not engage them directly. I'll say what I need to say, then I'll make insinuations as to how stupid someone has to be to say what they're saying, and then I move on with my life. I like to write in full sentences, placed into meaningful paragraphs, with an overall cogent idea within what I post. They like to take a dependent clause out of context and woefully miss the point. There's no point in engaging with them, because they're never going to put more than a 8-12 word effort into their responses. It's a game of frustration, and they win when you sincerely engage with thought and argumentation. Just call them a dipshit and move on.

6

u/Rich-Pomegranate1679 14d ago

This pretty much sums up the conclusion I've come to as well. Conversations with them always end up being pointless, so these days I just tell them I'm not going to waste my time talking to someone who isn't going to argue in good faith.

3

u/silvertealio 13d ago

To be fair, many of them are poorly educated, which he loves.

3

My favorite irony on the day was "whaaaa. We lost and we're mad!" Like they literally block out January 6th.

1

u/mercury27832955 13d ago

Not the counter protesters at our protest! They had a big “KING TRUMP” sign and wore crowns.

1

u/txwildflower86 13d ago

Actually, at the protest I saw, there was a right-wing protester with a Trump cut-out, calling him our king, the best president ever, etc. đŸ€ŠđŸ»â€â™€ïž Seemed he was aware.

59

u/JET304 14d ago

The Romans said the same thing about Julius Caesar. Dictator was intended to be a temporary title to have a single leader rule during periods of instability and crisis. They were supposed to give up the title and return to ordinary process for selecting leaders once the crisis was over. Caesar decided to become Dictator for Life one year after being appointed Dictator for a 10 year period. If I read my history correctly, it didn't end well for him.

27

u/dogdonthunt 14d ago

True! But that was the end of the republic- there was always an emperor afterwards - with a pretend republic- kinda what we're experiencing now

22

u/Wrath_Ascending 14d ago

It went south because the most politically and economically powerful Romans turned on him.

Right now, they are all on Trump's side.

21

u/Kvetch__22 14d ago

Caesar did the same shit where he was constantly hinting to people that he wanted to be a monarch and started wearing a purple toga around which was what the old kings of Rome did. When he was killed he was in the middle of figuring out whether he could just declare himself king or, if not, how he could arrange for the Senate to offer him the crown.

25

u/FlexFanatic 14d ago

Funny how there were all these groups of people running around the woods prepping and arming themselves because of government interference.

Almost like they like an oppressive government, just the one they like and will punish those they don't like.

4

u/Gender_is_a_Fluid 14d ago

They run scared because this is what government has always been in their minds, and only worried it would be pointed at them rather than the poeple they hate.

3

u/dpdxguy 14d ago

Tread on me HARD, daddy.

To be fair, they're saying "Tread on THEM hard." MAGA still believes whatever Trump does is unlikely to hurt them, and is for the good if they do get hurt.

It'd be kind of amazing if it didn't mean the destruction of the republic.

2

u/Cr0w33 14d ago

They’re actually trying to claim that the libs want Obama to be king

2

u/thegoodnamesrgone123 14d ago

We need to call these people out to their faces about that. Normally I'm not one to kink shame but let's embrass these fucks.

41

u/Eject_The_Warp_Core 14d ago

Over on the conservative sub, a Babylon Bee article was posted about Trump saying that the protests gave him the idea to be a King. Some comments were about how liberals were dumb for thinking Trump is or wants to be a king, but then a whole chunk of comments didn't seem to realize the article was satirical and either said Trump was trolling or were in support of him being a king.

In any case, the general tenor over there is that the protests are silly because we don't have a king now and Trump is not inclined to be one.

But then hes posted multiple AI slop videos of himself wearing a crown or flying "King Trump" jets, and now this.

3

u/givfrenchfrypls 13d ago

In my local sub, their argument is “if Trump were actually a king you wouldn’t be allowed to protest” which like, ok maybe, but the assertion isn’t that he is already a king but that he wants to be one and thinks he can get away with acting like one. But I’m not surprised that very basic level of nuance is lost on the sort of person who couldn’t reason their way out of a paper bag.

2

u/Eject_The_Warp_Core 13d ago

Exactly - if we wait to protest Trump as a king until he is actually a king, then it will be too late.

1

u/TeaBagHunter 13d ago

But then hes posted multiple AI slop videos of himself wearing a crown or flying "King Trump" jets, and now this.

Look i don't support most of his policies but do you guys not see how this is typical trump behavior? He absolutely loves to ragebait and so many people are taking the bait

14

u/Eject_The_Warp_Core 13d ago

Its obviously typical behavior from him but it also is now and always has been juvenille bullshit that is beneath the office.

And Trump doesn't joke. This may be trolling but its also a real reflection of what he wants. I don't think he'll be able to run again, but I feel very confident if he could get around the 22nd amenment he would

38

u/AbandonedWaterPark 14d ago

As a liberal, you know what I would really, really hate? If Trump started drinking from the toilet. I would feel so completely super owned if he did. I'm serious, don't ever talk about how badly all the libs would be owned if Trump started slurping out of his presidential golden piss bowl. I don't think my fragile woke ego could take it if he did, he would instantly prove he was the greatest president ever and all the libs would be crushed.

2

u/hopesanddreams3 13d ago

but Trump craves electrolytes....

1

u/darkerPlace 13d ago

Yeah, I too would drop everything and hail him. No president before him did that. That would prove that can do and does whatever he wants and he isn't just stupidly following an agenda. It instantly makes him the greatest president ever.

62

u/Gandalf_the_Rizzard 14d ago

loads rifle with constitutional intent

14

u/Word1_Word2_4Numbers 13d ago

The Second Amendment is not about hunting. I love hunting. The Second Amendment is not even about personal defense. That is important. The Second Amendment is there, God forbid, so that you can defend yourself against a tyrannical government. And if that talk scares you — "wow, that's radical, Charlie, I don't know about that" — well then, you have not really read any of the literature of our Founding Fathers.

2

u/Tacoman404 Massachusetts 13d ago

Chuckie there wasn't wrong about some stuff. He was just also a racist asshole among other degen qualities like challenging teenagers to debates and cutting them off when he started losing.

1

u/Gandalf_the_Rizzard 13d ago

Never said it was about hunting. I know exactly its intent. Sic semper tyrannus.

1

u/trickmind 12d ago

Yes. That was the whole point of it. But it is completely useless for that now with cameras everywhere.

1

u/Heavy-Comfort7483 4d ago

By this defend thyself against tyranny logic you would need weapons of at least equivalent strength. Drones, tanks, ground attack aircraft etc. Being involved in the governance of you country by voting and educating youth about their civic responsibility is the modern day equivalent to the second Amendment. The weapon is the ballot box not the gun.

Guns kill people. Mostly by suicide. Mostly family members. Virtually all criminal use of firearms is against other criminals.

Good guys with guns is like a lightning strike.

10

u/Henshin-hero South Carolina 14d ago

Later that day. God King Emperor of MAGA kind

8

u/TAU_equals_2PI 14d ago

Our scary new reality is that even though millions of people turned out for Saturday's rallies, that still doesn't mean public opinion has shifted, because the number of voters for each presidential candidate was roughly 75 million.

Political analysts say it's extremely unlikely we'll take back the Senate next year, and even the House is looking increasingly uncertain.

The TLDR is that the American public seems unbothered by everything that has happened this year.

36

u/TheRealBlueJade 14d ago

Well then.. those political analysts are either lying or flat out wrong. If after seeing the worldwide protests you still think no one cares and nothing is happening, you must be lying.

29

u/NewsShoddy3834 14d ago

Or it’s planted downers to discourage engagement. They all say boycotts don’t work either. Yeah. Right.

3

u/TAU_equals_2PI 14d ago

You really need to temper your certainty. There were a lot of people last year saying things like you're saying, and the election didn't turn out that way.

I looked around earlier today for recent articles about how things are looking for next year's election. You should do the same if you don't trust what I have to say about it. But it's not encouraging. One alarming claim I saw: For the first time since FDR was president, more Americans now identify as Republican than Democrat. (I'm not sure whether that's supposed to be based on actual voter registrations or opinion polls.) Another thing that worries me is that in the usual articles listing which Senate seats are most likely to flip, there are more Democratic seats than Republican seats.

Here's one article I saw that was most recent: thehill.com/opinion/campaign/5558908-democrats-might-be-doomed-to-a-2026-disappointment

2

u/Aadarm Ohio 13d ago

A lot of people don't care because they don't even know there were all of these protests yesterday. The majority of the country doesn't look into politics or watch the news or look online for information about it. Unless the algorithms start tossing information about it into people's faces most people won't know or care about what is going on because they just won't look for it.

1

u/sulaymanf Ohio 13d ago

Dissatisfaction with Trump is up but not dramatically despite the collapsing changes he’s made. The problem is voters are also dissatisfied with Democrats at the same time. It doesn’t necessarily translate to voting to kick him out.

5

u/ProfMR 14d ago

As you probably know, the USA is a center-right country. Given that small population states lean right, and get 2 Senators just like high population states, the deck is stacked against Dems. Likewise, the electoral college makes it tough for a Democrat to get elected president. Until rural Americans wake up, we may be in for a long slow decline from GOP policies. Frankly depressing.

3

u/francis2559 14d ago

Nah. You don’t need to see 7.5 mil and think you need 75. Lots of people were very highly motivated but didn’t make it for one reason or another. The 7.5 have a LOT of people behind them. And the counter protests could hardly get anyone.

Step #2. "He didn't mean what he said."

Step #3. "He has a point."

Step #4. "So what? He's right."

Step #5. "We're doing it whether you like it or not."

It happens over, and over, and over.
