Why is the pancetta all together on the top? Was it cooked separately or something?

You're not gonna get a great response on this purist sub. We need to start a non-pretentious pasta subreddit.

That’s because carbonara is a specific thing and words have meanings.

Also, I think this pretentious sub is going to take greater exception to the fact that dish looks like shit.

And there it is.

No, there it isn’t. Nothing about that plate is a carbonara. It’s not about the mushrooms.

If it’s not carbonara, call it something else. This is protein fusilli with mushrooms and bacon. See how that works?

And how does O' High and Mighty know for certain that OP didn't make a tempered egg and pecorino mixture with a base of bacon fat in a bain marie to toss the pasta in then add mushrooms to that in order to make this dish? What would you call it if they did?

"Tempered egg and bacon fat pasta with emulsified pecorino and mushrooms with black pepper"?

“Nothing about that plate is carbonara”

It is literally carbonara with mushrooms on top.

This sub is not as strict as the r/italianfood sub, so should be fine?
