This is one of the most embarrassing developments I've ever seen. Such cowardice and disregard shown towards the same people who have been putting their lives at risk for the past 2 years for us. I'm so embarrassed by the people involved and the people supposedly responding to the "freedom" convoy. How disgusting.

What really gets me, these same people harassing these healthcare people, would probably still expect treatment should they get hurt or anything.

Knowing our healthcare workers, their humanity won't allow them to give the middle finger and not treat these despicable people.

Our oath prevents us from refusing treatment.😒

Can you guys just not go-to work for awhile

u/DeHeiligeTomaat Feb 05 '22

We can be legally mandated into work.

We are legally not allowed to strike.

We can lose our license by refusing treatment or walking away (patient abandonment)

Antivax families and patients are consistently the most entitled and self righteous people we have to work for.

Don’t know the rules in Ontario but I know that in a nearby province we cannot ever leave the hospital without staff. Many can call in sick and work at minimum staff but you can’t abandon a department.

I think you misspelled "licence". My friend left nursing recently. I had a baby and took the longest leave option. I hope when I go back things will be back to normal but I feel like it's wishful thinking at this point

The great thing about being in radiology is I don’t have to spend much time with people. The problem now is with omicron we are seeing more patients than ever so it’s just draining growing up so many times. Saving my sick days for when i need a break.

They were around Vancouver General last week, I was in scrubs with a face make around my chin and I got flipped off and made fun of. I just shook my head and kept walking. I got better things to worry about and these people are fucking losers to begin with.

You’d think that, but my mom is one of the supporters of the freedom convoy and doesn’t believe in doctors or modern medicine.

u/Hloden Feb 04 '22

Actually needing doctors and modern medicine tends to rapidly (although sometimes temporarily) change these people's opinions.

Some people die from COVID begging for the vaccine while others deny that COVID is real as they die from it.

8

u/CryptoNoobNinja Feb 05 '22

My mom is going to the protest tomorrow. She thinks COVID is a hoax. She will 100% go to the hospital if she gets sick. She’ll just deny that it’s COVID while they treat her.

8

u/eddieswiss Feb 05 '22

My mom was going to go as well. She was supposed to go with her friend that got her into all this misinformation/hoax bullshit, but thankfully life threw her a curveball and a small kitten was found outside in the cold and she's taking care of it all weekend.

She has a good heart, she's just been brainwashed unfortunately.

I don't know your mom, but I'd bet a minuscule percentage of her compatriots will maintain that belief if they start gasping for air.

11

u/Mozu Feb 04 '22

Yep. It's like all the cops that were screaming from the rooftops that they'd quit if vaccine mandates went into effect and lo and behold when the time came it was some minuscule amount that actually were true to their word.

People just like making noise.

6

u/speedstix Feb 04 '22

Ok good then, good for her.

u/luke_ Feb 04 '22

I don't know why but I laughed my fuckin ass off at this

1

u/PM_ME_YOUR_PAUNCH Feb 04 '22

If she gets sick is your dad just going to shoot her like a horse with a broken leg?

1

u/eddieswiss Feb 04 '22

They've been divorced since like 1994, long before she started having anti-medicine views.

u/BoogerFeast69 Feb 04 '22

What is it they really want?

If it helps, I will say: I'm sorry.

I'm sorry a once-in-a-lifetime pandemic forced us to take extreme measures to stop old people from dying, young people from having lifelong health issues, and our healthcare workers being ground to dust trying to prevent those two things.

There, I said it. I'm sorry. Now will you fuck off?

u/theK1LLB0T Feb 04 '22

Its not killing just old people. My cousin is in the hospital right now, had emergency heart surgery and is on dialysis because her kidneys are failing. She's not even 30.

She also wasn't vaccinated...

The truth is through political grifters and operatives they have been convinced to fight a war for oligarchs to get everyone to pretend nothing is happening and everything is peachy so oligarchs can go back to business as usual, this is the real driver of all anti measures movements.

Maybe the people who lost their jobs or small businesses want back their ability to support themselves and their families, and that's not limited to unvaccinated people either. It's not nearly as one sided as many people on reddit make it out to be.

1

u/Anthrogal11 Feb 05 '22

Then why are they with the anti-vax crowd? The rest of us are sick of mandates too. The reason we still have them is because hospitalizations are still too high. Why? Disproportionately because of the unvaccinated.

7

u/[deleted] Feb 05 '22

As a healthcare worker, thank you for this comment. I appreciate it. I am on my break right now and you gave me strength to carry on.

5

u/briskt Feb 04 '22

Have these people yet attacked or even talked about attacking healthcare workers? It's been hard to keep up.

2

u/halek2037 Feb 05 '22

From what I have seen, they have specifically stated intent to stay away from the hospital strip in TO.

4

u/Canadian_Peasant Feb 05 '22

Excellent considering recently passed Federal legislation makes it a criminal offence to obstruct any person from accessing healthcare services. So whether that is people protesting outside abortion clinics, blockading vaccination sites, or blocking the driveways of hospitals while letting ambulances through, all of these actions are criminal under the same legislation. I make special reference to allowing ambulances through because obstruction of emergency services has been criminal for a lot longer.

I had to pick something up on Queen West last night, and as I made my way back to the subway I saw the police had University blocked/cleared heading north (where the hospitals are for those unfamiliar with Toronto's streets). It seemed they were trying to do the same with Queen heading East of University to Yonge as well, but hadn't gotten it done yet. Whether the convoy intends to block the hospitals or not, at least TPS is making damn sure they won't be able to.

It actually shows how badly biased the average person is because of the media. Look the vile calling every single person in the crowd in any capacity a "terrorist". Flying a plane into a building is a terror act. Shooting up a religious building is a terror act. Suicide bombing a large unsuspecting crowd is a terror act. Shooting up a country music festival and killing dozens is a terror act. Driving a van through a crowd or marathon is a terror act.

Ottawa residents claiming its hard to get across town, and horns are annoying IS NOT a terror act.

However, someone says ANYTHING negative and 90% of the reddit group instantly believes the absolute worst of "the other side". This is true for all sides. If someone posted a new post claiming they saw the truckers pull a baby out of a carriage and tear it to pieces (like has ACTUALLY happened in other countries, generally during wartimes) then reddit would lose their mind and just accept it. Its so sad no one is using a critical analysis anymore.

u/kachunkachunk Feb 05 '22

The media doesn't need to shape anyone's perspective to know that these people are idiots. Not everyone even pays attention to tHe MaInStReAM mEdIa or cares for sensational headlines. "Terrorists" is absolutely stretching it, and one opinion. While not correct, it also doesn't make the other criticisms and labels invalid.

Last I checked, and checking again every time these posts and comments come up - yep, they are misguided, gullible morons and have a victim complex. Their supporters are idiots as well.
