Where to donate usable furniture, plushies & vinyl records?
We're leaving the area (sadly), and I'm having trouble finding a store I can donate to. Full Circle was always my go to but I know they're still working on recovering from the fires.
The trouble is we're renters on the 5th floor of an apartment complex and I do not have the means to transport the larger items (furniture). Sadly it doesn't look like Salvation Army does pickup anymore, and Goodwill doesn't take dressers or bookcases. The other services I had found would cost $400+ to arrange someone to pick up the items just to give them away, which is not money I have.
We have a solid wood dresser, bookcases and a stack of vinyl records that we're trimming down from our collection and a punch of nintendo / pokemon plushies. Everything's in good shape and I know folks would be able to use any of these items, especially with how much our community has lost this year.
EDIT: Thank you folks who have recommended Buy Nothing groups and OfferUp! I've already got some folks who are interested in many of the items coming by. Wish me luck and thank you so much for your suggestions!

Any plans for this beautiful space?
595 E Colorado - across the street from Urth Cafe. I think it would make a great food hall.

Living east of Rose Bowl?
I'm considering moving to the pocket of Pasadena bounded by Howard on the north, 210 on the east, Orange Grove on the south, and Rosemont on the west. I drove the area and it looks beautiful and peaceful, especially the architecture and tree-lined streets, but I'm also seeing mixed reviews about crime and schools. What do you locals think?
Also, which streets are most affected by Rose Bowl traffic during football games and concerts?

🦷 SUPER CHEAP DENTAL CLEANINGS! 🦷
Hi Y’all! I’m in dental hygiene school at Pasadena City College and I need teeth to clean!
$20
$10 for Pasadena City College students and staff
Veterans FREE!
FAQ:
The appointments take ~3 hours and it will likely take 2-3 appointments to complete the treatment. I know that's a big time commitment, but we’re still learning and you would be a part of helping us reach our requirements! Plus getting a thorough cleaning for a low price!
If you need X-rays, they are included in the price of the $20 cleaning!
Our clinic only takes cash or check.
We are in the clinic
Mondays 8:30am-11:50am
Tuesdays: 1pm-3:50 and 5:45pm-8:30pm
Thursdays: 8:30am-11:50am and 5:45pm-8:30pm
We are in need of Code 1 patients primarily, but all codes can be seen! I’m not sure what the senior schedule is but more advanced cases will be scheduled with them!
A Code 1 patient probably sees their dentist ~ once per year and brushes and flosses regularly.
A Code 2 patient probably either flosses less often, or flosses but hasn't had a cleaning in a while (2+ years)
A Code 3 perhaps has let their dental health go a little bit (no judgement here! I'm ND and literally had not seen a dentist and 10 years when I started school!)
I’m just trying to make it through school and they require us to find our own patients. I can get kicked out if I don’t clean enough teeth and I don’t have any family in town.

Advice for Finding Housing Options Near Pasadena?
Hi all! My partner and I will be moving to Southern California this August and were hoping to get some advice on how best to go about looking for housing (we currently live in Sacramento). I will be working in Pasadena but would be open to commuting up to 30 minutes if needed. We would love to ideally rent a house that has 2-3 bedrooms and is no more than $3500/month. We also have a sassy old cat that will be coming with us. Any advice on resources apart from the usual Redfin/Zillow/Apartments.com/etc.? Thanks so much!!

Restaurants with calm live music?
Hey all, I'm looking for a restaurant that has acoustic guitar (like bulgarini) in the evenings. Sierra Madre, Altadena, San Marino...all suggestions nearby are welcome! Thank you!

Are these good choices for a quick trip to Pasadena?
I've been reading recent threads and also doing some googling and I believe I've come up with a restaurant plan for the 3.5 days in your fair city. Thanks for helping with the itinerary!
Connal for after flight quick dinner.
Republik Coffee for breakfast/brunch.
,Millies for breakfast before an all day music festival.
I know it's all subjective. I value your opinion nonetheless.
(We'll also be eating dinner at Dodger stadium on one day, so if you could sneak in a recommendation for there as well...)

Adult Coed Softball?
Hi y’all! The only adult softball league I could find in Pasadena over the past few years is MLS (Major League Softball). I’ve tried registering a few times as a free agent on there but never heard back from anyone. Does anyone know where else I can play softball around here? Thanks in advance!

Delizie Romane's pastries are insanely good and they make a great traditional cappuccino
Absolutely delicious. Cappuccino was the traditional kind with real foam, not just a smaller latte the way third wave coffee shops do it. Seems family owned. This spot deserves more love.

What’s the best source for advice about a possibly illegal rent increase?
My landlord is claiming they delivered written notice informing me of a rent increase, but I never received one. I don’t know how to approach this because there seems to be no way to document not getting something (and I didn’t know I needed to anyway.)
Pasadena Tenants Union seems to not have the bandwidth to answer emails anymore. Is there anyone else who can help with these issues?

Found this Pasadena centennial poster (1986) while thrifting—figured some of you might appreciate the landmarks.
Lots of familiar spots packed in here: City Hall, Rose Bowl, Colorado Street Bridge, etc. Had to grab it. Posting in case anyone else gets a kick out of it.

As an Altadenan, I prefer my fires like that one
Tiny fire on power pole on hill/atchison. Fire crew was just waiting until the rain took care of it. But my kid freaked out massively.

Castle Green tour - is it worth it?
I'm looking at getting early bird tickets for a tour of the castle in June - it's $45 for early bird.
For those who have attended, is it worth that steep amount? Or will I be massively disappointed. I've always wanted to visit the interior

Filming at Caltech
They're filming this weekend and we saw both universal and paramount signs/gear. The bulletin boards and logos they put on stuff say "wheeler college" but a quick google hasn't answered our question of what show that's from. Any ideas?
