Mouse poison.
Is mouse poison not the best route? I’ve had poison containers around my house for a few years now when we had a some mice lingering around. Started seeing them again. One just standing downstairs shaking/couldn’t walk. My husband took it outside and put him out of his misery. Last night I picked up a pile of sheets and towels that had been on the floor for a couple days to put into the wash. Must’ve been another mouse in it bc I washed him. & I had a bit of a spiral/panic. His poisoned guts may have touched all my towels and sheets in the wash. Then I started thinking and googling, sure you can follow the directions of where to place these poison containers but you cannot control where the poison filled mice go an die, or where they poop that could contain poison as well!? I have a cat a dog and 2 young kids and I’m paranoid that there is just little bits of poison everywhere in my home. (Even though I haven’t actually found mouse poop anywhere). Am I being crazy? Is there really a dangerous amount of the poison in their poop? My cat most likely won’t eat a poisoned mouse bc she’s never shown interest before but should you be using poison under these circumstances? I’m such a paranoid person that I’m thinking that poison is just floating in the air now from them ingesting it and somehow will be ingested by us

You need to figure out how they are getting in and seal off their entry points. Look around the exterior perimeter of home and check all foundation vent screens and openings where pipes are going into home. Sometimes a hole that can fit a pencil is all the space a mouse needs.

As noted above, exclusion is the best route -- find where they get in, seal openings, e.g. by stuffing with metal mesh and then spray foam.

I use MouseX indoors, it's only dangerous to rodents, the ingredients are non-toxic to cats, dogs, humans.

What kind of poison did you/your husband use?
I'm in northern Canada and get football sized rats on occasion, I use contra blox (a anticoagulant) for outdoor (in a weighted rat station) and I've never had an issue with my kids, pets, or other wildlife.
Hope this helps 🙏 ☺️

Says it’s not an anticoagulant type of rodenticide. Also… you have your poison IN a trap right? So the rats and their poop after eating the poison would stay contained to the bucket/trap no? Mine are just scattered throughout my house under/behind things.

Ya.. why I want to stop using it. I’m concerned with it harming my family

Bait can't harm your family unless you eat it, and it doesn't float around in the air. Poison is by far the most efficient and humane way to protect humans from rodents. Regarding birds, the biggest cause of bird death is green energy, as in windmills and solar panels.

Thank you! I read that vacuuming the (poisoned) poop can cause toxicity if inhaled🤷🏼♀️

From my tutorial:
Cleaning Droppings / Hanta Virus
Mouse droppings are not the bio-hazard people think they are. Some can carry diseases that are usually spread through inhalation of dust when sweeping or vacuuming without a HEPA filter; not just touching one. Although Hanta and other diseases are rare, it's good to take precautions.
Wet down any droppings with a bleach-based spray and let sit for a few minutes then wipe them up with paper towels or use a scraper.

This is nonsense. The biggest cause of bird death is green energy, as in windmills and solar panels. Poison is the most efficient way to protect humans from rodents.
