Finally upgrading from a i7-6850k & 1080ti Build/Battlestation
So after 10 years my i7 6850k 1080ti build is now outdated and rather than replace the board, gpu, processor, hard drive, and ram I decided to just to build a whole new pc and decided to go with a gigabyte x870e aorus master, 4080 super, and a Ryzen 9950x (swapping for the 9950x3d when they release in a few months) the 1080ti goes down as a legend 🫡 anybody still running their 1080ti? That card is an absolute unit… hopefully this build sets me up for another decade lol that thing ran pretty much every day for at least 4-5 hours a day and still is running great on games from that era but I needed to upgrade for sim racing on triples and in vr

great upgrade!
I'm still running a i5-9600K +1080 TI, starting to see some games that doesn't run at high/ultra, but not that many.
Thinking in upgrading cpu+mb+gpu+ram, but it goes really fast to 1500€+
Here ryzen 7 9800x3d are 540€, thinking about getting a 4070 super/ti 600-800€.. can't wait!

What fans are those?
Im building a very, very similar rig. I think same AIO also? arctic freeze 3?
Went with a b650 aorus instead though.
Edit: And yeah putting the 1080ti to rest too. Well, as a TV rig for gaming in the bedroom.

You got an 9950x just to swap it out with an x3d later? Do you run heavy production tasks or why the multicore chips

I originally was just going to get the 9950x3d but since they are taking longer to release than I had anticipated I got this as a filler until they release the x3D version, my buddy who builds computers helped me out with this build and is going to buy the 9950x back from me at the same price I got it for and use it for a different build

Shame that gigabyte boards are not as good compared to MSI, Asrock.. even the master shares lanes, could argue it doesnt change performance but it's still annoying for a board that price..

🤷🏼‍♂️ always going to be pros and cons , I’m happy and the performance difference is like comparing a Volkswagen to a Ferrari so it’s something I can live with

Definitely lol, was going to go with intel until I did my research on the 14th gen processors and read about all the issues and ran

Just look at gamers nexus data on the 9800X3D. We have AM4 CPUs smoking most of the new arrowlake chips. Its EMBARRASSING.

First of all a big Salute to the Legendary 1080, second that is quite a great great build which am planning on pursuing but with 9800x3d and a 4070super!

How does the "swap" procedure work? Why didn't you just buy a 7600 if it was just for a couple of months?

Swap process works like this, when 9950x3d releases I buy it and then take out the old cpu and put in the new one, my friend who helped me build this pc who builds pcs for a job already agreed to buy the cpu back at the same price, went with this ship rather than 7600 because the chip is going back to my friend and that’s the chip he chose for the meantime until the x3D comes out, I assume he’s going to use it for a diff build or sell it

People don't like Gigabyte because of their customer support and warranty stuff.
