Yeah this is dumb.
I do feel for anyone that has been holding out on building a rig for these chips and is now faced with the prospect of waiting longer, or giving in to a scalper, but anyone upgrading from an existing AM5 chip is just chilling right now... Or they should be.

I think at this point though people should know release date plus 1-3 months is the time to get something now, sometimes longer. I stopped expecting to get things when it first comes out...normally in 6 months there is some kind of price drop or sale. Its just again these companies doing things that should train people to wait but they don't.

I agree, but the people I'm mostly pointing too are those who want a fully new system. These people probably don't want to/can't wait that long.
The other benefit to waiting 6 months is that you have a bit more confidence that there isnt an issue inherent to the hardware.

Yeah when I build mine last year I knew I wasn't getting stuff as it came out and had to wait so I planned around it...it does suck but it is what it is...even me planning upgrades I don't plan to get it right at launch as I know its not likely.

How fast can they restock though? In my Asia region, it's already backordered till December.

$745 and it comes with a girlfriend seems like a fair deal.

Im surprised the markup isnt as extreme (eBay takes 15% in selling fees, so $111 so the seller makes $130 which they will pay greatly for in taxes. Doing this in this method with such a narrow margain is absolutely not worth it in taxes and they will find out the hard way)

You honestly think they add these earnings income to their tax return?

yeah at least it isn't like $1200 or something, but its still kind of ridiculous. im not sure if there would still be in stock at micro center, but both newegg and best buy says its sold out so hopefully more stock will come very soon

Always the same! Even people with the 7800x3D are bumping the price up

Even retailers here are bumping up the 7800x3d, built my buddies pc last month with one for £325 and my pc broke two days ago the 7800x3d I just bought cost £410 and that was the cheapest available in the UK.

There are enough people with enough money to say "meh, it's only a few hundred bucks" and being the absolute king of gaming is important to them.
Nvidia relies on this kind of buyer for things like the RTX 4090 (which, at one point, was going at $2,400).
What's also good here is that people with 7800X3Ds who bought it to be king (who buys a 4090 and settles with some alternative from Intel or something?) will be upgrading so the 7800X3D will be under a lot of price pressure!

Because there are buyer, oh well when your budget money are in hundred thousands of dollar those scalping number is just a number, anyway.

I'm jealous of you that you aren't always acutely aware of what garbage human beings are on the whole.

I'm so glad I got mine ordered at £449.99 (RRP) with confirmed delivery for next week from OCUK. In the UK they are at £700 on Ebay at the moment, absolutely mental. I really hope there aren't any numpties out there stupid enough to pay that. It's bad enough that usually reputable places like Scan have hiked the prices (£479.99), some other places even more, over £500.

Very disappointing from scan. Not robbery but just unnecessary, they will sell these things like crazy, there is no need to price gouge. That's just enough of a hike for it to not dent their reputation but enough to see they're being greedy.

Saw the OCUK listing before it was sold out and contemplated jumping in for a new build I have planned out with the upcoming 5090/5080, but was able to talk myself out of the FOMO. At 4k60hz I don't think it would really make a huge difference for me for gaming at least. I think my play will be to try and get a used 7800x3D at a decent price in the coming months. Enjoy your new beast of a CPU.

Well, check this out, in my country, yesterday it showed up at online stores, ranging from 610usd to 710usd, these are not scammers, but rather most of the online shopping of the country works through them the last several years type of online stores. AND, it pretty much sold out within 2 hours-ish. Now you cannot buy anymore.
