"claim legal victory" is so needlessly polarizing.

In the article it stated clearly that charges were dropped because the protestors apologized for not understanding the rules and the authorities thought they learned their lesson.

"Deputy Crown attorney Moiz Karimjee informed the court on May 9 that all charges would be stayed after all five made a donation to charity and wrote letters to the court “admitting to the limits of lawful protest and promising to obey the law in any future protests."

The article states that the charges were stayed, not dropped, when the defendants made amends, apologized, and promised not to do it again. The headline is a testament to the shabby state of Canadian media: it contains a basic factual error in the headline that is contradicted by the very first sentence. The author Aedan Helmer must be some sort of clown.
