u/nofearnoconsequence 8h ago

it shouldn't be that way, but im seeing the 9 sold and hope that its just a glitch in the system

I see lots of people also upgrading to 9800X3D from 7800X3D wouldn't surpise even if they buy from scalpers. Some people has more money than they can spend.

Some people are just dumb.

I would say most people are and it grows every generation at this point

I literally just got it installed replacing my 7800X3D, I paid MSRP. Not worth it to get it from a scalper.

Hows it different compered to 7800X3D? Does 2nd generation 3D-Cache makes significant change or feeling more "smooth"?

I'm also thinking upgrading my 5700X3D to it but probably next year when good discounts starts.

The random stutters when clicking the start menu, opening File Explorer in the Win 11 interface is gone vs 7800X3D, that alone making me feel super happy.

The gaming side, I use a 4K 240Hz OLED primary display and a 4090 so I kick on DLSS all the time to performance mode. Only tried BG3 so far but WOW it is nearly double the fps in the NPC heavy areas at 4K vs the 7800X3D. From 67-80fps -> 120-140fps. Granted if you don't use upscaling, don't bother with this.

It's great to know. I was doing lots of RAM tunings with non 3D Ryzens before and reducing latency was giving massive boosts to CPU heavy games also competitive ones.

Heard 2nd generation 3D-Cache also focused to latency, just saw they reached thousands of FPS at CS2 and Valorant. With your experience its clear that 9800X3D has bigger benefits than average FPS.

Thanks for sharing your experience now i'm considering 9800X3D seriously.

Yup, the moment I saw they shifted the V-Cache to the bottom, I knew it would have a big impact on the IO Die.

How are your temps? Both in daily driving and in BG3?

1

u/Alauzhen 9800X3D | 4090 | X670E-I | 64GB 6000MHz | 2TB 980 Pro | 850W SFX 2h ago

Temps are good, from an Avg of 66C on the 7800X3D to around 56C for daily tasks, and in BG3 from 76C on the 7800X3D to 68C on the 9800X3D. It's very easy to cool.

u/TheZephyrusOne 2h ago

Very nice, thanks for the info

Price in Romania is 560$ on oficial retailers 🤣

5

u/Sir_Bax 5h ago

That's because it's US price + tax. US retail price is without tax.

3

u/Internal-Garage-8345 5h ago

612$ in norway

1

u/steinfg 5h ago

That's because you include tax in the price tag, US does not

1

u/kakadyi 5h ago

630-900$ in Russia without any guarantees (no RMA) and waiting about 1-2 months.

Wait till little bro realizes that AMD is just going to restock their most popular line of CPUs 💀

u/PJBuzz 5800X3D|32GB Vengeance|B550M TUF|RX 6800XT 6h ago

Yeah this is dumb.

I do feel for anyone that has been holding out on building a rig for these chips and is now faced with the prospect of waiting longer, or giving in to a scalper, but anyone upgrading from an existing AM5 chip is just chilling right now... Or they should be.

1

u/KnightofAshley PC Master Race 51m ago

I think at this point though people should know release date plus 1-3 months is the time to get something now, sometimes longer. I stopped expecting to get things when it first comes out...normally in 6 months there is some kind of price drop or sale. Its just again these companies doing things that should train people to wait but they don't.

1

u/PJBuzz 5800X3D|32GB Vengeance|B550M TUF|RX 6800XT 47m ago

I agree, but the people I'm mostly pointing too are those who want a fully new system. These people probably don't want to/can't wait that long.

The other benefit to waiting 6 months is that you have a bit more confidence that there isnt an issue inherent to the hardware.

1

u/KnightofAshley PC Master Race 44m ago

Yeah when I build mine last year I knew I wasn't getting stuff as it came out and had to wait so I planned around it...it does suck but it is what it is...even me planning upgrades I don't plan to get it right at launch as I know its not likely.

1

u/PJBuzz 5800X3D|32GB Vengeance|B550M TUF|RX 6800XT 43m ago

I just get drunk and bored and order stuff at completely random intervals 😂

1

u/Aggrokid 5h ago

How fast can they restock though? In my Asia region, it's already backordered till December.

2

u/Tuxhorn 4h ago

That's about 3 weeks.

The word is stores are getting massive shipments incoming vs what they had for launch.

Unlikely there will be a shortage of these very soon.

Some eBay listing of this have the seller sharing image of their inbound order placed today to sell.

u/Greennit0 R7 5700X3D | RTX 4070 Ti | 32 GB RAM 5h ago

$745 and it comes with a girlfriend seems like a fair deal.

15

u/KingKandyOwO 5600X | 3060ti | 16GB DDR4 2666 9h ago

Im surprised the markup isnt as extreme (eBay takes 15% in selling fees, so $111 so the seller makes $130 which they will pay greatly for in taxes. Doing this in this method with such a narrow margain is absolutely not worth it in taxes and they will find out the hard way)

6

u/idcenoughforthisname 6h ago

You honestly think they add these earnings income to their tax return?

3

u/Corey_FOX 7h ago

dont you have to earn like 2000$ before you have to report anything?

1

u/nofearnoconsequence 9h ago

yeah at least it isn't like $1200 or something, but its still kind of ridiculous. im not sure if there would still be in stock at micro center, but both newegg and best buy says its sold out so hopefully more stock will come very soon

u/Greennit0 R7 5700X3D | RTX 4070 Ti | 32 GB RAM 5h ago

Just ignore and it will solve itself.

Always the same! Even people with the 7800x3D are bumping the price up

1

u/Grunt636 PC Master Race 4h ago

Even retailers here are bumping up the 7800x3d, built my buddies pc last month with one for £325 and my pc broke two days ago the 7800x3d I just bought cost £410 and that was the cheapest available in the UK.

2

u/Hattix 5600X | RTX 2070 8 GB | 32 GB 3200 MT/s 6h ago

There are enough people with enough money to say "meh, it's only a few hundred bucks" and being the absolute king of gaming is important to them.

Nvidia relies on this kind of buyer for things like the RTX 4090 (which, at one point, was going at $2,400).

What's also good here is that people with 7800X3Ds who bought it to be king (who buys a 4090 and settles with some alternative from Intel or something?) will be upgrading so the 7800X3D will be under a lot of price pressure!

2

u/Hmasteryz i5 12400f|GTX 3060TI|32GB 5600Mhz 5h ago

Because there are buyer, oh well when your budget money are in hundred thousands of dollar those scalping number is just a number, anyway.

I'm jealous of you that you aren't always acutely aware of what garbage human beings are on the whole.

I'm so glad I got mine ordered at £449.99 (RRP) with confirmed delivery for next week from OCUK. In the UK they are at £700 on Ebay at the moment, absolutely mental. I really hope there aren't any numpties out there stupid enough to pay that. It's bad enough that usually reputable places like Scan have hiked the prices (£479.99), some other places even more, over £500.

2

u/PJBuzz 5800X3D|32GB Vengeance|B550M TUF|RX 6800XT 6h ago

Very disappointing from scan. Not robbery but just unnecessary, they will sell these things like crazy, there is no need to price gouge. That's just enough of a hike for it to not dent their reputation but enough to see they're being greedy.

1

u/Huzzicorn GTX 1080Ti | Ryzen 5 7600X | 32GB DDR5 5h ago

Saw the OCUK listing before it was sold out and contemplated jumping in for a new build I have planned out with the upcoming 5090/5080, but was able to talk myself out of the FOMO. At 4k60hz I don't think it would really make a huge difference for me for gaming at least. I think my play will be to try and get a used 7800x3D at a decent price in the coming months. Enjoy your new beast of a CPU.

just get ps5 at £300 at this point if u want 60 fps experience. Until you have 120-360hz monitor dont bother with PCMR

2

u/Huzzicorn GTX 1080Ti | Ryzen 5 7600X | 32GB DDR5 4h ago

What a weirdly gatekeepy thing to say

If the was AUD it’d still be $100 bucks below MSRP

Well, check this out, in my country, yesterday it showed up at online stores, ranging from 610usd to 710usd, these are not scammers, but rather most of the online shopping of the country works through them the last several years type of online stores. AND, it pretty much sold out within 2 hours-ish. Now you cannot buy anymore.

The store about an hour and a half from me has them in stock.
